Abusing DILAUDID increases the effect by as much as 60%, where swallowing them i feel almost nothing nor any pain relief but if i take 3 8mg dilaudid intranasally im good all day and take 1 more before bed. {edited for safety}

i have a tolerance to oxycontin and other opiates. but never had dilaudid till 3 days ago and it works well for me. there not quite the same as roxies. not as fast but different. pain relief all day and like i said creeps on you. THEY'RE MAKING NEW DRUG ADDICTS...IN 10 YEARS ALL THE PATIENTS GETTING SWITCHED OFF OXYCODONE FOR DILAUDID THERE WILL BE MANY OD'S AS PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO CONVERT THESE DILAUDID and just be careful peeps. there taking us back to the 80's with dilaudid (drugstore cowboy w/ matt dillion) then came oxies...now back to dilaudid. what a circle..for 12 yrs my pain was controlled with oxycodone now these dilaudid work but are completely different but better than anything except oxycodone! why cant we legit patients who know what works on us to have the oxycodone? {edited for safety}

i just got the dilaudid over 1 week ago and i tried 8mg orally, waited 1 hour, then I took 2 intranasally and finally the pain went away. overall very happy with them as better than percocet, current oxycontin, and bs morphine unless 100mg or more and is very expensive) of course i just prefer the 30mg roxies but thats not happening anymore so alot of people are switching to dilaudid. and not bad i must say having taken 40mg dilaudid, 40mg, oxycodone ir, 20mg valium and feel very good today and overall pleased. {edited for safety}

I started abusing dilaudid at the beggining of the year a few months ago I got a wicked ear infection,That went away in a couple of weeks.Last month I got another infection in the same ear only this time it came with alot wax build up which I had flushed and after that the doc told me that I had a ruptured ear drum But now i'm having problems with heavy clear watery drainage. Could this be caused by abusing dilaudid?

These drugs need to be taken as perscribed, so if you want to abuse them so be it, but dont tell others that it's ok u hypocrite.

If miss brainiac is talking to me about addiction you are wrong. Unfortunately for people that actually need it, doctor shoppers out to get high is screwing it up for people in serious pain. So without knowing my situation which is tragic, you have no business telling me I'm addicted ok cause honestly I would like to not take pain medication but don't want to be bed bound in constant pain. Maybe you need both your heel bones shattered into pieces,be in a wheelchair for 8 months,get told you won't walk again and defy the odds and see how you feel then. Otherwise keep your mouth shut cause your probably addicted and want to get it off your chest.

Hi Breeia (Post #145) I hope you get an automatic message to read this. Went to the oncologist this past week, the visits are slowing down, the treatments for now are on hold as I suffered serious side effects and they only killed me so I decided, I'll die from the disease but not the medicine, lol! I noticed that there was a new nurse there but I just thought it was b/c of the hour, near lunch and it's a large practice so I don't know all of the other doc's nurses but I asked another patient I know and that nurse is NO LONGER THERE. I was told by many of the other patients that she was caught writing triplicates for herself and putting other patients names on them and it eventually caught up with her. Apparently a pharmacist caught on, she went to pick up a man's script in her uniform - not the brightest huh! It's actually very sad, turns out my doctor is being audited and he may lose his CII script privileges b/c he is supposed to keep better tabs on these particular RX pads. I didn't realize but they actually pay per CII RX so the fees didn't add up to the total count of the practice and they were smart enough to check that and little by little they narrowed it down to her. It's really sad, I've trusted her for almost 10 years and this happens but you were so right. Now she is facing jail time, will probably choose rehab over that and I hope it works for her but she lost her livelihood over drugs so for those of you that don't think it can happen to you, I doubt she thought it could happen to her either. It's serious business. The new nurse is okay, don't know all that well and you can tell she does not go out of her way to get to know or help anybody, maybe she can't handle it or that's just her personality. Scary but I thought you'd like to hear the update. You were SO sweet to care so much and you were right so great instincts. Take care Breeia.

It's true, unless you've done it yourself don't knock it. I'm not saying takie it till you die but I've been taking 4 mg times 3 at a time of dilaudid intranasally. I don't take them recreationally, have two shattered calcaneus bones and 3 4mg dilaudid helps take the edge off my pain. So to each his or her own. If your worried about it don't do it.

