Suboxone Overview

Buprenorphine is a semisynthetic opioid derivative of thebaine. It is a mixed agonist–antagonist opioid receptor modulator that is used to treat opioid addiction in higher dosages, to control moderate acute pain in non-opioid-tolerant individuals in lower dosages and to control moderate chronic pain in even smaller doses.[3] It is available in a variety of formulations: Subutex, Suboxone, Zubsolv, Bunavail (available as buprenorphine HCl alone or buprenorphine and naloxone HCl; typicall...

How to get off Suboxone successfully - Step by step
190 Replies RSS
If you are struggling with getting off Suboxone successfully, you may want to take the time to read this. I have read a ton of hype about Suboxone being impossible to get off. How the withdrawal symptoms carry on for days, even months. Below, I would like to encourage you and let you know that it can be done. I AM LIVING PROOF YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS FEAT!!! I have been free of Suboxone and all other drugs and alcohol for 3 months and I have never felt better in my life!!! THE WAY THAT SUCCESS HAPPENED FOR ME AND CAN HAPPEN FOR YOU: For months I read Suboxone blog sites in the effort to gather some element of hope that would encourage me to make the “jump” to get off my final 1/8 tab (1mg) of Suboxone. At the point I started reading these blog sites, I had come down from 2.5...

New Suboxone by Roxane 54 375 8mg/2mg
1 Reply RSS
I have had some cravings lately so I took a couple buprenophine 54 375 pills. I SWALLOWED them and then realized they were the 8mg/2mg and also that i swallowed them instead of under my tongue. I have been f***ed up for 3 days. Bad headaches and no appetite. I swallowed them because i forgot how to take them and either way, it was way too much and I would say be careful. I will not do that again. These things are dangerous. ## When taken under the tongue, the bupe kicks the naloxones ass and it has no effect. When swallowed, the bupe has poor bioavaillabilty 5-10% max. Naloxone is absorbed by the stomach rather well, so it looks like in your case the naloxone beat the bupe. It doesn't happen very often. I feel for you. It sucks. I hate naloxone. Which is why I'm on Subutex. I ne...

Patient Assistance - HereToHelpProgram - Prescription Paper

In case no one knows about it there is a suboxone patient assistance program that will give you free meds (up to 24mg/day). It's not real public - but you can find info at heretohelpprogram.com Docs who are qualified to script subs can have up to three patients on it at any one time, thing is they don't make it easy. you got to get your doctor's fax line and have the company fax the papers directly to your docs office and if he has a cool secretary - have her make an extra set for the doc to have on hand so he doesn't have to jump through hoops to help hid patients and have her make a copy or two for you so that you can give them to your friends who are struggling and the can take them to their docs in person - no fax number needed. There's an income requirement - bu...

how long after taking suboxone can u take methadone
5 Replies RSS
I tried eating a sub ozone 2 days after my last dose of methadone but am now in withdraw can I take methadone now to bring me out ## @JD To my knowledge there shouldn't be a problem with taking methadone "after" suboxone. Apparently if it's the other way around (suboxone "after" methadone), only then would you have to wait it out for several days in order to avoid being put into immediate withdrawals. I've also seen comments from other patients going from suboxone to methadone within a 24 hour period who said that they were completely fine and didn't experience any problems with sickness or withdrawal. But if you have personal experience going through this process that may be any different from what I've witnessed, please do post your feedback on the ...

8 Replies RSS
I took a 1/4 of a suboxone a friend had given me around 6:00 pm today. How long do I have to wait until I can take a Percocet for pain and not get it and have it work? ## 1/4 of a suboxone isn't a very detailed description how many MG's was the strip?(i know this is an old comment but whatever) ## I have to get through a drug panel tomorrow. I am on suboxene maintenance but smoked a Lil pot and didn't want the pot to show. I bought some u pass and was wondering if I should put a little bit of suboxene n there will it show that I've been taking my suboxene. I need to know this today please!!!!! ## I know this topic is a few weeks old, but I do agree with josh (post #1) in that the answer to the original thread question would largely depend on how many milligrams of Suboxo...

How late into pregnancy is it safe to stop taking suboxone?
63 Replies RSS
I am almost 14 weeks pregnant. I want to stop taking my Suboxone completely, but have heard it can cause premature labor if stopped too far into pregnancy. My doctor also said that withdrawals can not cause miscarriage or hurt the unborn baby in any lasting ways. I have been taking 2mg of subutex (now Suboxone) for the past week. Am I okay to cease all Suboxone use, or should I wait another week or so? ## From what I am reading, using it while pregnant is not advised, because it can cause withdrawal symptoms in the baby. As to any other details, there really aren't any. It's used during pregnancy has never actually be studied. As to whether or not you should stop taking it, I am afraid I have to defer to your doctor on this one, since they do know your medical history. Following ...

I had been on Suboxone for almost 8 years . In my opinion it is a wonder drug compaired to all the opiates that the pain clinics are all too willling to prescribe .I have been out of my Suboxone for a week & a half . I feel like I am dying . I can not sleep . I have a 5 month old new baby boy. I can hardly pick him up due to the pain that I am in. I hurt all over . i have been so nauseated. My doctor who 's visits were cash bases only , however medicaid would take care of the actual prescription of 60 ,8 mg. At one time I WAS PRESCRIBED 4 , 8 MG SUBS A DAY . i WOULD KILL JUST TO HAVE A QUARTER RIGHT NOW TO FEEL LIKE NORMAL AGAIN . My doctor decided that he no longer wants to deal with any one with medicaid due to the fact that his office does not "LIKE TO HANDLE PRIOR AUTHUO...

how long after taking a suboxone can you use opiate
29 Replies RSS
I have been on 8 mg/2mg Suboxone strips for 1 year. I am having a tooth (back molar) extraction in the morning. I used my Suboxone strip this morning & the tooth extraction is at 9:30 am tomorrow. If I don't use another Suboxone strip before the extraction, would I be able to use Hydrocodone after my surgery? I don't want to get sick, but I am terrified of going through this surgery with no pain meds. Please help. ## should be 48 hrs to alow to leave your system ## So if I took a 10 mg Hydrocodone after not taking a Suboxone for 24-28 hours, will it throw me into withdrawals? That would do me in after surgery to end up in wd's. ## Sorry to say but 8 mg of Suboxone is way stronger then any hydrocodone. It would take a year for you to even feel the effects. Tolerance takes...

I injured my back in 2003 and then bad car wreck in 2005 was on pain pills but seen to abuse then after 3yrs. Got on suboxon it works great but my doctor that work it for pain management retired so 7 had to go to a suboxone clinic and they want to keep taking me down in my dose when i am maintaining just fine with pain. ## Hello, Julie! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. Yes, it is normal for the Suboxone doctor to want to taper you down, after a period of time, because that is what they are supposed to do, since they treat addiction, not pain. It is in the FDA guidelines for such treatment. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and con...
