Oxycodone Shortage Scam (Top voted first)

Updated

Guys, i hate to tell you this but its all bulls***>>> after 3 weeks trying to fill my Oxy 30, 140, i finally got to speak to my Pharm Manager who Ive used for 12 years. He told me straight up, that all the calls and people have hurt their regular business, so they decided to stop ordering Oxy in any amout to avoid the crap I was floored as all of a sudden he filled my script on the spot not 30 secs before they were all telling me they didnt have any. He told me last that would be the last one filled as hes not ordering anymore. I discussed with him about just oredering for me, as I'm legit and trying to follow the rules by using only one doctor and one pharmacy. He said he"ll consider it just for me. What a bunch S***!!! This from a guy Ive known for 12 years. It is a Walgreens, This is a conspiricy to avoid all of the drug seekers at our expense. They should go back to getting it off the street and leave us alone. How many more of us have to suffer? Im dag gone tired of being looked at as a druggy as I limp up to the counter. I spent 30 years as a cop on the job in New York, shot in the leg and arm for the citizens I swore to protect and now to be treated like the guys I put in the slammer? Im sure there are plenty of us on the blog. What the hell? Anybody know a good attorney? I guess I should start taking Morphine or Herion and sleep all day since I cant get the medication that works and this is America? Sound off you guys its the only way were going to be heard. God Bless you.

And how exactly do you know what they need? People like you really tick me off! My husband is prescribed 150 roxicodone a month, he has 3 budging discs, a torn and irreparable Trapezious muscle, has had to have his ACL repaired in both knees, the second landed him in worse condition than before the surgery, he takes his meds as prescribed and works a minimum of 45 hours a week as a diesel mechanic. Maybe you should walk in someone else's shoes before you accuse people of being an addict

Gizmo, Sorry for your pain. I am buying what you say. The fact is as you well know, as soon as you need Oxy long term, we legit. pain medication users do become addicted. However we are not recreational users. We know this is the risk we must take and eventual fact of our lives. There is no choice for us.
I am embarassed for Hitman's preaching and dumb comments. And since he probably can't say the following words for himself, I will.
I apologize for his arrogance and ignorance.
You're welcome Hitman, anytime. Next time educate youself and I hope you are never in such a place of pain.

Thanks! It just makes me so mad when people automatically assume that those on pain meds are junkies, of course ANYONE who is prescribed medication is going to eventually become dependent upon it BUT that is not something they chose or wanted, for some there is no other option other than getting on disability, contribute nothing to society and have no quality of life, not a hard decision, take the meds and function sounds a whole lot better to me than wasting away in pain

Thank you!!! For speaking up for all chronic pain sufferers! I'm tired of people trying to identify with what a chronic pain sufferer needs. They have no Ida and lord willing, they never will....

DEB: I agree with you 100%. Those of us who are TRULY in Chronic Pain 24/7 will most likely at some point in time be prescribed a pain med that has a narcotic in it for pain relief. And yes, over time (in the matter of a few weeks, really) our bodies become used to the medication. Therefore we become dependent on it. Dependency and Addiction are two very different things in my opinion. If one is prescribed a narcotic pain medication and they are able to take it as prescribed, never running out before they are supposed to and are able to wait until a scheduled follow-up appt., then yes, they are most likely a candidate for dependency. However, if someone gets a prescription for narcotic pain medications and are either taking more than prescribed, selling their meds for profit, etc. then most likely this person would be an addict. It's a very fine line we walk on and I take great care not to run out of my meds before I am supposed to. I also, as a safety precaution, always use the same pharmacist and only see the one doctor for my meds. I do this to take care of myself as best I can because "ain't nobody gonna do it for ya!"
SCOTT: I have tried Tramadol and I had an allergic reaction to it. In fact, you name, I've probably had it at some point or another. Having been hit head-on by a drunk driver and nearly dying at the scene is definitely a REAL LIFE CHANGER!

