Anybody Used Cytisine (Page 4)

Updated

Has anybody used Cytisine to give up smoking, is it an anti depressent, doesn't sound as 'natural' as it was made out to be. Side effects?

I am on it now. Started on June 21st, 2017. It has only been 5 days but I am really impressed with it so far. No ill effects so far and really the cravings to smoke again are not that bad. It costs less than $15 for the one month (25 day) program. I did use Chantix a few years ago and did quit for 1 1/2 years afterwards but the Chantix was very expensive and I had some side effects that I DO NOT want to have ever have again. This medicine is called Tabex or Desmonax in Poland and it is made by Sopharma. Of course it is helping for sure that I really felt that it was time to quit smoking and with the success that my friends had with no ill effects I knew it was worth a try and it has been worth it even after these 5 days.

Hello, and yes I have had a very positive experience with Cytisine. It gave me the edge and control to stop smoking 10mnths ago, something I was very concerned about as I had made many unsuccessful attempts in the past. It came recommended to me and I can only praise the completely natural Cytisine smoking cessation process and recommend it to others. Cheers.

Have you asked the manufacturer? It is hard to imagine that they would not tell you or at least I've never had trouble learning the identity of inert ingredients by simply asking; whether medications or agricultural products. Tablets generally contain some sort of binders in order to form them into solid tablets. It can be one of dozens of things but if a person smokes tobacco it is far worse for their health than any imaginable tablet binders. (And the idea with cytisine is not to replace a nicotine addiction with another drug addiction but to use it in order to transition off nicotine) A person could likely use plant material from laburnum, gorse or scotch broom but a pharmaceutical product has an advantage of being a known dosage. Something to bear in mind is that nothing is a magic bullet to *make* a person quit smoking. Any addict, whether to nicotine or another drug, has to actually want to succeed and be an active participant in the process. Tabex can be of support to their process by reducing or preventing cravings due to cytisine acting directly on nicotinic receptors as a partial agonist (ie its action shares some properties with that of nicotine). Whether that bit of assistance can help get a person off of nicotine is always going to be up to them and not the drug. The drug is just a tool. We still have to do the "work" ourselves; a drug will not do it for them. Good luck!

Cytisine is a nicotine receptor antagonist, which is really why it is a success...the only side effect you will have is that you will stop smoking...the program gives you a head start on eliminating nicotine from your system which is a serious drug...it will take 90 days to break your habit and re-train your thoughts...just remember...you cant think your way into good actions, it only with good actions that we produce positive thinking and results.

Did you gain weight or have any cravings after getting off of cuisine? I want to stop taking it in a few months and want to know what to expect.

I have just finished taking a course of tabex which was wonderful. I didn't have any cravings and didn't feel depressed (like I have when trying to quit before). I had a few nights of bad dreams....but stupidly I smoked again after 7 weeks of quitting.... I had 5 cigs in a period of 4 days....so I've started with one tabex a day again....not sure if this is safe?

According to the manufacturer, if you decide to smoke while using them you will feel like you have smoked too much. I can't say that first-hand as I have not combined them.

I have been doing 'quit4good' for 5 days as of today. I have had headaches and a yukky feeling in my tummy. I didn't have a reduction in smoking plus I was cranky. Today I stopped smoking and feel the same as I did 2 weeks ago when I went cold turkey. I'm anxious, teary and have the usual effects of stopping smoking. I wonder why it works for some and not for others. I was going to buy cigs but put a patch on instead. I am disappointed as I payed $300 for it. I have emailed and asked for a refund. I was so excited to stop. I am calm now with a patch on. I really want to do this.

I have tried many times to stop smoking. I have used Champix (UK) three times successfully, but I went back to smoking each time. I lasted 3 years, 18 months, and 5 months. My youngest son used Tabex and he advised me to try it. So far no side effects and I stopped after three days. I'm 65 years of age and have smoked since I was around 10 or 11 years of age. I've tried just stopping, substituting with a "vape", just willpower (too weak-willed and easily led) lasted a couple of days. So far this has been the easiest way. I am on several medications due to neck and spine injuries: Morphine sulfate 140mg per day, plus Sevredol 20mg when needed, Pregabalin 300mg, Amitriptyline 100mg, Furosemide 80mg, Ramipril 10mg all per day. I also have Testosterone shots every 4 weeks and a daily multi-vitamin. So far no side effects after three weeks and I think if there were any I would have gotten them by now. Hope this helps somebody.

$300 sounds outrageous for a course of cytisine. I paid around $40US for a box of Tabex. It sounds like cytisine may not be a good drug choice for you. Headaches and nausea are fairly common reported side effects (trivial in my case) but if it does not suppress cravings or withdrawal symptoms for you there is no point in taking it. An underappreciated but possibly illuminating concept termed "biochemical individuality" was described by Roger Williams some years ago in a book with that title. Different people can have quite different responses to the same drugs and it is a good idea to avoid ingesting any drug with side effects that a person finds troublesome -- especially if the drug is not working for its intended purpose.

Re: Confused ex smoker (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

Quitting smoking is 80/20. 80% mental and 20% physical, the mind controls the body. I quit when there were no pills, but now there's a pill for everything. How strong are you and what is the payoff/set your mind to quit without the pills. Yes I quit. I took a half a pack and rolled it in duct tape. I'd go to work and when I got home I'd see the box rolled in duct tape and kick it, kick it everywhere until I was tired and breathing hard. Lasted about 10 days, and then one day I came home and pitched it in the garbage. Even today if I had to do it again I still wouldn't take a pill, my luck I'd get stuck on the pill and not want to quit that. If you really want to quit, I mean really want to, then do it. The reward is great, and you'll realize that you're stronger than you thought. It's a mental war, as after a week-10 days the nicotine is gone from your system. Drink a gallon of water a day and load up on vitamin C. Then kick the box wrapped in duct tape, or whatever you choose.

This medication actually acts like Chantix, I don't think it has anything to do with being addicted to nicotine... It blocks the part of the brain that craves. So that's why it works for many types of addiction

Hi, i've quit for 2 weeks now. Side effects i have are very little, dry mouth and that's about it.
In europe its very cheap, 22€ for the whole cure. 1,5mg per tablet. They recommend to take 2packages and take your time. Also, take one every 2 hours for about max 10 days (for those who take longer tan 5 days).
It works like a charm. Even if you are not strong willed.
Also, now new studies are being done, with people taking 3mg at a time.
I consider the product safe if you don t use other neural medication.
If you do, consult your doctor first, its almost the same as chantix, so if he says you can use that, just use tabex or desmoxan, a lot cheaper and way less side effects than chantix.

I have taken welbutrin - chantix - nicorette both gum and patches and nothing worked until the TBX . For the first time I feel I can and will be successful. I have been smoking for 35+ years and this product has made it extremely easy. The side effects are minimal - at least for me - I am usually high energy and am shocked that I am sleeping 8 hours a night instead of 6. I can get over that. I took more than the recommended dosage at first - when I felt the need to be overwhelming. After one week I sleep all night and don't usually take one for 2-3 hours after I am up. I am shocked at how easy this strip has made it for me. It will take a little will power but nothing like going cold turkey or using one of the other methods.
