Need To Find A Doctor That Prescribes Pain Meds In Knoxville Tn (Top voted first)

I just moved here and i have ra along with degenerative disc disorder that is extremely painful. I dont have a doc. so i haven't been taking any meds and it is hard to just walk. I am in pain everyday and need relief fast. Is there anyone y'all can suggest that may be able to help now?

Am just posting a reply to a great deal of ignorance I just got through reading here. For you folks that are asking for a pain med that doesnt have the crap associated with it like "acetaminophens etc.that damage so many things in your body then a couple of you said some profound things. Methadone. If you care to do the research and I recommend one that "really" has pain all the time should you will find that it is one of the least invasive substances you can use to help yourself, Now, if you are looking for EUPHORIA or wanting to get high then perhaps you should continue licking or what the helll ever folks do to get to the "drug" that is perhaps coated or whatever inisde of drugs like oxycontin or other timed released things that get you high. I laugh when I read all the complaints about some company that had to put special ingredients to keep the junkies from injecting them or whatever and how these folks were mad because they were having to do something to (as in someones statement above "GET OFF") by breaking down some timed release coating. If that is what you are doing then you need a damn psychiatrist and not a pain doctor. You are the very people that are making it hard for folks with plausible problems that need help to walk etc. Not help to walk screwed up or clean up your house quicker, or whatever. I am so frustrated hearing folks that have no medical problem except addiction trying to lie, fraud or whatever just to get meds that folks with legitimate reasons have hard times getting. The doctors at pain clinics ( some of them) save folks at the end of their line every day but folks wanting to "get off" screw that up for everyone. Why dont you go out and get hooked on heroin if that is what your after and leave the legitimate patients a chance. If you are truly in chronic pain and are trying to work and not live every f ing day of your life hurting like hell then methadone is a legitimate response. I have taken it for 14 years and it allows me to function. And yes I did a great deal of reasearch and while methadone when not taken properly or for the folks wanting to get high then know this. You screw around with methadone it will kill you. But to listen to your doctor and go by his knowledge instead of the knowledge some of you think you have and have a legitimate reason for taking it then it can really help.No you dont get high on it, It just does one thing for pain patients and it does it well. It gets rid of your pain. As for the unfortunate souls that said it turned them into zombies? Somehow I feel like they fit that description long before pain became an issue. Just educate yourself tremendously. And for the other ones that are looking to get high, go get heroin,and quit screwing around with the medical profession, which will get you away from folks that really need these meds to get BY not to get HIGH. As for the lady that is offering to sell her "extra" pills I thought I had heard it all before but I guess not. Extra my a**, this is the worst part of the problem, How is it that you can sit back, screw up other folks lives without a care in the world, making it hard for the ones that need meds and yet you have the nerve to profit off of others problems. Is money worth that much to you Marge????? You just need to be thankful Im not working in Federal Law Enforcement anymore. You are tempting me to come out of retirement.

I live in Knoxville and go to a pain dr. to get methadone for my pain! Best choice out there, very cheap! Don't want to give info on my post. I will tell you where you can go if you just call me!

This person who calls herself MARGO, & MARGIE is a TOTAL SCAM & RIP OFF! She ripped me off & then had the nerve to threaten me!! DO NOT USE THIS SICK PERSON who acts like she gives a shi. about people in pain!! She will even send you a pic but she doesnt even have any!

Hi. I finally got moved to K'ville from Fla and it was exactly the horror show people have posted! Fla used to have these problems but simply closed the pill mills without making patients suffer. Tenn COULD do the same. What will happen now is an increased number of suicides and heroin abuse. Watch. I went to Synergy as my primary is owned by them. I am a disabled reporter and still dress like one. Matt, a PA there, told me "We can't hand out pills just because you are dressed nice." What?! After he screwed up my Rx I had to go BACK the next day after a four hour visit. Then it took 7 days (counting weekend) for CVS to get the drug in, during which time I had nothing but my breakthrough meds! I have severe progressive neuropathy, several amputations on my feet, and osteomyelitis. I had been stable in Fla for FOUR YEARS on 120mgs morphine 2x day with 15mg oxy as breakthrough. I rarely took half the oxys my pain was so well-controlled. When I first moved here my MS-Contin was cut 40mg a day as the Dr said they were by law not allowed to go over 200 units of morphine a day. Today I called the State licensure board in Nashville and spoke with the Asst. Director who said there was no law or regulation that stipulated this. On my second visit they reduced my MS-Contin to 80mg and my breakthrough meds by a third. I am now experiencing withdrawal and I'm back in pain. The guy Matt was 'no longer there' but Dr Redmond would only refer me to their new pain specialist. Apparently he ran a pain clinic but had not received specialized training. For such a so called 'Christian' state I have noticed pain patients are treated like a pariah to be pushed away and ignored. It's easy to yap about addiction if you've never been in pain. When the suicide rates jump in Tenn remember my post. You medical 'professionals' should be ashamed.

YOU said it right!!I am from michigan just over a year..I was recommend to this off in Tennessee by a family member of my boyfriend..I have been in pain management for years..been threw all the ejections and on and on..I feel pain daily..and now I am left lost and suffering..and I some how can't help but be so angry over this..it's not a joke.. the ones who really need meds are suffering.. I so hope all involved are jailed..I trusted this dr. Yet I haven't received a call don't know how to go about getting my records.. but I bet all the "junkies" are figuring it all out! U are so right if u have legitimate pain..it goes to the pain. I wish I cud figure out a solution...but because I trusted this dr. I'm judged..I don't want to run to emergency rooms..so i just suffer..sadly

You know, with all of the problems I am having and other people share with regards to getting pain relief in Tennessee, I thought: you used to be a reporter. Just because you cannot work physically does not mean you cannot work mentally. I have decided to propose a lengthy article to one of the well-known Knoxville monthly magazines, the Knoxville Mercury. I have spoken with the editor, who talked with me about last month's cover article on the rise of heroin abuse. I told him to expect the heroin use with all the death and horror that brings to increase, as will the suicides by disabled people unable to get adequate relief. This happened in Florida, and finally a family sued the state and won $200 million dollars and now they are more "reasonable". The editor asked me to talk to the Managing Editor...which I have not done yet. For me this is a big step. I am and have been a pain patient. I am now being subjected to multiple urine drug screens and pill counts (which technically only a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacist should do) simply because when I first started at the clinic I had multiple drugs in my system. ALL of them were prescribed to me by my doctors before I moved. I knew it would take a while to get established, so I took what medication I had. I'm not sure how that violates ANY law or even the "agreement" I signed with the pain clinic. They told me the story about no more than 200mg morphine per day (which I disproved by calling the office that issues their licenses in Nashville) and then told me that pain medication only stays in your urine for 3 days (with a straight face this was said to me by a PA) and therefore WHY, sir, do you have hydrocodone in your system? Answer: because I took hydrocodone prescribed to me during the time immediately before the urine test and my signing the pain contract. A simple Internet search reveals that urine tests are valid for more than 3 days when you are a long-time pain patient. You know, if you have a problem with me pick up the phone and CALL my previous doctors and pharmacy. They never had a problem with me. Don't lie and tell me things that are not true. Still, I would suggest that if you can deal with the long wait and you make sure you QUESTION anything that sounds off to you, Synergy is a good place. The people ARE caring (at least, all of them by the aforementioned 'Matt' I wrote about in my last post), they have just been frightened. Well, doctors of Tennessee, stand up and act like you have some pride! Do NOT let these officials tell you what is best for your patients! I think an article on pain patients is long overdue in the local press...but I am scared this will piss off my doctors.

You're welcome & glad I can help! First off, my treatment by them began with a referral from my former doctor when I moved closer to the clinics area in '09. I DO know that they will require a referral reguardless of the situation. I DON'T know if the Memphis/Knoxville distance will be an issue, but I can tell you that I still live an hour (about 60 miles) from their clinic and it isn't an issue. I can also tell you that they require a strict monthly appt. regiment. I only tell you that because I've asked if I could be seen every other month to save on transportation costs and the answer was a big no due to insurance issues or something like that :-( Anyway, I hope I've answered your questions and if I can help further, just ask! I know this is an older post & I hope you have found help but in case you are still looking, so am I! I can give you some very good advice...never tell them what you want! It makes the clinic think your an addict last....don't ever go to Dr. Browder at East Tennessee Pain clinic over on Wisecarver or even in Oak Ridge! First he's the worst and most arragant Doctor I have ever come across as are most of his NP's! They are all mean and rude and treat you like your some sort of *****! There is no respect in that office at all! Dr Browder will never see you unless you are getting pain block injections, even if you specifically make an appt with him you will get one of his obnoxious flunkies, not him! By law he's only required to drug screen once a. Year! He does it monthly on most people & not because there is even a reason....he makes most of his money off these urine tests! He charges $550.00 for a basic 10 panel test! He does this in his own office but will swear he sends it out & that's the reason for the high price! I have never come across so very many rude people as I have in that office! The wait time is ridiculous and you get about 10 minutes to see the NP after waiting sometimes for over an hour and a half! They don't care if your in pain, you do what they tell you, when they tell you and how often they tell you! And what ever you go there for originally, that's it! You develop something else, your out of luck with this doctor and his Gustapo! He takes care of one thing and one thing only no matter what may happen to you! But if you are that desperate for pain meds, and you don't mind the awful nurse assistants that are only supposed to take your weight, blood pressure, and count pills insulting you, the Obnoxious NP's insulting you, plus the rude office help, then you'll love this place! I stopped going there a long time ago! I'm still looking for a new clinic but this office will purposely ruin your chances of getting any other pain treatment in TN! All Dr Browder is interested in is money, for all of his expensive possessions and this includes his very own pain treatment! You would think he'd be a lot more sympathetic because he is in horrible pain! But the only one in his eyes that's in real pain is him!!

methadone was the only drug that didn't affect my brain the way other opiates did. I started with 20mg a day then after about a year I went on 30mg for 4 years and after that long it did not help the pain, so to get off I reduced the dose by 2 1/2 mg per month with no withdrawal effects. I have pain 24/7, but live with it. After having rods done in my back twice, a plate in my neck and a botched hip replacement and in need of a knee replacement for 2 years now, I'm surviving with the help of a relationship with Jesus and weekly visits to my chiropractor and many food supplements. The drugs will kill you sooner than living with the pain.

How can I get ahold of u . . . . I live in sevierville I have been in pain for 8 years now and taking methadone for 5 years now and there is no question its better for u and less $$$ ya know I have all the nessacary paperwork and would appreciate it if u cld help me find the right place. I was seeing a place in Kingsport and they Are a Bunch of Sexual Harassing a**holes and some women may be that way some of these junkie drug pheens but I am not putting up with it so my appointment was 2 days ago so I need to get in somewhere asap I thank u for ur help :-) methadone is not something I can go without and I am a mother and need to provide for him I cant in pain thx

Some folks on here don't recommend my clinic, but I have no issue with them. Active Pain Treatment with Dr. Fox & 3 N.P.'s in knoxville have been treating me for 4 yrs. I've never actually even met Dr. Fox and see one of his N.P.'s. She is very kind and understanding. For folks just looking for a drug dealer need not apply. They follow all the rules. Ive been on the fentanyl patch for years and am very grateful for the moderate relief they bring. Good luck to you and God bless!
