I want to know the same thing. I went yesterday and I was positive for Morphine, Hydromorphone, hyrdrocodne and oxycodone. The only hard drugs I take are Opana 30mg, Klonopin.5, Restoril 15mg, zanaflex. He got all over me and I haven't taken anything other than what I am RX'ed. I have Lupus, IC, Behcets Dx and several other automunine diseases, but I have never abused my medicine or taken something that wasn't mine.

This is the same thing that my mom's Dr is saying. This is crazy because people in pain can't go through this. It's hard enough that there cutting peoples medications down but it's got to have something to do with the opanas having morphine in them when they metabolize. Please let me know if you all find any other info out.

I think at our age this is all just petty God syndrome of doctors----is old folks in pain don't have the luxury of feeling high from ANY drug!!!! With our pain levels all of our pain meds will go to our receptors and trust me, there isn't any extra floating around causing euphoria...some of us, me included have EDS not elhers syndrome but endogenous deficiency so really, a somewhat high dose barely registers in our systems and we are always at risk of showing ZERO medication in our system even when compliant.. Come on COMPLIANT should not even be used unless we are criminals!

SAME issue here!! I am prescribed Oxycodone 30mg throughout the day & Oxycontin ER (OP's) 10mg. at night for breakthrough pain. That & Adderall (& Wellbutrin) is ALL I take. I tested POS on a UDS for "hydromorphone." PM Doc asked why there was Dilaudid in my system?! I have never been Rx'd nor taken that drug. I also know for certain my pills didn't get mislabeled/mixed up because I know what they look like & what the stamp is on each pill, etc. Basically, I KNOW for certain that it tested positive DESPITE the fact that I definitely did NOT take Dilaudid. Also, when I looked into it, it seems that hydromorphone POS doesn't always mean you took Dilaudid- It can test POS for that if you take morphine, and even if you take hydrocodone, codeine, or heroin, because those can all metabolize into hydromorphone, a metabolite of the original substances listed. However, I also did not take any of those substances; only the ones I mentioned at the beginning of my message. So, the question is- If Oxycodone/Oxycontin cannot metabolize into hydromorphone, HOW is it in my system according to the UDS???

Endogenous endorphin deficiency syndrome... first of all, it's not in the dsm-iv or v, so you can only have self diagnosed it, how is a dr gonna diagnosis you with something not even accepted as a disease or pathology? Secondly, if it is a real pathology, which I bet it is, there's no blood test or way to confirm it other than by questioning the patient. Thirdly, the only cure would be to take exogenous endorphins like natural, semi synthetic, and fully synthetic opiates. Did you really get a dr to prescribe narcotics for a disease not even recognized?

For chronic pain from various conditions, also chronic pain is a symptom if EDS, my first opiate prescription was at 8 yrs. of age, so my receptors never fully developed to begin with--other symptoms of EDS look like bi-polar, which I have been diagnosed with--but my last good primary care doc said "hogwash!" You are not bi-polar, nothing is wrong with your mental health-you have physical conditions--look up the article-Ignorance Kills

Here is your answer...if you take Opana or oxymorphone (generic name) you will test positive for morphine, oxycodone, and oxymorphone and the metabolites of all three. If you are prescribed oxymorphone and test positive for morphine but not oxymorphone they know you have taken morphine alone and the same with oxycodone. If you are taking oxymorphone you will always test positive for morphine and oxycodone along with oxymorphone. I've been taking ms contain and opana for a couple years now and have my urine tested every 3 months and sent to a lab not the cup test in office and have looked at the results each time. If your doctor is telling you that you should not test positive for morphine he/she doesn't know what they are talking about and at the very least I would challenge that if not find another doctor. I'm not positive but I think you also test positive for hydromorphone but I won't say for sure. I am absolutely confident in telling you'll that you will test positive for morphine. Hope that helps you all.

I tested positive for morphine and I take 80 milligrams are oxycontin and 30 milligram oxycodone immediate release I would like to know if those together can show up as morphine in a urine test because I take nothing but what I am prescribed and I feel they're doing something just to get me out of the pain management. In 8 years I've never had a positive test for morphine until I got a new person at the pain management and the first time he texted me I became positive for morphine. I feel like I'm being singled out without even being given something for the withdrawals or even slow slowly lowering my doses. I have never taken morphine and I am literally going crazy being accused of doing drugs that I am NOT doing! Please someone help me here and they told me that my test did not show up with morphine. Please help me!

