I just want to say i smoked for 25 years and have tried to quit many times. I've tried patches, hypnosis, gum and cold turkey and never made it. This time I KNOW it's gone for good. Will expired Chantix still work?

My chantix prescription has expired, is it still effective? I would like to try to quit smoking again without the cost that's involved. If its still good? ## Unfortunately the sell by date with meds is important depending on how its stored after the expiration date its less effective but if stored under the correct temperatures it can last much longer. Humidity & heat tends to effect the meds. ## Tina, what's the expiration date listed on the prescription? Certain meds should not be taken past the expiration date but I don't know if Chantix is one of them. Anyone lost sense of taste and smell on champix?

Hi I started taking champix in October 2011 was only on them for a few weeks I am bipolar and found myself severely down so I stopped taking them I've also found that things don't taste or smell the same anymore I can't eat cucumber as it now tastes vile even fried food or fatty foods also taste rank! All smells seem to merge in to one and it's really annoying I can even smell my perfume or shampoos anymore! Has anyone had these problems? Will my body ever be the same again? Expired Chantix tablets

My tablets are 3 months out of date. Can I still take them? ## They don't become dangerous once expired, but they may begin to lose efficacy, and may not work as well as they did, when they were fresh. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Chantix as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes. Just starting

Day four of 1st Chantix use. Have to stop w/ chronic bronchitis and am using the support system online of exercises. Will use the coach line. Slight headache or from the coughing? Tired a bit or from not exercising enough which helps my energy level and need to knock off pounds. A walk this morning helped with a tape of an inspirational author I love. Then I got depressed for awhile missing my deceased parents and self loathing over my nicotine addicted life. I can't imagine using this medicine with other meeds, alcohol, or if I had mental illness so people have to do it with their doctor. It's like with all scripts--read and beware. Is Chantix Safe For People with Depression?

I'm getting terrified after reading some Chantix horror stories and people who report never being the same after taking it. I just took my first dose of Chantix. Leading up to the decision to try it, I've been severely depressed for the past 3-4 months and recently began thinking that if I can just quit smoking I'll be healthier, able to exercise, date (not too many smoker lovers out there) and generally feel better. I now wonder if I'm better off smoking. I'm 32 (female if it matters) & already think that my seratonin levels/receptors are screwed up thanks to years of anti depressants (sertraline, generic for Zoloft). L190 round white pill

I found a large round white tablet with L190 on one side and nothing on the other side. Please identify. ## I cannot find a listing for this in any of my resources, which is probably because most tablets marked with an L followed by additional numbers are over the counter products. So far so good

I started taking Chantix last week. I have tried before over and over again to quit but to no prevail nothing seemed to work until now. From the moment I started taking Chantix it was almost like I didnt think about smoking for the 1st week I would have about 3 cig a day and going from a pack and half to two a day thats pretty darn good. I do have some side affects, I get naueous in the morning but I find if I drink a glass of water first it goes away quicker I also have weird dreams but not necessarially bad, and loss of appetite, I also seem to be calmer, which I think is a good thing. Chantix and Very High Blood Sugar

My husband started taking Chantix 3 weeks ago and is doing well with not smoking, however, he is a type 2 diabetic but he has also controlled it with diet and Metformin twice daily. Now since he has been on Chantix, his blood sugar level has been over 600. We went to the doctor yesterday and he told him that it was the Chantix and stop taking it. He is watching everything that he eats and drinks and this morning his blood sugar is still 440. The doctor is sending him to a Diabetic Control Center but it is going to be a week or so. Chantix and Insurance Coverage

I want to quit smoking but my insurance won't cover Chantix. Can anyone help? ## I don't think anyone's insurance covers it unfortunately. However ask your doctor if she has a coupon. My doctor gave me one for $30 off which made it like $120. Still expensive but hopefully worth it!! ## I've noticed some drug companies offer coupons also - maybe contact Pfizer directly. ## If your insurance company has a healthy living type program (Cigna does for ex) you can contact them & tell them that you want to use this to stop smoking. They sent me 2 months worth for free!
