Antabuse use with alcohol

I took 1 250mg around 11:00am. Will anything happen if I use any product that contains alcohol? ## It will do what it is supposed to, it may cause nausea, vomiting, flushing, sweating, thirst, fainting, and weakness, according to FDA reports. It is best to avoid all products containing alcohol, while taking Antabuse. Is there anything I can help with?

Naltrexone and kratom

I've been taking approximately 6g of kratom every 4 to 6 hours for about 2 years now. I want to use a weight loss medication which contains naltrexone but wonder if it will cause withdrawal sickness because of my kratom use? ## Hi, I am in the same boat as you. Have not been using Kratom that long (about 6 months) but want to start Contrave for weight loss. I am also hoping the naltrexone will help me not use the Kratom anymore as I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to quit for a few weeks now. I think it will help with that but my concern now is that I will go into extreme withdrawals when I take the first dose. Did you end up taking yours? ## Personally, I think it would be best to consult a doctor for the purpose of setting up a tapering schedule with kratom in order to lessen an...

Help should I try vivitrol

I've been a drug addict for 8 yrs. I've been on suboxone 1 time in my life for about a year then was clean for about 3. My grand mother died and needless to say I relapsed. I'm ready to get help again and the Dr. that helped me last time is only willing to help me with vivitrol. I've got hep.c and i know it's not good to do vivitrol with hep. C and very bad depression on top of it. My question is. I feel as if he is kinda pushing it on me and I have feeling I want stay on vivitrol cause the idea of knowing I'm going to have withdraws and I can't do nothing about it scares me to death plus all the side effects doesn't help either. So how do I get my dr. To understand that and maybe try suboxone instead cause it worked last time. Or am I just wrong all toge...

Hi... my husband has been addicted to pain pills off and on for the past 5 years, with things getting really out of hand the past year. Almost 2 weeks ago he went to detox and rehab. He AMA'ed out of rehab 3 days ago because he said he couldn't take it. He is willing try something to help him control his cravings. I've done some reading on Naltrexone and was wondering how well it works and if anyone knows of a doctor in the Houston area that prescribes it? Right now he needs all the help that he can get. Thank you! =) ## Hi, I was hooked on pills and opiates for 5 years. Heavy user. Tried to quit many times. Plus two state run detox. Failed them all. I know everyone gets really sick. alcohol addiction

My husband is an alcoholic and trying hard to to stop drinking ,however this is very dangerous n we are wanting know how to slowly taper off and for how long without causing himself death or seizures ..any answers would be very appreciated our marriage depends on this for he is very angry on alcohol ## I am sorry about what you're dealing with. All addictions are tough. The best thing for him to do, for his own safety, would be to get medical help and possibly the support of something like AA. How much does he drink and how often? Does he spend any time sober? ## For withdrawal there is physical consequences such as seizures. He should stop cold turkey under guidance from your doctor who could prescribe drugs such as valium. Alcohol damages brain cells which resultsinthe above plus p...

Psychological addiction to alcohol

After a serious alcohol induced illness I have never touched it again, 3 years completely dry. I have no physical craving but still seek in my life the 'feel good' that came from booze. I seek that buzz in other unharmful things or activities but it never seems to reach that 10 out 10 feeling that booze gave me. Consequently I believe I'm still addicted to the effect of alcohol. Do others have this problem, or understand mine? Does anyone know others in the same position who have used naltrexone for this situation? My life is trouble and generally stress free and I'm very fortunate so it's not life doing this. I'd really like to find a doctor or psychologist that has worked with this situation using naltrexone to treat it. Would really appreciate any information ...

Esperal implant

I want to know that how much time disulfiram releases from ESPERAL implant and where it is implanted? I also want to know the name of the manufacturer of Esperal. ## One manufacturer that I have found listed for the implants is Laboratoires Thersa in France, however, I do not know if they still make it. I also cannot discover how often or how much is released by them, nor the location they are implanted. It does not appear to be used in this manner in the U.S., so there isn't a lot of details available. Does anyone else know anything? ## I am also looking for Disulfiram implants for my husband. All I have found so far is a clinic in Europe alustonhealth.com/disulfiram-implants 10 x 100mg pellets are implanted under the skin. It works for at least 1 year. ## Hi, I just want to know i...

Half life of Alcohol

What is the half life of alcohol in a "normal" adult? ## Wikipedia has an excellent article on Alcohol. It states that Alcohol does not have a typical "half life" as other drugs do, but it is eliminated from the blood stream at a constant rate. ("ethanol does not have an elimination half-life (i.e., is not metabolized at an exponential rate), and instead, is eliminated from the circulation at a constant rate.") It also says "The mean elimination rates for ethanol are 15 mg/dL per hour for men and 18 mg/dL per hour for women, with a range of 10 to 34 mg/dL per hour." Duration of action: 6 - 16 hours, but "Ethanol or its metabolites may be detectable in urine for up to 96 hours (3-5 days) after ingestion" ## Thanks Roy. I was wondering why I could n...

Pain relief with Naltrexone

I was prescribed Contrave for weight loss. I also have a injury to my right upper arm and shoulder that has made me unable to move my my arm more than 6 inches forward, backwards and out to the side without causing horrible pain. My doctor prescribed Tramadol and occasionally Vicodin for pain relief. Fast forward 5 yrs. Opiod crisis. Doctor stops my prescription. Go thru withdraw and Pain is none stop. Enter Contrave...with it's LDN (low dose naltrexone & bupropion) Within a week the pain is subsiding. On week 4 it's gone! No more pain..I can move my arm as if it had never been injured. I read about LDN (opiod antagonist used to treat opiod addicts by stopping the effects of opiods...and yet it also seems to relieve some kinds of pain like migraines and fibromyalgia). I am w...

