Effects of Long Term Amitriptyline Use on the Heart
98 Replies RSS
After 20 years of taking amitriptyline for headaches I would like to find people who have had any heart related side effects after long term amitriptyline use. ## Very little is known about the long-term effects of most drugs for depression. The biggest problem reported currently is relapse, when the medication is discontinued. You can read more about antidepressants here: As to any cardiac effects, I am only finding warnings that problems may occur if it is used with some specific other medications. Does anyone else know anything about this? ## I have been on Elavil for 20 years and 100mg at bedtime and I don't recommend anyone taking it long term. I have heart palpatations every day which was determined from Dr. that it was hormonal, but I don't believe it. I tried to decrease...

I have taken both of these meds, and neither one has made me even the least bit sleepy. Tramadol has a very specific max of dosage, so I highly suggest you don't overtake any it...

After 2 times with refills my gp refuses another script. My neurologist recently prescribed Amitriptyline 50 mg per night for sleep and pain. My question is can the amitriptyline help with horrible day 2 withdrawal I'm experiencing? I never want to see tramadol again b/c of the sickening control I gave it over my life. Told husband at least my head and neck pain let me feel normal instead of some side show. If anyone has experience bei.g on amitriptyline while detcing from tramadol will you please help? Is Amitriptyline A Controlled Subtance
7 Replies RSS
is amitriptyline a narcodic or controlled substance 2102 on one side v on the other side sm. yellow pill ## Amitriptyline is not a narcotic, nor is it subject to the Controlled Substances Act. It is an antidepressant. Amitriptyline is a fairly safe drug although it can (and usually does) cause EXTREME drowsiness. It should not be taken before driving, etc until you know how it will effect you. Most people continue to become drowsy after taking it so they take it before bedtime. The other most common side effect is constipation. For information about this drug, please refer to the link below... Please post back if you have any other questions or comments to add. ## My doctor prescribed me Amitriptylin 25 MG it was not for depression, it was for a burning sensation that Ive been having du...

what happens if some one takes 15 tablets of tryptomer tm 25gm a day please reply fast its an emergency. ## Hello, Ripon! How is the person in question? Did they suffer any adverse effects? For anyone with an emergency, please contact your local poison control or take the person to the nearest emergency services medical department. While there are always those of us online that would love to help, if we can, there is nothing we can do if someone's life is in danger. The FDA classifies Amitriptyline as a tricyclic antidepressant and there is a chance that an overdose of it could cause permanent organ damage or be fatal. Overdose symptoms are listed as possibly including uneven heartbeat, extreme drowsiness, confusion, agitation, hallucinations, vomiting and seizures. ## What happen i...

Withdrawal symptoms after 4 months?
4 Replies RSS
I came off A almost 4 months ago. It was very hard at first (I cut the dose in half for a few weeks and then I took away the last half), I couldn't sleep for two months, almost got crazy, but now I can sleep again. Instead now I'm tired all the time. Just wanna sleep. I've got an iron deficiency and also allergy, so maybe that's the reason I'm so tired, I don't know. What I wanted to ask you is something that's been happening lately and scares the h** out of me. When I'm about to fall asleep I get these chills, get cold, and it tingles down my spine, it's like I could feel all the nerves in my spine and I understand this doesn't sound like something scary maybe, but I instantly wake up terrified and with tremendous anxiety and shaking from being s...

Shoulder pain

What is the role of libotryp in treating frozen shoulder and what are its side effects? ## I am suffering from a mild mitral valve problem and am taking acitrom 1mg, pentids 800 and atocor 10 mg since i have to visit a spine doctor for a back problem. The Dr. gave me clopitab A, cobix 200 and nexito. l'm on 1 day & had some imbalance issues after taking additional medicine. Please advise. I also have some tingling on my eyes and lips sometimes. ## Libotryp contains Amitriptyline and Chlordiazepoxide, it is actually an antidepressant, but some medication in this class can help with some types of nerve pain. Do you know what has caused the frozen shoulder? If it is from an injury that needs to heal, this will probably not help much. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsin...

I am taking 25 MG at night and sometimes 25 MG in the day time. I have very short temper and I get angry very fast. I am a very busy man at the office and have to handle a variety of things simultaneously. When I take the medicine I feel ok. My only worry is that if I continue too long I will get addicted to it and will that be bad? Also need to know if I take this tab regularly will it affect my libido? ## I tried that, made me suicidal..... My dad was on it, he sold his land for nothing and now rents at age 74. this medicine may have its uses, but not with me. ## Mike, while your suicidal tendencies are possible on this medication, they are very rare and not representative of the typical user. As to your dad's actions, there is really no way to say whether or not the medication ha...

However I haven't anything mention that it can be used for insomnia/sleep disorders. MY MOTHER HAS BEEN USING THE TABLET LIBOTRYP FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS AFTER GALL BLADDER REMOVAL SURGERY. WILL THE USE OF LIBOTRYP CAUSE KIDNEY OR LIVER DAMAGE? ## Most medications are processed through the liver and long-term use of them risks organ damage, however, no one can definitively say that they will or will not cause it in any particular person. Some people will develop problems and some won't, that is how it works with any medication and the reasons why it happens to some people and not others is unknown. Libotryp contains Amitriptyline and Chlordiazepoxide, it is most commonly used as an antidepressant, but can also help with anxiety.
