THIS IS FOR KK. FIRST OF ALL,SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOM. BUT I DON'T THINK IT REALLY MATTERS THAT HER DRUG OF CHOICE WAS DILAUDED.SHE WAS AN ADDICT AND MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE USED WHATEVER SHE COULD GET HER HANDS ON. I USE FENTANYL PATCHES AND 2MG. OF DILAUDED B/C I HAVE 7 ILLNESSES/DISEASES AND CRONIC PAIN.I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE W/THE IMPROPER USE OF SAID MEDS. B/C THE MEDS. ARE NOT THE PROBLEM,ITS THE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T OR WON'T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PLAYING BOTH SIDES HERE:MAD THAT DRUG DEPENDENCY TOOK YOUR MOMMA AND NOW MAD THAT THERE ARE REGULATIONS IN PLACE TO TRY TO PREVENT WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR MOM FROM HAPPENING TO YOUR HUSBAND??? SORRY BUT I JUST DON'T GET IT OR YOU.PERHAPS YOU WOULD FIND IT BENEFICIAL SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN ADDICTION PSYCHIATRY? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU&YOUR HUSBAND.

You are addicted to your medication. You state and request a dose you can use to feel euphoria and this is not how CPP's feel all of the time with the very few acceptions of abuse. That is a lot to snort (if you are not getting the high you so desperately want, why keep using your meds)? If they relieve your pain than, other than the amount and methods I think you should be grateful they still work for you. You keep hitting this hard continuously and you really do need to full relief that you must lie to your doctor about b/c you are scared he'll cut an already very generous scripting so far. We ALWAYS try and warn you, there are worse things than dying so if I were you I would talk to your doctor about getting your tolerance down b/c may God help you if you end up like me, terminal and hospice with what I can only pray will do the job I am hoping for when the time comes. You are focussed on today, which is a sign of seeking, focus on reducing your dependency for pain you never planned for, unfortunately if you were injured in a car accident or other job, it doesn't reduce your risk for serious, possibly life ending illnesses and there are levels that they will not write for unless you have Obama's personal policy - not the crap one he wants for the rest of us, lol!

It's true, unless you've done it yourself don't knock it. I'm not saying takie it till you die but I've been taking 4 mg times 3 at a time of dilaudid intranasally. I don't take them recreationally, have two shattered calcaneus bones and 3 4mg dilaudid helps take the edge off my pain. So to each his or her own. If your worried about it don't do it.

Hi Breeia (Post #145) I hope you get an automatic message to read this. Went to the oncologist this past week, the visits are slowing down, the treatments for now are on hold as I suffered serious side effects and they only killed me so I decided, I'll die from the disease but not the medicine, lol! I noticed that there was a new nurse there but I just thought it was b/c of the hour, near lunch and it's a large practice so I don't know all of the other doc's nurses but I asked another patient I know and that nurse is NO LONGER THERE. I was told by many of the other patients that she was caught writing triplicates for herself and putting other patients names on them and it eventually caught up with her. Apparently a pharmacist caught on, she went to pick up a man's script in her uniform - not the brightest huh! It's actually very sad, turns out my doctor is being audited and he may lose his CII script privileges b/c he is supposed to keep better tabs on these particular RX pads. I didn't realize but they actually pay per CII RX so the fees didn't add up to the total count of the practice and they were smart enough to check that and little by little they narrowed it down to her. It's really sad, I've trusted her for almost 10 years and this happens but you were so right. Now she is facing jail time, will probably choose rehab over that and I hope it works for her but she lost her livelihood over drugs so for those of you that don't think it can happen to you, I doubt she thought it could happen to her either. It's serious business. The new nurse is okay, don't know all that well and you can tell she does not go out of her way to get to know or help anybody, maybe she can't handle it or that's just her personality. Scary but I thought you'd like to hear the update. You were SO sweet to care so much and you were right so great instincts. Take care Breeia.

If miss brainiac is talking to me about addiction you are wrong. Unfortunately for people that actually need it, doctor shoppers out to get high is screwing it up for people in serious pain. So without knowing my situation which is tragic, you have no business telling me I'm addicted ok cause honestly I would like to not take pain medication but don't want to be bed bound in constant pain. Maybe you need both your heel bones shattered into pieces,be in a wheelchair for 8 months,get told you won't walk again and defy the odds and see how you feel then. Otherwise keep your mouth shut cause your probably addicted and want to get it off your chest.

