Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida

This is a nightmare!! I suffer from multiple auto-immune diseases such as Connective Tissue Disease, R.A, Livedo, Raynauds, & traces of Lupus. All of which cause EXCRUTIATING PAIN!! On top of all of those, my body attacks itself 24/7!! Over the years the doctors have tried a ridiculous amount of different pain medications. I called it the 'medication game', & it was anything but fun!! Either there was minimal to no relief with them, or they made me feel awful! They tried everything from Percocet 10mgs, Endocet, Methadone 45mgs per day, oxycontin, Hydromorphine 4mgs tablets & 8 mg tablets, & all medicatons are/were accompanied by Ibproufen 800 mgs capsules. During one hospital visit they even had me on a conjunction of Dilauded 8mgs PLUS oxycontin 20 mgs, every 3 hours. It was hell!! I finally saw light at the end of my tunnel when they tried me on Oxycodone 30mgs. I was so greatful bc it was the first medication to give me fantastic pain relief & not make me feel high or stoned what-so-ever!! I was able to get out of bed, function like a human being, & most importantly, be an involved, hand on [parent with my son again. He was just as greatful as I was bc he has his mother back. Fast forward 3 years, & I feel like im back to square one again! The uncompassionate, inconsiderate, ignorant beings who are responsible for the suffering that I, as well as millions of pain patients, should have to walk TWO DAY in our shoes!! I say 2 bc after the 1st full day of unbearable pain, that actually makes you ask yourself, " Would I be better off ending it all??", after this full day of pain is over, they can go to bed, & wake up to find themselves in the same condition the next day!! For a real pain patient without PROPER medication there is no 'It'll get/be better tomorrow"!! You would think after a bold move to stop all distribution of such a successful & life saving medication, they would've done a little bit of research! But no! They took the only bit of information they knew, which is the 'Street Drug Perspective', & ran with that!! Something has to give! I went to my dr yesterday & was given a script of Dilauded 8mgs. I HATE IT!!!!! Im nauseas, falling in & out of sleep ALL DAY, & it in no way, shape or form, gives me the comfortable relief that mysuccessful pain regiment of Oxycodone 30mgs 5-6X a day, as needed, gave me! On top of the dilauded making me feel like the walking dead (what do you expect fro morphine), I have unbearable sweats!! I dont know if its from the dilauded, or if its withdrawl from the oxycodone that i have been on for years. If anyone has ANY information as to when or if this shortage will end, please advise. I was told by one pharmasist last month that the state would start recieveing the medicationagainat the end of December. Is there any truth to that???

You need to get informed. I have had lupus since 1999 and founded a support group. There is no such thing as "touches of lupus". You either have it or you don't. A simple blood test would have given a doctor the answer. Second, I'm a chemist who worked for pharmaceutical companies for a number of years. OxyCodone is the same as Percocet. Percocet is the label. Doesn't make any sense that you have side affects from Percocet and not OxyCodone. Also it is NOT morphine. They are all opioids but that's where the similarities end. I have been in pain since a very serious auto accident in 1988. I was out of work for 18 months and had 1 emergency surgery followed by 4 more prior to being moved to an in-patient rehab facility. Then in 1999 I was diagnosed with lupus. I'm very familiar with chronic pain. I find it difficult to believe that you need that much pain medication to "survive". Even with all my chronic pain issues I don't take nearly that much medication. Everything you posted sounds over magnified and a way to justify a dependency on opiate drugs. Perhaps you should check into options for stopping the controlled substances.

Please without anymore judgement as I've had enough already. I will just say my pain from back problems is so bad I have thought of giving up. I am on two hundred mg of m s continue brand name once a day. I was on 400 and choose to have only 12 hours of pain rather than fight the dea and congress and pain doctors too. This consession is not good enough for any doctor here in Florida. What can I do? I will not go back in the pain I've endured. When will they allow for quality of your life to matter here in St Augustine, Fl.

