Suboxone Overview

Buprenorphine/naloxone (trade name Suboxone) is a combination drug formulation of buprenorphine, a μ-opioid receptor (MOR) weak partial agonist and κ-opioid receptor antagonist, and naloxone, a MOR silent antagonist, in a 4:1 ratio.[1][2] It is used in the treatment of opioid dependence.[1][2] The purpose of naloxone is to deter intravenous abuse; parenteral administration rapidly induces opioid withdrawal symptoms, while regular, intended use does not (as naloxone is minimally bioa...

how long after taking suboxone can you take norco

Ok I have been givin norco 7.5 I have been on subs since Dec 2013 8mg a day is it safe to take them when they pull my tooth ## It will not help with your pain until you stop Suboxone for at least 48 hours, and even with that you might get limited relief. ## Steph77 is right it's a complete waste, you should probably just take an extra 4mg of sub that's what my doc told me to do and it worked call your doc and see what he says. ## Ok so it did work with the extra 4mg. I don't do pain well at all. The dentist already scares the s*** outta me so that don't help... ## Ok say if I didn't take the subs for them 48 hours how long would it have to wait to take my suboxone again? Thank u for the help by the way ## Search google for the cows scale, you have to wait until you a...

Please help found this and don't know what it is!! The pill is white round and has a arrow looking thing on one side and N8 on the other. I need to as quickly as possible please ## Hello, Lindry! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Hi-Tech Pharmacal and they list it as being an 8/2mg generic for Suboxone. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on suboxen for a while now and when i picked up my script today, they were these new generic N8's which replaced the round orange AN415's.I get them from the VA and i hope th...

How late into pregnancy is it safe to stop taking suboxone?
139 Replies RSS
I am almost 14 weeks pregnant. I want to stop taking my Suboxone completely, but have heard it can cause premature labor if stopped too far into pregnancy. My doctor also said that withdrawals can not cause miscarriage or hurt the unborn baby in any lasting ways. I have been taking 2mg of subutex (now Suboxone) for the past week. Am I okay to cease all Suboxone use, or should I wait another week or so? ## From what I am reading, using it while pregnant is not advised, because it can cause withdrawal symptoms in the baby. As to any other details, there really aren't any. It's used during pregnancy has never actually be studied. As to whether or not you should stop taking it, I am afraid I have to defer to your doctor on this one, since they do know your medical history. Following ...

How long after taking a Suboxone can you take an opiate?

I have been on 8 mg/2mg Suboxone strips for 1 year. I am having a tooth (back molar) extraction in the morning. I used my Suboxone strip this morning & the tooth extraction is at 9:30 am tomorrow. If I don't use another Suboxone strip before the extraction, would I be able to take Hydrocodone after my surgery? I don't want to get sick, but I am terrified of going through this surgery with no pain meds. Please help. ## should be 48 hrs to alow to leave your system ## So if I took a 10 mg Hydrocodone after not taking a Suboxone for 24-28 hours, will it throw me into withdrawals? That would do me in after surgery to end up in wd's. ## Sorry to say but 8 mg of Suboxone is way stronger then any hydrocodone. It would take a year for you to even feel the effects. Tolerance take...

will taking suboxone tell my doctors if my chronic pain is still there
4 Replies RSS
Was taking 6-8 Lortab's a day with Fetanyl patch every 72 hours. Doctors need to know if my spine pain is still present or if meds were just masking. So he put me on Suboxone. I take a half at a time. Three suboxones and I still have spine pain. What does this mean? ## Suboxone doesn't tend to alleviate pain as much as most other narcotics, so after taking it for awhile, you should be able to let them know if you still have the pain and how bad it is, but it will prevent you from going into withdrawals from stopping the other medications. At this point, after being on it for such a short time, you may be having rebound pain from stopping the other medications, so you'll likely need to give it a little more time, before you know for sure. The FDA classifies this medication as...

Withdrawal from opiates
11 Replies RSS
Why do you think docs prescribe Suboxone or Methadone for opiate withdrawal, make patients stay on it until they are completely addicted to it for years, then have to treat them to come off it? Why don't they treat a 5 day opiate withdrawal with a benzo to sleep, clonidine, gabapentin, trazodone for a week or two instead. It would sure help society not be addicted to Suboxone. Worst drug ever. ## Most people, even if they are addicted, can't just take a ton of medications to try and sleep through their withdrawals and be out of work for that length of time. Treatment with Suboxone or Methadone enables them to still work and be productive, while undergoing addiction treatment and, unlike Methadone, Suboxone usually enables most people to eventually become completely drug free, al...

Suboxone and Clonazepam
2 Replies RSS
I'm currently on 32 mg daily of suboxone. I also have been prescribed Clonazepam 1mg. Is it ok/safe to take 1 of the 1 mg Clonazepam with 32 mg of suboxone? I have received mixed answers so I'm hoping I can get a majority of responses that are similar. My main concern is that I will have depressed respiratory function or CNS depression. Any and all answers are welcomed. ## CNS depression is a possibility, if you are taking both of these medications, according to the FDA. However, the doesn't mean they cannot be taken together, if just means that your doctor should be sure to adjust your doses carefully, and they should be monitoring you regularly to try to avoid any potential problems. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'll answer your question first and then yo...

Suboxone: Chronic pain / taper?
Post a Reply
I was on 80mg of oxycontin 3 times a day and it was no longer helping after taking it for many, many, many years. I switched to Suboxone for my Chronic Pain Mgt. Was on 6mg films for the 1st year and always had extra, as I took them at night. I was shocked how well they worked along with Flexeril for my back, leg and feet pain. Then I was cut to 3mg film once a day. I usually take the 6mg film every other day, and still forget at times, so I may only use 11 instead of 14 in 28 days. I recently tried to cut to the equivalent of 1/3 a day, but the insomnia and anxiety were off the charts after only a few days. At my last appointment it was Student Teaching Day. I my Doctor! He explained how I am there for pain management which is why I haven't been completely we end off the medication.

can i take suboxone and morphine sulfate together
4 Replies RSS
I take suboxone 12/3 mg once a day. Can I take one 100 mg morphine sulphate with it once a day? ## Hi Rob, According to, suboxone shouldn't be taken with any opioids (i.e. morphine), since it can block its effects and potentially send you into immediate withdrawals - accompanied by a number of undesirable side effects such as increased anxiety, insomnia, nausea, difficulty breathing, sweating, cramps, etc. Having read that, it sounds to me like the wisest thing to do would probably be to contact your doctor about alternative ways to manage your pain in the event that suboxone 'or' morphine doesn't get the job done on their own. Some feedback I've read in other threads here even recommend trying methadone over suboxone; stating that it works better for their p...