The opanas metabolizes into morphine. If you call you normal pharmacy if they know you pretty good they will look it up and print you out a statement that says the opana does metabolize into morphine. Since opana is a newer medication they haven't really looked into it or if you take a litlle extra meds or are on high does they will show up as morphine as well. They've done this to my mother at all three Dr.s she's been to but they are fighting and saying that's not the way it should come back but it's not true.

Wow! I think I'm getting discharged next--they finally after a year checked my levels of oxy and I know they were low. I told them they would be low as I hadn't taken any for a UA. They know that I have to take Xtra to show in the UA. I finally found out why! I'm menopausal and got switched to fentanyl as my long acting. Great for pain but horrible for levels! I found after starting to except use again and having a horrible Cortisol Crash-that fentanyl and other extended release opiates lower the effectiveness and level of your adrenal system! When that happens you only get about 20% of your instant release oxycodone. I complained two months after being on fentanyl that my oxycodone use was acting like when I was on phenytoin and I thought I was hyper metabolizing again. I wasn't! I am only getting 20% of my dose! Why aren't pain doctors aware of these possibilities? Why are we all treated and expected to have same results? Why should we have to spend hours and hours each day trying to find out what is going on? Because pain docs only know 2 things. What to look for in an addict. And how to treat all their patients as such.

try having a bad past and getting hurt you would think I murdered someone. I understand pain pills are addictive, but I'm giving up my life for drugs i am a strong willed person, but the lack of pain management because of junky's just about caused me to have a nervous break down.

I know that opana metabolizes into morphine but these Dr's don't know that and my mother has been discharged from 3 Dr's due to this. It is really crazy that these Dr's don't know this and they have made my mother suffer due to this. So make sure that you do.your research and show your Dr's this when your being seen st appointment so they can look into things better.

Oxycodone metabolizes into oxymoron, plain and simple. Your dr should know that.

My wife failed for xtc, methamphetamine, speed, amphetamines and the doctor kicked her out even though this happened before. She immediately went to the lab bc she new it was from sudafed allergy pills. Turns out cheap drug tests have many false positives for over the counter, herbs, and many other things especially prescriptions. Try not to take anything not prescribed and research any false positives. U should go to the ER and demand a gas spectrometer test, also send hair out for testing bc it goes back months so u can clear your name. There's only like a half a dozen to a dozen maybe even less labs that meet federal guidelines for drug testing due to false positives. That's why drug testing welfare recipients or people on parol is bs bc u can send someone to jail or take their kids away for something they didn't do.

AMUS the worse thing about, and the cause for most of our discharges and/or dismissal from Pain Management is that once our doctors graduated from Medical School; they stopped learning! We as patients cannot show them or tell them anything regarding our pain treatment! If we suppose to know anything in our best interest it is due solely to us being addicts and certainly not due to having access to unlimited information via the Internet on these portable tiny, personal computers otherwise known as 'smartphones'. Our entire generation referred to as Baby Boomers, are now the majority of pain patients. We all know how the 70's turned out and the results of it are that we do require higher doses of most of our medications, not just pain medication. Clearly our doctors slept through the lessons on how opiates work, the alkaloids used to process them, the long term effects of The Woodstock Era on Pain Patients and other nuances of opiate use that we continually get punished for.....whew I'm beat... I'll finish this later this week.

I take 30 mg of morphine er 2x day and 15 mg of roxicodone 4x a day. My dr only had an appointment 5 days after i was out of meds. I took an opana 40mg 4 days before my appointment. Will they be able to detect the opana if they urine test me?

I think you mean that oxycodone metabolizes as oxymorphone not oxymoron. All I take is oxycodone and oxymorphone comes out in the drug ua. Fortunately my doc knows that and oks it.

Re: Deni (# 22) Expand Referenced Message

Opana er is oxymorphone not morphine. Morphine is ms contin. Opanas can show up as a minor metabolite of morphine, as the cyp450 converts a tiny amount of it to morphine. You can also test positive for oxymorphone if you take oxycodone as roughly 15% of it converts in the liver to oxymorphone. However if you only take oxymorphone and no oxycodone, you will not test positive for oxycodone as it doesn't reverse cycle back.

Because opana ER is a name brand product of MORPHINE! If you look it up it's easy to see!

Re: Morphined out (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

Morphine is a Metabolyte of Oxycodone and Oxycontin and those two will always turn into Morphine. This doctor does not know what is going on evidently.