You are addicted to your medication. You state and request a dose you can use to feel euphoria and this is not how CPP's feel all of the time with the very few acceptions of abuse. That is a lot to snort (if you are not getting the high you so desperately want, why keep using your meds)? If they relieve your pain than, other than the amount and methods I think you should be grateful they still work for you. You keep hitting this hard continuously and you really do need to full relief that you must lie to your doctor about b/c you are scared he'll cut an already very generous scripting so far. We ALWAYS try and warn you, there are worse things than dying so if I were you I would talk to your doctor about getting your tolerance down b/c may God help you if you end up like me, terminal and hospice with what I can only pray will do the job I am hoping for when the time comes. You are focussed on today, which is a sign of seeking, focus on reducing your dependency for pain you never planned for, unfortunately if you were injured in a car accident or other job, it doesn't reduce your risk for serious, possibly life ending illnesses and there are levels that they will not write for unless you have Obama's personal policy - not the crap one he wants for the rest of us, lol!

THIS IS FOR KK. FIRST OF ALL,SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOM. BUT I DON'T THINK IT REALLY MATTERS THAT HER DRUG OF CHOICE WAS DILAUDED.SHE WAS AN ADDICT AND MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE USED WHATEVER SHE COULD GET HER HANDS ON. I USE FENTANYL PATCHES AND 2MG. OF DILAUDED B/C I HAVE 7 ILLNESSES/DISEASES AND CRONIC PAIN.I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE W/THE IMPROPER USE OF SAID MEDS. B/C THE MEDS. ARE NOT THE PROBLEM,ITS THE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T OR WON'T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PLAYING BOTH SIDES HERE:MAD THAT DRUG DEPENDENCY TOOK YOUR MOMMA AND NOW MAD THAT THERE ARE REGULATIONS IN PLACE TO TRY TO PREVENT WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR MOM FROM HAPPENING TO YOUR HUSBAND??? SORRY BUT I JUST DON'T GET IT OR YOU.PERHAPS YOU WOULD FIND IT BENEFICIAL SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN ADDICTION PSYCHIATRY? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU&YOUR HUSBAND.

I already did say something to my doctor, I was crying and explaining it did not feel right and I have to feel safe their of all places, his office should be it. He was very sweet, all lot of there there's but I feel like he knows it's going on and allows it where he doesn't know what else to do or even worse, a patient that follows the rules? Just got a sense that they were not the slightest bit concerned, made sure I know THEY were not concerned and neither should I be - the message is clear, but out! I'm keeping my mouth shut and watching for now. I just got the feeling that he knew and let's say h e found a way to make me feel very uncomfortable and I tried to act a naive as possible, seemed okay later so I'll see but I now want to find a doctor that will help me through these type issues and addiction should be something addressed no matter the time. Thanks for everyone's input.

Could it be the lorazepam thats keeping me down so i don't get relief,i would think the pam would help but it doesn't, im worried about overdosing on the Dilaudid. {edited for safety}

