Soma Overview

Carisoprodol, marketed under the brand name Soma among others, is a prescription drug marketed since 1959. It is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant of the carbamate class and produces all the effects associated with barbiturates. SOMA 350MG WITH IMPRINTS OF SG 109
16 Replies RSS
Just received my refill of soma 350mg but they look different than the ones I am used to getting from the same pharmacy. No read out was put in the bag. The white round pill had a SG 109 on one side & blank on the other side. Anybody ever heard of these before? Because, since there was no print out of the new different medication I was a little worried, "what if the pharmacist made a little error in mine & somebody else's medications". Thanks for any feedback. ## Errors are made every day but these pills have been identified as Soma ## That is correct, they are manufactured by ScieGen Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 350mgs of Carisoprodol, which is a generic for Soma. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hea...

What are the side effects. Of taking subutex. And soma together?? ## Im currently in a suboxone program and taking 24mg/day.. im also on lamictal, prestique,& clonopine 1mg4aday. I've. Had sciatica problems for years now..my family dr prescribed me soma 350 2/DAY BUT Now my suboxone dr wants to cut me down on my suboxone because of the soma. My point is, i have no harmful effects (feeling strange,dizziness,etc.. ).. i dont think its fair that i have to loose one medication because my dr gave me something. That actually HELPS with my bk(sciatica nerve problems)!! What should i do, what should i tell my suboxone dr. To make her understand!!?? ## Hello, Ceeps! How are you? Your doctor is perfectly correct in being concerned. Suboxone, Klonopin and Soma can all cause depression of th...

new orleans soma doctors

Can anyone help me with the name of a doctor that is not afraid to prescribe soma? I understand my prescription can not cross state line. I have been told by walgreens it has to be a local dr. ## I did not know it has to be a local Doctor as Federal Law should apply. Seems that the State is meddling in places it has no right to be, and we the patients suffer. I know in California and Arizona Walgreens wouldn't tell you this, even though the Doc might? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? To explain this issue, Soma has become more strictly controlled, since it is very commonly abused, which means that the pharmacy stock limits now apply to it, just as they do for narcotics and benzodiazepines. Every pharmacy can only stock a certain amount each month, once they are out, they are out until ...

drug interactions with soma

what drugs are compatable with soma ? I have been told not to take tramadol with it , What about lyrica? ## No one here is qualified to answer your question(s) with absolute certainty. Why not check with a Medical doctor? ## Hello, Cathy! How are you? I didn't find any interactions listed between Soma and Lyrica, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The main issue is that Soma has an effect on serotonin levels in the brain, so it may be dangerous to combine it with other medications that also have an effect on it, such as Tramadol, because it creates the risk of Serotonin Syndrome, which could be fatal. Lyrica, however, does not affect serotonin, it works on different brain chemicals. Where there other drugs that you wanted you to check? ## Sorry to ...

New Orleans Pain Dr.
26 Replies RSS
Hi. I'm looking for a pain management doctor in New Orleans/Westbank/etc area. I'm 27 and some places I called only accepts 35+. My Doc of 6yrs has cancer, so he transferred his patients. I recently found a Doc, but he doesn't prescribe soma, and reduced my pain meds. I rather just find a Doc in my area, than drive to BR each month for less meds. Thanks. ## Many Doctors do not like to prescribe Soma. You are also taking Pain Meds too? As you know pain medicine and Soma go together. Doctors know this too. Now that Soma a Schedule IV medication, you will find it harder to obtain. Still possible. ## Hi, Honey! I'm very sorry about the problems you're having. Unfortunately, even if I researched doctors for you in that area, I have no way of knowing what age or type of pa...

In NC...pain management RN, said SOMA not made anymore?
2 Replies RSS
Pain management for over 13 years. Saw an RN, not a pain doctor for some reason, I don't know why. Reduced my oxycodone 10/325 six/day to oxycodone 7.5/325 three/day, and ms contin ER 30mg three/day to two/day, then took me off 350mg SOMA three/day. Said that soma was not going to be in the market anymore!!?? Put me on Robaxin 750mg four/day and they make me very sick. Can't keep anything down. Called the clinic and RN is on vacation!! Nothing they can do! I can't understand this. It's soma being taken off the market? I've been a very responsible person when taking my medication. Every month I have a UA. I've passed all my pill counts also. I feel like I've did something wrong and I feel totally helpless and hopeless. I've been on same dosage for over 12 ...

So yesterday I FINALLY RECEIVED my order of Pain-O-Soma in the blister packs that are from (Supposedly) HAB Pharmaceuticals & they ARE / WERE AWFUL!!!! I took 3 & #1) they DID NOT FEEL LIKE ANY BRAND OF SOMA THAT'S MADE HERE IN THE GOOD OLD UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA & #2) I think that they may have even given me MORE // WORSE MUSCLE SPASMS!!!! I can't believe that I f***in wasted close to $200.00 on these things & then had to wait for over 3 weeks to receive them... They came from India... So now I've got over 120 of these damn things, they're in the blister packs & they're a plain white pill with no numbers or anything on them except for a strait line on one side of the pill... I read about these in these forums & because there were more posit...

Soma Versus Baclofen
39 Replies RSS
I was recently switched from soma to baclofen. The Baclofen makes me feel very strange and I cannot function as well on it as I can with Soma. It makes me sleepy, and frankly just makes me feel like crap. The Soma works better for me as far as muscle spasms. The Baclofen does help spinal pain but does not work as quickly as Soma on spasms. My doctors in Alabama refuse to prescribe me Soma even though I have been put on different muscke rekaxers, Soma works best with my body. Why will doctors nor prescribe what works best for the individual. Every thing works different on different people. I want to be able to function and not be a zombie. What should I do. My pain clinic doctor only wants to get meds from him, but if he wont prescribe what works, I will get my pain meds from him and som...

Can Soma be taken with Ms Contin?
1 Reply RSS
I have been on antidepressants, cymbalta, lamictal, ambien & klonopin. I'm am currently off ambien now and weaning klonopin, soon to be off. No complaints. My only trouble with trazodone is major headaches. I do stress exercises daily for chronic low back pain and surgery for l1 fracture. I've just come off five 10/325 norco to 15 mg ms contin 3 a day. My pain is better but not fully controlled. I'm very aware of addiction and dependence, so the less controlled substance the better. What I'm looking for is advice. My sleep cycle is horrible due to a lot of different medical issues, such as kidney stones. I have colon polyps surgery in two months. Plus I deal with regular stress. I go to a therapist and many doctors just wanted opinions of staying on ms contin. It gav...