Can an EtG test be passed after 30 hours sober?

I've been clean from alcohol for 30 hours. I've had a gallon of water yesterday and one before testing. I drank creatine mixture to raise my levels. Should I pass a etg? ## Depends on how much you drank, when you stopped and how many hours after the test, plus your metabolism factors in. There is no way to speed up the clearance from the body and dilution of the urine is your best bet. Eat a lot of red meat which will keep the creatinine level up and be a little over-hydrated when you go in. some places will consider a too dilute urine a positive, FYI. Many people have passed in less than 24 hours with 1-2 drinks. normal drinking would very often pass in 48 hours. also depends on what you would call a "drink", lol. but if you drank a pint of vodka and testing today or to...

Antabuse and weight

I've been taking antabuse for 20 days now, which is truely a blessing, freeing my mind. I haven't thought about alcohol and I truely believe It's helping me in many ways. However, I know what to do to lose weight, and I know how my body works. I'm very health oriented (beside the alcohol binges I took part in) and I can't seem to lose any weight. I've had a rutine for years now, and since the antabuse it has changed, and I notice It. Anyone else notice anything with antabuse and weight? I'd like to hear about It :D Thanks for reading this! ## Have you consulted your doctor? In most cases, people actually lose weight while taking Antabuse, due to the fact that since they aren't drinking their caloric intake is lower and there is less fluid retention. ## Hi...

esperal

my brother is a cronich alkocholic all family is safering.. doktor prescribe esperal implant could please tell us side efects and where to find in our country ther i sno possibility.. ## The biggest advantage of Esperal comparing to Disulfiram (Antabuse) pills is that it does not maintain a level of Disulfiram in the blood stream. Esperal is a microchip that tests blood stream for ethanol concentration around the clock and only if this level goes up, which means that the patient consumed alcohol, Esperal drops one crystal of highly concentrated Disulfiram and the reaction starts. Which means that Esperal has virtually no side effects. In my practice, I had only one patient from almost one thousand who violated the rules and activated the implant. ## Do you have there any testimonials fr...

dark red maroon purple gel capsule marked with as+ cc

Hi. I'm looking to identify a dark red sort of maroon purple gel capsule...says "as+ cc" on it in white letters. I found it in the bathroom garbage popped open at one end. The person who put it there is an (ex? Is there such a thing) opiate addict allegedly on vivitrol, who overdosed twice last week on some type of injected drug. He is his own problem at 31 years old, but I'm curious... Thanks. ## May have been Accutane. Or Coricidin - would this person be getting messed up on Dextromethorphan ## That is listed as being an Alka Seltzer Plus Cough & Cold gelcap, which contains Acetaminophen, Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, and Dextromethorphan, it is usually used to treat cold symptoms. NDC: 00280-1121 As Marvin stated, some people do abuse these medications, due to ...

Nasty taste in mouth from Vivitrol?

I'm taking Vivitrol for opiate suspension. It's working wonders for me...but I have a horrible taste in my mouth....and everything I try to eat or drink doesn't taste as it should. Even brushing my teeth is challenging, because of the taste. Does anyone else have this problem? What did you do? ## Hello, Teri! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, a change in taste is a reported side effect of Vivitrol, along with congestion, fear and lack of appetite. I've had a couple medications that have caused such an issue and the only thing I really found that helped me was to suck on strong candy, or sip cola throughout the day. Have you asked your doctor if they have any solutions? ## Thank you for replying! :) Yes, I've been sipping soda, an...

Naltrexone implant and still drinking

Hi. I have had the naltrexone implant for approx 2 months now. When I got it I cried with relief when driving home because I thought it would be my saviour after everything I heard and read. I have been a black out drinker for over 10 years now. Have done detoxes, one rehab, two years of AA and nothing helped. Continued to have the never ending torture of thinking about the damn drink. But I'm devastated that I'm still drinking most nights on this thing. I know it's psychological, it's definitely not physical cravings. I am forcing large quantities of discusting tasteting cheap vodka down my through because I just can't handle being sober. Always so scared to be sober. I don't enjoy drink anymore and go straight to black out drunk yet I can't stop. Getting ve...

Vivitrol and Headaches

Hi! I've tried to do some research on my own regarding this; however, most of the search results sing praise & glory about how great & awesome Vivitrol is. Not that I necessarily disagree but this headache is so debilitating that I'm not sure Vivitrol is the answer for me; that is, if it is the cause. I do see headaches noted as a common side effect but it is not a side effect that indicates to contact a health care professional or obtain immediate care or emergency care. Here goes… I received my 1st Vivitrol shot on April 24th and have had a continuous headache ever since. The headache started about an hour after I received the shot. It has gradually worsened to the point that it is taking over my life and just about anything can intensify it; sweeping the floor, ...

Livolin forte

What is cirrhosis of the liver with a HAI-Knodell of 6, as evidenced by a liver biopsy? After my blood test, it was found that I had a high reading on AST, ALT and GGT. Is it ok if I take livolin forte at this moment? Please advise. Thank you. ## Cirrhosis occurs, when normal, healthy liver tissue is replaced with other tissue, such as scar tissue. It can be caused by various liver diseases, alcoholism, some medications and other medical conditions. As to taking anything, even a nutritional supplement, some things are processed by the liver and could cause further damage. Therefore, I can only suggest that you discuss using it, with your doctor, before taking anything. You can learn more about Cirrhosis here: Have you consulted your doctor? ## May i please know how effective livolin for...