Do not be so quick. I was bedridden and in and out of pain clinics from age 20 when I was hit by a drunk driver and age 35--when someone gave me a lot more oxy than that. Now, I am a 63 year old college professor, about to retire, on a high dose of oxy tbut a dose that has not changed for 28 years, Oxycodone gave me my life back. As far as the doctor who had the compassion to believe me that the pain was that continual and that BAD, she remains my H. I have had no problems from almost 30 years of high oxy consumption for medical purposes. I am a contributing member of society with a good marriage and happy kids. Call me a junkie if you get off on the feeling of moral superiority that obviously gives you.

Hi Gizmo and other fellow pain patients. I've been lurking for months and decided to finally join the fray. You are exactly right, my pharmacist told me the same thing. They are tired of their drivers being harrassed, people stalking them in the parking lots so they are no longer ordering. However in the midst of all this we now have the DEA probe from earlier in May downstate in Florida. I have the link posted in another part of the forums. Well guess what? As of this week, the seller for Walgreens distribution center down in Jupiter has had their license revoked so now Walgreens cannot even get the meds if they wanted to. I have drove all over the city of Jacksonville for the past week and have gone into every drug store I see. As of today, May 31,2012 noone has the 30 mgs Roxys period. Of course there supposed solution is to have your doctor prescribe something else. Well as you all know that's a crock of crap BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARRY ANY OF THAT STUFF EITHER!!!! So I guess when people start dying from not being able to get the proper meds or other drastic things start happening, God forbid, maybe something will be done about it..

Oh and on a further note, the Mom and Pop pharms that are legit and take insurance and help their customers are now limited to a certain amount of med's each month. The other ones that are getting them daily off the back of someones truck are charging anywhere from 9-11 dollars a pill, will not take insurance or even a discount cards. Isn't there something that can be done about this? Don't we as American's have any rights left to anything? Just saying...

Wow joeymotz, exactly as I said, nothing has ever happened to you that hurts daily. Not kidney stones either, those do suck but they do go away. Also I never said I was unable to work, I also never said what meds I get nothing. I also never said what was wrong with me, shall I for you. Should I tell you how every month I get poked and prodded with needles also. Did I tell you o have been I'm sales for 12 years selling timeshare, home loans, real estate and started my own business online so I am my own boss and make really good money since I learned the game. I could go get a job, but why when I male more than most do from my house.

Ok so my five page mri includes four disc bulged in my neck, two with pinched nerves so I have a constant headache that we can't get to go away for going on 7 years now. From t6-t12 I have degenerative disc disease at 30, a mild case but it doesn't flare up much fortunately. And my lower back, I was hit by a dodge ram two years ago that messed it up badly. So from l1-l3 moderate disc buhes with austioaurthritis, and the really fun ones l3-l4 moderate disc bulge with right foramina stenosis(pinched nerve that runs down my leg) so my leg goes numb, I sometimes take a few steps and leg goes bye bye and I fall. And the worst, l4-l5 moderate disc bulge with moderate central canal stenosis(spinal cord is compressed pretty good) I also have this at l5-s1, not only that but at l4l5 I have right foramina stenosis again and at l4-s1 it is left foramina stenosis. So both legs are affected. I slept maybe three hours a night for over a year until my meds got right, spent money on a tempur pedic bed, trigger point injections, Soma, gabapentin(nerve pill that works that most pain docs for cash don't prescribe) 60 oxycodone 30mg/ month that I break in half and have many extra a month, and 60 oxycontin 60mg per month. Also I have gone cold turkey many many times over the years, some by choice and others not. I will tell you of you have something that is really wrong with you, not just a slight disc bulge it does interfere with your life unless you do something about it. Two years of physical therapy, massages, traction devices, shots, and no narcotic meds and things got worse for me, this doesn't always happen. Also people react differently to every treatment or medicine so not all of tour suggestions will work for people. I know someone personally that has abused suboxone for three years, it does the same thing as a roxy so if you don't know don't open your mouth. I do know a few people who get four times the amount of meds that I do for one disc bulge, depends on if you go to a cash only doc or one like mine that tales all insurance and doesn't have people wigging out for meds in the waiting room. Of course the cash places will write you what you want, not my doc. I know going to the doc, getting my mess and treatment has improved my quality of life and allows me to finally sleep more than 3 hours a night. So again you are one of those people who puts everyone in the same category because you don't know any better.

