Amitriptyline VS Nortriptyline

Hi everyone, I'm interested in amitriptyline and/or nortriptyline. I have been taking amitriptyline 100mg at night. As usual my dose was increased over time. The only side effect I had difficulty with is that grogginess in the morning which I don't like. I'm most interested in no grogginess. I was told that it shall pass as my body adjusts. I found a different drug called nortriptyline accidentally while looking for insurance. They consider amitriptyline to be a tier 4 as to nortriptyline a tier 2, that's a huge difference in price for me, so I looked it up and they seem to be basically the same medicine but I noticed that in the comments area the grogginess was not so much a problem as to the other medicine...so if anyone can help me out with feedback that would be grea...

New to Elavil. Any feedback would be great

Today I went to the dr. She switched my Effexor and Buspar to Elavil. I have never taken this medication before. Its 25mg x 2 daily. I'm very interested in this medicine because I have a very hard time gaining weight and I've read blogs on yes it can cause weight gain. I'm also interested in how tired and sleepy it will make me. That's one negative effect I don't want. I'm more interested in energy and good mood lift... Any feedback would be appreciated, thx ## I think all these meds for mood and anxiety cause sleepy and no energy feelings. I've had to take many and all them make you tired and no energy ## I agree with you on this. I just started elavil 25mg before bed..I find myself sleeping later each morning. Which I don't like. Thank god I'm still...

amitriptyline and oxycodone

I've been taking 7.5mg Oxycodone for my pain after an accident a while ago. I recently was prescribed Amitriptyline 50mg for Anxiety and Depression. Are these 2 drugs safe to take together at there dosages? I've read it has a significant reaction about increasing the level of drowsiness and sedation, but does that mean it can be life threating or just a possible warning? ## Hello HunterOrion, I did some research and found the same thing you mentioned. According to the FDA the reaction between these two drugs is that they may increase the sedative properties. This was listed as a "moderate" interaction which means it's not life threatening in itself but could be fatal given certain conditions. Whenever you are taking medication that causes you to be drowsy or has seda...

tramadol all side effects mild and servre ## Deborah, I took Amitriptyline years ago and gained a quick 10 lbs that didn't go until I stopped the drug. I was 98 lbs so I really noticed 10 lbs, but the effect was dramatic. It was terrific for sleep. Usually timed it about an hour before bed. I wanted to take it at least 8 hrs before wake up time, othewise very tough to wake up and stayed drowsy. It's one of the older anti-depressants but it was the most effective for me who has tried quite a few over the years. I felt suicidal one day and the next morning was like a brand new life. Best to you ## Deborah, Tramadol has been very effective for pain and has the least side effects of most of the other pain meds.
