Suboxone Overview

Buprenorphine is a semisynthetic opioid derivative of thebaine. It is a mixed agonist–antagonist opioid receptor modulator that is used to treat opioid addiction in higher dosages, to control moderate acute pain in non-opioid-tolerant individuals in lower dosages and to control moderate chronic pain in even smaller doses.[3] It is available in a variety of formulations: Subutex, Suboxone, Zubsolv, Bunavail (available as buprenorphine HCl alone or buprenorphine and naloxone HCl; typicall...

Pharmacist refusing to fill my script of suboxone. What do I do???
116 Replies RSS
I wet to my doc 7 days early because of running out early. I took my new script to pharmacy and said, this is early so I won't be using insurance. My doc said you can call him if necessary. Well no one wanted to. They filled two per day for three days. On the third day I asked to fill the rest on insurance for the next day. I was one day early. When I called the next morning to have my daily two filled the pharmacy manager said no we won't be filling it for another 5 days. Go to the ER for your withdrawals but don't come here because I won't give it to you. Has this happened to anyone else???? ## If you run out of suboxone too soon- you might need to increase your dose? That way you won't have to worry about being out of it too soon. As for me- my doctor decided to m...

Sub support needed.

Taking opiates and want to stop. I have sub and plan on starting it in the morning. My last dose was around three pm and I will wake around ten am and start the sub. I'm so fearful and need help. I guess I'm looking for support from someone who knows what I can expect. ## You have to be in full withdrawal from the opiate you were taking, before you can take Suboxone. Otherwise, the Naloxone in it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction. It carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. What instructions did your doctor provide? ## Thank you for your reply Vernon, I'm aware of th...

yes there are generic Suboxone
38 Replies RSS
there is a generic Suboxone out now. they begin shipping them to pharmacies the last week of February. also, if you have any type of insurance you will automatically get the generic suboxin. The doctor has no say in whether you get the name brand or generic really. even if he writes a prescription for suboxone, the pharmacist will automatically give you the generics if you have insurance. if you don't have any insurance, you can ask the pharmacist to give you generics because they are cheaper. Plus, R and B has stopped making the name brand suboxin pills. they are only making be films now. So whenever your pharmacy runs out of the original suboxin, there will not be any more. ## @sean21, Do you happen to know by any chance who the manufacturer is or what the new generic Suboxone is ...

Looking 4 a Dr around Corbin, Ky that prescribes suboxone and nerve meds. ## You can use the search engine on the Suboxone site to find a doctor that has the waiver to treat with it. It is located at click here, you can search by zip code and their contact information will be included, so you can check to see if they are accepting new patients. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, you will likely need to see a different doctor for nerve medications. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

How long after you Stop Suboxone do you have withdrawal symptoms?
494 Replies RSS
My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat CA but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight tht she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward s/s of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days...

can i take antibiotic with suboxone

I'm on suboxone strips so can I start on a z-pak for my allergies? Does anyone have an answer it would be greatly appreciated. ## Hello, Panda bear! How are you? An antibiotic will not do anything to treat your allergies. They are only effective at treating bacterial infections. The FDA lists the typical side effects of them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. If you're suffering from allergy symptoms, you likely need an antihistamine. Has your doctor recommended anything?

I have recently moved to TN from NH and have gone to the doctor got my prescription but every pharmacy I have gone to or called all say the same thing they don't carry it or they are at there max for the about they are allowed to fill. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions I have even called surrounding states and I can't get to the clinic daily or could afford the gas to go and pay the clinic. Ty ## Hello, Kym! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. You will most likely need to physically go to the pharmacies you called, with your prescription in hand, to get an honest/accurate answer. If you call and ask them about a medication like this, they will just tell you that they don't have it, or give you some other excuse, because it is a con...

Can suboxone cause breathing problems and make anxiety problems worse?
12 Replies RSS
Hey everyone my name is Emily I am 22 years old, I take 1 8mg of suboxone a day. I'm fine during the day most of the time besides my severe anxiety. I feel a though my anxiety has taken over my life. But I take my 1 8mg pill if suboxone in the morning and at night time I always have anxiety. I have trouble breathing at the same time every night. My breathing feels very slow but I can feel my heart beating fast. I'm not sure if this is just from my anxiety or the suboxne. I'm terrified that shallow breathing is a sign of overdose or something which also starts up my anxiety even more, and I also have asthma. Could this just be my anxiety causing these breathing problems or is it possible that my suboxone is the cause? ## Hey are you taking any kind of medication for anxiety? ...

New Suboxone Laws in Tennessee...limits patients to 16mg per day???
7 Replies RSS
Hello. I am currently taking 24 mgs of suboxone film per day. This dose has worked well for me. I was taking 28mg per day but hav cut back. I live in Va but my doctor is TN. I was told at my last appointment that they had to cut me back to 16mgs per day b/c of some new TN law that forbids the doctors to write more than that. Is this true? How can they do that? It seems like it would be not only a violation of federal law but also a human rights issue. I would understand a reasonable limit but even the suboxone website says this is a reasonable dose. Please help me, I'm scared to death, freaking out & can't find any doctor in VA that is taking new patients. I've searched the web for days about this but can't find any answers. Thank you so much. ## Put, Tennessee State...