I am in Florida also.. have gone through it all too! It's terrible that we who legitimately need it have to put up with the state crap because of those pill mills they shut down all over Florida! I use to get 180 pills per month until the drug stores started telling the doctors how many they would dispense! They cut mine to 120 took 60 pills away from me! So now I can only have 120 of the 15 mg. Absolutely useless! The only reason I keep taking them is to prevent withdrawal! I hate this crap too! But no one cares!!

Obama representatives passed law decreasing all narcotics 25 0/0 starting 2017. Supply demand will increase cost. We will all pay as citizens. It will be worse than prohibition. More organized crime and general deaths resulting from street drugs. I am so sorry. Im a disabled R.N.. My spine is very unstable, only treatment palliative (MS) just to aid activities daily living. Mother is 85. All of my family lives together and will not become criminal or alcoholic to relieve pain. Will not have my mother destitute due to med costs. Only solutions are to please call, email or write Pres. TRUMP to reverse law. FDA report states misuse of opiates is down, but deaths are higher due to street use. My severe pain and muscle spasms have led to the only solution for me. Choice of end of life. Not depressed nor trying escape desperately. Just cant have my mother destitute. People who have nerve pain do not have the same biological problems or assimilation of meds. Surprised me. Taking less to save money. Result: a substantial increase in nerve pain, muscle spasms, more instability problems of spine. I pray for all of us and our nation's democracy. Please pray for my soul. All faiths. God bless, hanging on as long as possible. It won't be violent or med overdose from narcotics. All will be peaceful and quiet. I will be listening to religious music. Place and time picked out. Have given gifts loving to all I love. Will done. Have pre-addressed envelopes with poem The Parting Glass included. They will be mailed by my attorney to notify them. Have had conversation with my mother. May God open his merciful heart to me. Catholics believe mortal sin of suicide. I hope our lord sees sometimes there is no other way. Thank you for reading. Im praying for all of you, friends and family that are affected. I know most of these posts are from people like myself who are not junkies. We just are being painted that way.

I was in the same situation trying to fill my prescription for Oxycodone 10 mg every month. I finally filled a complaint with the ADA and the next time I went to Walgreens, the Pharmacist filled it with no problems. I told her I would be back again in a month and to please order it for me so that I don't have to drive all over Miami again searching. The next month, no problem, they were actually waiting for me and even asked if I was planning on using their store on a regular basis. When I said, of course, the pharmacist I saw this time quickly informed me that he would be sure to inform his manager so that another order would be placed so that they would have it in stock. I have also heard that drug abusers were so bad in Florida not long ago that pharmist were actually being blackmailed, robbed, and even killed for oxycodone. My suggestion is that if anyone is having trouble getting their legitimate prescriptions filled, go to the pharmacy earlier in the morning (most drug abusers go late in the day), let the pharmacist know that you want that particular store to be your regular store so that they can order your medication, have it in stock when you are scheduled to fill your prescription and you don't have to go on a fishing expedition. Good luck

I was in a bad auto accident back in boynton beach nine months ago and dislocated my L-5 & L-6 disks and started on oxycontin 40mg twice a day and dilaudin 6mg 6x a day (30s are harder to find just go to 40) and from day one i went to a CVS in Boca Raton (where i was living BUT my license showed a Delray Beach Address over 20 miles away) i had no problem. I then moved to Fort Lauderdale, still, with the same license to my local cvs. Just handed her my new script from my new pain managment doctor (just showed him past records and he put me back on everything cause i am allergic to Tylenol and ibprofin*hint*) and my oxycontin discount card from perdua pharmaceutical. They didnt have it this was on a friday so the pharmacist said come back monday when they get it in. So because my records with cvs showed me filling oxys and dilaudin before, they ordered them for me. Asked how many i need per month and said to fill it on the same day each month and they will keep it stocked. Im a 30 year old real estate agent with purple hair lol. No judgement was made. As long as u have a valid reason and records you have taken these types of meds before you should be fine now. Things have calmed down

Walgreens has been saying the same thing in every state but when you go to a different pharmacy there's no issues. And trust me there's no shortages of any pain medications..I had issues with Walgreens in Ky and I finally started using a independent pharmacy and had no issues at all. Many pharmacies do not carry many narcotics due to robberies and chain stores like walgreens blame a lot of product loss thru shoplifting on narcotic users.Another chains I avoid is Kroger and Rite aid..