Thanks for your response. First I don't think I was very clear on my medications, sorry about that. I am prescribed oral Dilaudid, IR Morphine and Xanax. I have had to be hospitalized a lot this year and in the hospital they give me a constant Dilaudid drip and injections if it's not enough and what I was trying to say was the pill is SO much weaker than the IV drug, I did tell my doctor that I wasn't getting enough relief and on top of that, it wasn't lasting very long. Plus, just from what I've heard from others in my support group, they think I should be on something stronger and long-acting and not having to take all of these shorter acting meds around the clock. I am at the point in my illness in that I hurt 24/7, it's in my bones and my life at times revolves around not letting my pain get out of control. I took Percocets about 2 years ago as part of my pain regimen and I could not tolerate it, it made my anxiety feel much worse, I don't know why but I know it did. The doctors just say everybody reacts differently to different medications. I have not tried Oxycontin, I have made a point to stay away from this drug because I have personally see people get addicted pretty much right away and it made me nervous. People always told me to stay away from it, that I would regret it, etc. But the truth of the matter is I am terminal so I have to rethink I suppose, is this medicine better on pain that Dilaudid? I don't know, the other thing is I have virtually no RX insurance so everything they want to try me on, I can't afford, pretty sad isn't it. The doctor did raise my Dilaudid dose and increased the number of times I can take it as well and I think it is helping much more. As far as what the nurse did, I asked one of my best friends who is a nurse and she reacted the way you did, she told me I HAVE to report her and now I understand the seriousness of what she did. She said it's one thing to suggest something subtly but what and how she did it speaks to a lot of bad things. My friend asked me, "don't you wonder how she knew what to do with your medication"? Mind you this was not my pain doctor nurse but my Oncologist's nurse, I just want to be clear and this will be very hard for me to do as she has seen me through a lot and has been very supportive so I feel very conflicted. I don't know how I am going to sleep with having to deal with this tomorrow. I might very well cost this nurse her job, it just feels terrible but at the same time I am just starting to understand that she was teaching me something very dangerous and that is not at all medically appropriate use of this strong painkiller. I hope you read this tonight and respond again because I would like your opinion again, my friend says I need to tell the doctor himself AND know the medications I am on, what do you think would be good to try. I am pretty desperate for relief. Again remember my PM doctor did increase my dose of Dilaudid and shortened the intervals that I needed to wait to take it and asked me to give it 5 days and to stay on top of my pain, i.e., take it whether or not I hurt. They say when it gets much worse, they will make home care available to me and my husband will be able to give my the IV medications into my PICC line. I don't want to do this now b/c I will be out of it and I just don't feel like I'm there yet. I can manage the pain right now and I am still productive. Thanks again for your advice, seems like this nurse did something really wrong - my nurse friend said that doing the medication that way could actually kill me, that it's very dangerous. Anyway, I hope you write again soon and thank you for your prayers, I could use them. You take care of yourself too. God Blessl

BRYNN,1ST. LET ME SAY HOW SORRY IAM FOR YOUR PAIN. I'M NOT TERMINAL BUT HAVE BEEN SICK SINCE AGE 8,SO THATS OVER 40YRS. I WOULD LIKE TO HELP BUT I'M A BIT CONFUSSED,CUZ YOU STARTED OUT SAYING THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS FOR YOU IS IV DILAUDID BUT END UP SAYING YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ON IT? MAYBE SOMEONE CAN HELP IF YOU JUST EXPLAIN A LITTLE BETTER,OR LIKE WHY YOU HAVE SUCH AN ADVERSION TO OXY(WHATEVER KIND YOU DIDN'T SAY)B/C YOU CLAIM THATS WHAT DRS. SAY WORKS BEST FOR YOUR CONDITION? I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT NURSE WOULD DO WHAT THAT ONE DID! HONESTLY,SHE IS NOTHING MORE THAN AN UNCONSCIONABLE ADDICT OR ELSE SHE WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW LET ALONE SHOW A PT. HOW TO DO THAT! REALLY,HON SHE'S NOT TRYING TO HELP YOU&I WOULD TURN HER IN! I MEAN WHATS NEXT SHOWING A 15YR. OLD PT. THE SAME THING?YOU OK W/THAT? B/C IT WILL HAPPEN,MAYBE NOT THIS WEEK OR THIS MONTH BUT EVENTUALLY SHE WILL B/C SHE HAS NO CONSCIENCE NOT UNLIKE MANY ADDICTS. NOW,WHAT MIGHT HELP YOU (MAYBE YOU USE IT ALREADY B/C I DON'T KNOW)BUT IS SOMETHING TO HELP YOU RELAX SO THE MEDS. CAN WORK BETTER. I USE VALIUM AT TIMES,LIKE BETWEEN DOSAGES OF PAIN MEDS. OR TO HELP ME SLEEP THREW THE NIGHT. ALSO WHEN I WENT TO A TOP PAIN MGT. CENTER IN VT. THEY SAID TO TRY A "PAIN MED. VACATION" SOUNDS WEIRD I KNOW BUT ALL IT MEANS IS TO TRY DIFFERENT PAIN MEDS.(THAT HAVE WORKED FOR YOU BEFORE)AND SWITCH THEM EVERY COUPLE MONTHS,HAT WAY THEY STAY MORE EFFECTIVE. HOPE THIS HELPS! TAKE CARE........YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS
