Soma Overview

Carisoprodol, marketed under the brand name Soma among others, is a prescription drug marketed since 1959. It is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant of the carbamate class and produces all the effects associated with barbiturates. Withdrawals from soma, morphine, xanax, oxycodone - help please
258 Replies RSS
I have been in pain management for years, lost my doctor along with other patients, and primary won't fill or says she can't and messes up my progress to get in new pain management in time. Now I'm losing Soma, was 3 times a day, now I have 7 tabs left. Was on 45 mg of morphine 3 times, oxycodone 15s and xanax 5 mg 3 times a day. Which she said she can not write for. Why, if she knew or thought this pain clinic was prescribing more than standard, did she never say a word until i had to go to her in desperation for this? Your primary that has to refer you and get info to get into a new pain clinic, I have very serious health issues no one is dealing with, I feel alone and suicidal. I even told my doctor and the old pain clinic staff that left, and not a bit of help, yet they ...

I have Fibromyralgia, anxiety, Panic attacks & 5 herniated discs in my back. I have been seeing a pain management doc for 2 years. He has me on Percocet 10mg 4 a day & Soma 325mg 3 a day. I went in yesterday & his nurse practitioner advised me they will no longer write Soma. They are going to put me on Zanaflex. I have taken just about every one out there. They all give me either a fast or irregular heart beat. Soma is the only one I have ever taken that doesn't cause any side effects. I have always taken my Rx as prescribed. I have never done illegal drugs. I'm a nurse & very afraid of this. My question is this. Is the Dea making it illegal for Docs to write Soma? I talked to a nurse at my GPS office & ask her would my Doc of 20 years write me Soma.He wrote ...

I have been taking Soma for many years, along with lorcet and over the counter ibuprophen for about 7 or 8 years. I believe it all started when I landed on top of my head and fractured my spine in the very upper part of my back, because thats when all hell broke loose. Ir was one painful thing after the otheri have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, however u spell that but for # years I have been getting these 3 day, cant even talk or open my eyes or do anything else headaches caused from these very painful knots in my upper back an neck and base of my scull caused from spasms making the muscle around my entire head start having spasms. SOMA 350MG WITH IMPRINTS OF SG 109
13 Replies RSS
Just received my refill of soma 350mg but they look different than the ones I am used to getting from the same pharmacy. No read out was put in the bag. The white round pill had a SG 109 on one side & blank on the other side. Anybody ever heard of these before? Because, since there was no print out of the new different medication I was a little worried, "what if the pharmacist made a little error in mine & somebody else's medications". Thanks for any feedback. ## Errors are made every day but these pills have been identified as Soma ## That is correct, they are manufactured by ScieGen Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 350mgs of Carisoprodol, which is a generic for Soma. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hea...

can't get soma & xanax together - thank's DEA
12 Replies RSS
Im a disabled person that lives in chronic pain every day. And have sever anxiety & panic attacks , so my doctor told me the DEA has Some more New Rules. Because the DEA knows more about how to treat sick people than a doctor. The new rule in Florida is if you are taking Valium or Xanax you can no longer get SOMA. The DEA has made life hell in Florida DEA is treating pharmacies like Drugs Dealers. Stopping the orders from even making it to the pharmacies. I'm talking about big pharmacies CVS Wallgreens and more. It's so bad you can't even get your Legal prescriptions filled. Because the DEA has mad it impossible for the pharmacies to get the medication, and so scared to fill the prescription. And I'm talking about people in wheelchairs with a legal prescription. This...

Pain Management Doctor in Florida
5 Replies RSS
I just moved from NYC to the Florida panhandled. I am having a difficult time finding a pain management doctor who will continue the meds I have been on for a broken back, failed spinal fusion. I take oxycondone and soma. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My other choice is to fly back to NY. Many thanks ## You will probably need to fly back to New York for now. However after a reasonable amount of time your out of state providers might cut you off and tell you to find a Doctor in your area ## I know this is older but just in case you're still looking...Dr. David Norfleet in crestview. They take insurance. He has no bedside manner and honestly I don't like him BUT after the first visit you see the NP and she is WONDERFUL! Very caring! The office staff is beyond rude....

Is Soma a narcotic muscle relaxer
47 Replies RSS
my doctor has told me that that soma is a narcotic and she does not want to prescribe it to me any more. I suffer from chronic back pain as well as muscle spasms. I have tried other muscle relaxers as well as anti inflamatories and none of then do not work. Soma is the only one I have found to work for me without making me sleepy. Any information you can give me i would really appreciate. Thank you, Dana ## No, it is not a narcotic. Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, but it has been known to be habit forming and to be abused, by some people. However, what you have to remember is that prescribing it is entirely up to your doctor, she is not obligated to do so. You also have the option of finding a different doctor, for any reason you choose. Are there any other questions? ...

I've been on soma for decades. Having troubles finding a dr. that will prescribe them. THESE ARE NON NARCOTIC MUSCLE RELAXERS for Christ's sake!!! Baclocen almost killed me. I am NOT allowed quality of life....even though there is legal medication to allow quality. I've been forced to go elsewhere to get relief. Unfortunately I'm on SS disability with $0 copay on prescription meds. But because i go another route it costs me big bucks. ## 15 years ago I found a local Pharmacist selling them, now Doctors hate writing for these, even back then. I picked up 90 today at Rite Aid and they were $1.33, the U & C was $54.99 ## I was on Soma for 17 years, then all of a sudden, my Dr. takes them from me telling me that since I take Xanax I can't have the Soma because these ...

Soma Versus Baclofen
38 Replies RSS
I was recently switched from soma to baclofen. The Baclofen makes me feel very strange and I cannot function as well on it as I can with Soma. It makes me sleepy, and frankly just makes me feel like crap. The Soma works better for me as far as muscle spasms. The Baclofen does help spinal pain but does not work as quickly as Soma on spasms. My doctors in Alabama refuse to prescribe me Soma even though I have been put on different muscke rekaxers, Soma works best with my body. Why will doctors nor prescribe what works best for the individual. Every thing works different on different people. I want to be able to function and not be a zombie. What should I do. My pain clinic doctor only wants to get meds from him, but if he wont prescribe what works, I will get my pain meds from him and som...