You are sure to piss people off when telling them what they need without walking a day in everyones shoes. You're probably right that people are better off without this drug or any addicting drug for that matter....I can't think of anyone that would WANT to go through life being judged by someone like yourself, no matter if what you say is the truth. Yes the drug is habit forming, but so is the pursuit to want to free the body of pain. I would much rather be able to get off the drug and enjoy the little things in life such as: twisting and turning, enjoying sex in more positions that one or two, being able to wear a back pack while hiking, or even hiking at all, not to mention sitting for more than two hours. Nobody wants to have to rely on a pill to have some sort of normalcy returned to their life. Nobody wants to be labeled a drug addict as their body becomes physically and psychologically dependent on an opiate. I guess I'd rather be labeled a drug addict and be able to enjoy what life has to offer than to be drug free and be bed ridden or riddled with depression.

There are more people in severe pain in Florida because this is where a lot of war veterans live and older folks retire here.

It appears to me that there are some people who use this website as a "SCREAMING" Board rather than answer questions, offer advice or just let someone know that somebody else is going thru similar issues and care very much. For those who truly need to know someone cares, I do! As for those who feel that screaming their guts out because they are probably in withdrawals... I pity you.

You obviously do not have major pain issues. I would like to see you with Cancer and be able to handle the pain. I was in the hospital for 6 months taking more than he was via IV and it still wasnt enough to stop the pain so you can talk all the crap you want, there is a legitimate reason for these pain meds. You work for the government

Joey, you crack me up! You are one of those people that thinks you know everyone's case, you don't. My two meds i take work good, they NEVER took all pain away, but before them i couldn't get out of bed few times a month and missed work! Now i have missed maybe two days in ten years and not because of anything like it, just kids and life. So ,Things are good some of us are good, hard working people in higher jobs than you. Have a beautiful day. Ms. Shannon

Joey M.

According to you, nobody should be on a narcotic pain reliever for 8 years. Yet, in your original post you claim your own boss has a clientele of regulars who have been getting narcotics for 5 years "plus". Considering a couple years won't make that big a difference once titration is established (and after several years of use)...I wonder if you consider yourself to be part of the problem?

It's ironic that you object to long-term use, yet that is whose Rxs you fill, while you deny new or potential short-term customers access to the medication, which you'd prefer. You guys are no better than the pill-mill doctors who helped create this problem. Correction...you're worse since for years you profitted off the sale of a drug you now say shouldn't have been prescribed in such fashion. And instead of working with the Dr's to help taper your customers off this drug, in most cases, you've cut them off cold turkey. Time to hop off that high horse.

I take offense to this comment! I worked 2 full time jobs when I started having lower back and knee problems. I had 2 surgeries on my knee simply because I didn't want to quit working and go on disability and contribute nothing to society as you so rudely say! Unfortunately, there was nothing any doctor could do for me and my own long term disability from job #1 made me and got me my social security. Yes I do live in pain everyday of my life. I'm no where as high on the pain killers as your husband. Do you think I want to be contributing nothing as you say? No I don't! I'd give anything to be pain free working holidays that I used to gripe about! I'm not selling my pills to make ends meet or any other wrong illegal thing you may think. I get a better monthly income from SSDI then most men I know. So just because I'm not prescribed that much, and by no means would I want to be, don't discriminate on those of us on SSDI. Most of us are there for a reason. I worked delivering news papers from age 9 till my health got me at age 40 as I stated working 2 full time jobs, a manager at both jobs. You may have made a lot of good points here but this was just a plain ignorant and rude comment. I wish you all the health in the world! I hope you never end up on disability with no purpose to life at all as you refer to my life. Thank you for being so ignorant!

@ hitman60: you are clearly not a medical professional of any kind, and I highly doubt you've felt real pain a day in your life. People with very painful conditions are given much more than 140 Oxys a month- many need pain rx cocktails just to live normal lives. You're obviously a judgmental kid that has no clue what actual pain patients experience and you probably are only speaking from the standpoint of taking a few Oxys here and there "for fun". Which means YOU are keeping legit pain patients from getting the relief they NEED to live a normal life. Keep your idiotic, baseless opinions to yourself. You've made yourself look like a total moron. Congrats. Lol.