Don't believe this. There is NO truth to this at all. Oxycodone is slowly being taken off the market. There have been too many issues related to this drug and one of them is addiction so bad that ppl will do most anything to get them. That is very evident from what I see on this site. It's sad that a drug that dr's had no way of knowing would get so out of off control is now being taken off the market bc of crime rates, heavy addiction, homicide, suicide, etc. No one wants to believe this is happening but believe it. It's happening already and this is why ppl are so desperate to find them. There are no shortages..the DEA is slowly withdrawing them from the market. Sorry..but sometimes it's difficult to face the truth. Im so glad I got myself off oxycodone. I was tired of not being able to find them anywhere and having to go through horrible withdrawals when I didn't have them bc I could not get them. Maybe it's time to talk to your dr's about placing you on a different pain med so that you won't have to go through the withdrawals when the day comes that you will no longer be able to find them anywhere..not even on the street. Sorry, ppl, I know it's hard.

i've been in chronic pain since i was 15 & i'm now 56. what's being done to legitimate chronic pain patients is disgusting. have you ever heard of medtronic's intra-spinal drug infusion pump? by the time i reached 30 the pain was just unbearable & all the nsaids they had given me damaged my kidneys. i then found out about this pump & worked my best to get it. i did get it, although because i'm on il. medicaid they have tried to take it out 2 times (w/o success). only because of this pump, have i been able to come back to life as you said. look it up & you will find out all about them. i've had it now for 24 yrs. & take virtually no oral pain meds anymore!!!!!!! may you be blessed & know you r loved.dvxjk

NOT NECESSARILY SO. THE NEW LAWS IN FLA. MAKE IT SO ONLY CERTAIN PHARMACIES NOW CARRY NARCOTIC PAIN MEDS. YOUR PRESENT DRUG STORE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CARRY YOUR OLD MEDS ANYMORE. PERSONALLY I AM CONSIDERING SUING WALGREEN'S FOR REFUSING TO FILL MY PAIN MEDS FROM LAST JUNE UNTIL NOW.

hoping you are in Florida - it has bee true hell because the shortage has been the result of many patients doctor shopping - out of state patients - and over prescribing (not because of us but because that is what the 'expert' did to us) Now, we are surrering the opposite results due to the pendilum swinging the opposite way. Now, they all want us to take less than half of the amount we were used to taking and not considering the tolerance we have as the result of long term use. What do you do?? I've been continuing to try to work with the docs. I've been taken off of somas completely, any zanax has been depleted with the goal of being off benzos too (they are really worse withdrawal than the oxy in my opinion). As for the Oxy IR, Oxycontin and Methadone regimen. My husband takes the Methadone and Oxy 15's IR..(he has no insurance) I taks the Oxy 30's IR and Oxycontin 60mg because I do have insurance to pay for it. Needless to say, the oxy's are the hardest to find. I'm literally now into my scrip of the oxy/roxi IR's 2 weeks into the doc writing the scrip and have to live on the oxycontin for the time I'm not finding the other. (also, unfortunately I have to cheat and take methadone to just not be sick). Many Walgreen pharmacists have been told not to fill methadone and oxys together because of the long term effect the methadone has in your system extenuates the IR oxy to be more/most effective and possibly too effective - lol Anyway, I've found that I have to fill the oxycontin and then search for the 30's separately holding back some other non-narcotic scrip to fill along with it at another pharmacy because Walgreens has not had the 30's for at least 6 months even though I've used them on a monthly basis up until the time they had them for 4-5 years consistently...

Anyone know of any pharmacies that are willing to take new patients for filling ALL scrips together?? I'm in Hillsborough County Florida
Thank for any info you may have

They do not allow people to pre-order pain medicine. In fact, they are supposed to fill on a first come, first serve. Have been told it is illegal for them to "hold" certain pain meds for a customer. However, it alllll depends on the pharmacist you get.
