I found Subutex in my daughter's room with a needle. Do people really IV this? Why do people take it that dont need it?

I have been an opiate user ever since i had surgery on my back starting with vicodin a few years ago and slowly went threw all the main meds until my doctor reached oxcy 30s the blue ones. I lost my insurance and couldn't afford my meds any more so started withdrawing and found what i was told are bueps. started snorting a quarter a pill a day to feel good and now important up to a whole pill or two a day. i want to just be done with this s*** but can't stand getting sick. my question is this, will the pill show up on a standard ua test for employment or do they have to specifically have to test for it?

Here is the deal, I am 27 years old, i started using pills and heroine when i was 16, i have been sober for the last 23 months. No pills no suboxone, no subutex. I know by my medical profession, and also my education from the school of hard knocks, everyone is different. From personal experience, i have watched people shoot up suboxone when they had never touched an opiate. Circumstances play into everyones choices and addiction. But people should be a little nicer, addiction is hell, i lived it for so long, i am suprised i made it out alive, but here i am, and all i want to do is help. If i were to find a needle and pill in a childs room i would seek out an inpatient rehab. I did a 90 day program and had to relearn how to do day to day things. I have been an active member in Na an my life is good. I am happy, and i view each day as an adventure.

Methadone is the hardest to get off suboxen and subutex is the best to keep from doing other drugs and people that shoot it uslol do it to do alot less and to make one last alot longer. When i do dope i have to do a half gram a day i can shoot a little suboxen and make one 8mg last a week doing a little pice by pice when on suboxen i am more focused on work and important stuff while dope i dont care bout much yea u withdrawal hard when switing to sub but its a little down side to getting well. Dont go for methadone cuz if u stop going its worse getting off i was on 80mg it took a week and two suboxen a day just to get normal then had to ween down from the subs worse week!

Would like to know if this would help a person who's trying get off a percots or roxy pills? Someone mention it send you straight into withdrawal? Do it help yes or no? Is this better than suboxen? Heard the subnex was better and non addictive?

Some of you are very ignorant. Putting people down because of spelling etc..
People have problems and are looking for help, not to be put down by long winded know it alls. Your low self esteem shows with your put downs. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Umm, actually.. I believe most of this is from people's personal experiences. And yes, you can shoot subutex or suboxone. You won't get sick unless you just recently did an opiate: heroin, oxies. That's the instant withdrawal people speak of. But shooting subs can really destroy your veins, can really mess up your vision long term, can end in arm amputation if you miss. It really is nasty, and way too much in it to be shot. I used to shoot it for over a year, until one day it started burning my arm so intensely and I would get red bumps everywhere... And no-/it was not a miss. Strips or pills can both be shot. But I don't recommend it. You don't get any rush. It would only serve a purpose if you're trying to do less sub.. But the withdrawals are way worse when shooting it. It's stupid. Suboxone you can't really overdose on though, while with subutex you CAN . So if you're looking to shoot subs, don't. It'll be one more addiction. Take them for the right reasons. I know some people get high off them, which to me is unthinkable. So whatever. To the person going on about misinformation--please, tell us what you find to be "wrong," and correct us. I would love to know;) I wouldn't be taking anyone's word on this stuff, not even a doctors.. I have my own word to go by, as I've done this first hand and know because of that. But this woman is asking about her daughter shooting subs. I told her the truth, which is to get her the hell awAy from the stuff. My life was in a sense more ruined from subs than it was when I heroin. Just because maîntence drugs are so hard to quit period, and if you do quit, not many people stick with it as it takes so long to start feeling "normal" again.

i have fibromyagia(not correct spelling) and early symptoms of ms and i sue the drug subutex for pain instead of the opiods. It works wonders and doesnt give me that horrible coming down feeling i use to get from the opiods.

I just did a subutex just two hours after shooting up Herion and nothing happened. never done that with suboxone. so the subutex WILL NOT kick in withdrawals, I do not know about the suboxone

I have been taking both suboxone and subutex. The subutex will not make you sick regardless of how long its been since doing pills. I honestly insufflate the subutex and percocet all in the same day. You will still feel the percocet if you wait a few hours after subutex. The subutex will help with being dope sick and you won't have any withdrawals.

I was prescribed subutex last year when I found out I was pregnant because I was addicted to the opiate oxycodone 30 mg. pills around here called I.R.'s or instant release oxys. My Dr. couldn't get me into his office (where he was allowed to prescribe subutex) for 3 weeks so in the meantime he wrote me a script to percocet which was almost the same thing I was taking, along with clonedine, a blood pressure med. He told me where I was pregnant and high risk not to stop taking the oxys, and to take the blood pressure meds as needed when I was having hot flashes and withdrawl symptoms... After I got to his office I was prescribed the subutex and took it immediately, I had also take oxys that same day, within just a few hours apart actually. I did not get sent into withdrawl, I did not get sick. I immediately stopped taking the oxys and switched to the subutex and I never did experience any withdrawl from the oxys, I figured I would b/c I had tried methadone before and it took 2 wks to get in my system before it helped me any at all so I continued to use at that time. Then it was a B***H to come off of!!!! My baby was born not addicted to the subutex, he was healthy weighed 8lbs. I was switched to suboxone after he was born, and with this version of buprenorphine it will cause u to get sick if u take opiates with it. This type has a blocker in it called Naloxone. I haven't tried to take anything with this myself, I've had no desire, but... people I know have and they said it threw them into immediate withdrawl worse than if it had came on alone. My boyfriend actually was thrown into withdrawl just from drinking a few beers after taking suboxone. I myself never had that experience, but then again I don't drink much either.... a few sips is all. If u can get subutex I would recommend it b/c with suboxone it will block alot of stuff out. I think it blocked my birth control b/c I am pregnant again. There is no proof however. And if u get in a tragic accident and are in critical condition and in the hospital and they need to administer medication...especially those that may contain opiates... you are screwed b/c the suboxone will block it all out, so how would u be treated for a life threatening event in this case? That is what I have against it, here in my town though you can't get subutex unless u are pregnant! Maybe its different where u are. Wish u the best!

Ok Peps I've been reading these posts for 3 days off and on. I suppose that Lynn’s Daughters problem has ended or escalated since the 3 1/4 years ago it was posted, however others are interested for different reasons. I suppose that being I started shooting up in 1972 and a drug abuser ever sense I may be able to give some insight and truth to Suboxone and Subutex use. I purchased 23 8mg BU/2mg NAL Suboxone and 5 Subutex 8mg BU today and will buy half that amount next month and either quit or buy half of the previous month depending how I feel and quit. I took Methadone for over 3 years, was taking 120mg daily and had 29 take homes a month. I weaned myself down to 35mg methadone a week but sucked on several 60mg Morphine a day, morphine was all that I could take and feel with the done. Before that it was oxycontin, but I went from 1 drug of choice to another. I started at 14 shooting Bams (Preludin BI62 Pink with the yellow inside then they were changed to white on the inside to hinder the color of the strength of the cook)

Crack for about 15 years off and on. The sickest I ever felt was taking half of a 4mg/2mg Suboxone 20 hours after taking methadone, Do not take Suboxone for several days after Methadone, I had to snort 2 pure 30mg Oxys to feel better. The most harm that was done to my body was from the Methadone, Leave Methadone alone! Buprenorphine works by binding tightly to and dissociate slowly from endorphin receptors, giving it a slow onset and a long duration of action. Like other narcotics they attach to receptors in our nervous system the buprenorphine is only suitable as an opioid substitute in people who are moderately dependent on other opioids. This is because in addition to stimulating different opioid receptors, buprenorphine also blocks them. In people who are dependent on high doses of opioids, it can cause withdrawal symptoms when the buprenorphine is started. For this reason, in people highly addicted to opioids, the daily opioid dose should be reduced gradually before therapy with buprenorphine is started. However a lot of some narcotics will attach a little, while others hardly ever. Buprenorphine releases some of the endorphins but its receptor attachment is strong and makes it hard for most other type narcotics to attach.

Naloxone only in Suboxone also attaches to the same receptors but do not release endorphins, I only know of two opioids that will partially attach stronger than naloxone, buprenorphine is one of them. Naloxone is not absorbed through the mouth or sublingual, it is added to help prevent shooting the Suboxones. Absolutely do not take any Benzos with buprenorphine, I've several friends who used Subutex and Xanax and either stopped breathing or choked on their vomit, the have used the two many times before but unless someone was with them it was there last time with no warnings or problems mixing the two before. I did pay for 3 homes and raised 3 drug free children while using, I would only shoot up about 50 times a year in the last 30 years, to many marks. Anyhow I went from over 2500.00 a month to less than 300 a month the last 2 months and will spend no more on drugs to get high on by April. It’s getting old, I'm getting old, health is ok, but liver has cirrhosis from 28 years of HCV, that after the second 1 year treatment is now gone. I want to take long trips with no drug dependency and can save the money I used to waste on drugs for four years and with my investments retire in four years at 60..

You can take it about 6-8hrs after an opioid and it won't make u sick. It takes about a half hour to an hour to kick in and it's a much better method than methadone. It makes you happy and able to do your daily duties. I highly recommend for opioid addiction as I am seeing a suboxone provider monthly.

Take the subutex from her, and lock her in a room and make her go thru it cold turkey!! Suboxone/subutex/methadone is 10 times harder than heroin to quit !! Last time I quit subs, I was dope sick for 3 months straight! Yes, u get witjdrawL from subs, doctors lie. If she's doing heroin/opiates normally, get her into a detox/rehab center.. They will give her subutex or methadone to detox off the dope n get thru the nasty withdrawal. But do NOT let her get on subs long term.. Only In a one week tops detox setting!! I was on subs for 5 years, and still to this day I'm suffering post acute withdrawal . I don't think I'll ever feel right again.. The subs/methadone are just as bad as dope. For ppl that are bad shooting up dope everyday n need it to stay clean, that's the only case where it's ok to stay on it.. Cuz takin subs on a set schedule is better than shooting up n bein In the streets. Chances are ur daughters young like I was n someone started giving these to her, n she's too young n naive to kno what she's doing.. And it could end badly. So please make sure u try to help her.. Tough love is keyword.. No enabling, ANd if she stays on subs, she will regret it and wish she could just wake up n feel "normal" again. If ur over the urges and need to use , then there's no reason for subs. Apparently she's abusing the subs so I think she's looking for the rush. So try to get her in rehab n off the stuff. If she won't stop using, only then as a last resort try to get her on maîntence/sub treatment. But I'm telling u now.. There's no magic pill to get off subs like there is for heroin.. Good luck !!

yes but alot worse than just a vicodin!...im a recovering addict almost 2 years.... before i started using heroin i would be able to take 1/4th of a suboxone and i used to get high for 2 days straight just from that little peice...if your child is shooting anything its already VERY serious! and anyone who takes suboxone for fun now...will one day probably need it just not to get sick

yes people do shoot them up which is not safe. its for withdrawals from opiate use. The reason people take it when they don't need it is because it makes you feel kind of like you have taken an opiate such as vicodin