These drugs need to be taken as perscribed, so if you want to abuse them so be it, but dont tell others that it's ok u hypocrite.

I started abusing dilaudid at the beggining of the year a few months ago I got a wicked ear infection,That went away in a couple of weeks.Last month I got another infection in the same ear only this time it came with alot wax build up which I had flushed and after that the doc told me that I had a ruptured ear drum But now i'm having problems with heavy clear watery drainage. Could this be caused by abusing dilaudid?

i just got the dilaudid over 1 week ago and i tried 8mg orally, waited 1 hour, then I took 2 intranasally and finally the pain went away. overall very happy with them as better than percocet, current oxycontin, and bs morphine unless 100mg or more and is very expensive) of course i just prefer the 30mg roxies but thats not happening anymore so alot of people are switching to dilaudid. and not bad i must say having taken 40mg dilaudid, 40mg, oxycodone ir, 20mg valium and feel very good today and overall pleased. {edited for safety}

i have a tolerance to oxycontin and other opiates. but never had dilaudid till 3 days ago and it works well for me. there not quite the same as roxies. not as fast but different. pain relief all day and like i said creeps on you. THEY'RE MAKING NEW DRUG ADDICTS...IN 10 YEARS ALL THE PATIENTS GETTING SWITCHED OFF OXYCODONE FOR DILAUDID THERE WILL BE MANY OD'S AS PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO CONVERT THESE DILAUDID and just be careful peeps. there taking us back to the 80's with dilaudid (drugstore cowboy w/ matt dillion) then came oxies...now back to dilaudid. what a circle..for 12 yrs my pain was controlled with oxycodone now these dilaudid work but are completely different but better than anything except oxycodone! why cant we legit patients who know what works on us to have the oxycodone? {edited for safety}

Abusing DILAUDID increases the effect by as much as 60%, where swallowing them i feel almost nothing nor any pain relief but if i take 3 8mg dilaudid intranasally im good all day and take 1 more before bed. {edited for safety}

Diacetylmorphine is none other than Heroin. If you are going to take opioids you might be doing your self a favor by knowing what you are taking? Dilaudid is by chemical name dihydromorphinone, a synthetic opioid.

its called hydromorphone (generic for dilaudid) at least so says the pharmacy paper im reading right in front of me and the doctor who wrote it and the internet webmd. Maybe you should get your facts straight.

I'm so sorry ky. I have had my meds stolen from me on a number of occasions. It's horrible. Especially when it's your spouse that put you in that position. My ex used to steal & sell mine routinely. He stole some, not all. I've always made a point of taking just a little less than I'm prescribed, then taking the few left over every month & stashing them somewhere as a "just in case" method, because of my own experiences. I never keep many, but I feel a lot better having a couple of weeks worth on hand for emergencies. You should press charges on the creep. If you've been seeing your dr for a while & have a good reputation with him, I'm betting he would write you some replacement meds. I'm also betting though, that this isn't the first time you've found yourself in this position. If so, your dr isn't going to stretch his neck out but so far for you, particularly if you're not doing anything about it & this is happening often. Ditch him ky. You deserve better.Best of luck to you!

my x wife used to steal my 80mg oxycontin from me about every freakin day. i bought a nice safe and she freaked out and i had to play doctor to wean her off. be careful cause when its someone you love you will do anything for them and then before you know it your enabling an addict. i wish looking back i would have stopped her way before i did. just another life lesson. i will always have a safe and lock my meds from now on and bolt to the floor. these drugs make people desperate

Hi Breeia, You are SOOOOO sweet to think of me. I can already tell you are of good integrity b/c that just doesn't happen on these boards, at least not for "good or legal" activity! It would be nice to had a friend to talk to, my hubby gets too sad so I don't talk about my pain or fears or anything that will affect him. We have been married close to 30 years and we are still very much in love and like so I know I am a very lucky lady but I don't think he can deal with what is coming our way so it's nice to have a place to go and receive support. Whether or not we get in touch with each other, your thoughts mean the world to me <3

I have a high tolerance and it takes me 3-4 8mg to achieve pain free. I wouldn't recommend doing more than 1 8mg tops and less unless you have done it before. BE SAFE AND SMART.
