How Long After Taking A Suboxone Can You Take An Opiate? (Page 12) (Top voted first)

I have been on 8 mg/2mg Suboxone strips for 1 year. I am having a tooth (back molar) extraction in the morning. I used my Suboxone strip this morning & the tooth extraction is at 9:30 am tomorrow. If I don't use another Suboxone strip before the extraction, would I be able to take Hydrocodone after my surgery? I don't want to get sick, but I am terrified of going through this surgery with no pain meds. Please help.

One year is a foolish answer..and is not realistic. I mean, yes, it could take a year to resume your sleep schedule, but no way in heck does it take a year for anybody body to recover to its normal release of chemicals and functions. This has been studied, and the best professionals never mention a year for your brain chemicals to recover to their normal range. Your personality, mood, sleep and physical functions may be altered for a very long time, but a year is almost like saying "once you eat a narcotic, you might never recover". The one year post was removed as inaccurate for a reason. Maybe one person in 50 million, but that does not pertain to any of us. We like to think we are all on a somewhat "normal" human composition. Although the scale can swing quite a bit either direction, a year is not realistic or a realistic answer. There are people that feel no pain ever, even if you cut their arm off,... but to tell people they "might" not feel any pain if their arm is cut off is "unrealistic" also. You can die from eating corn or carrots, but I have never heard of a warning for such.

I was on suboxome years ago, I don't think you can take any opiates right after because it takes time. More than few hours or days.
However, not a whole year. The worst pain med, I ever took TRAMADOL you should ask for. It's safe with suboxone!! Keep in mind, it may not be an opiate, but it's super addictive and has side effects..you can't stay on it long.
I'm only suggesting it because it's a somewhat strong pain med, for after dental care for example you can take with suboxone,

PEOPLE! The issue here is not how long to stop taking the Suboxone so that the pain meds will work. The BIGGER ISSUE IS THAT IF THEY ARE TAKEN TO CLOSE TOGETHER, IT WILL THROW THE PERSON INTO SEVERE, SEVERE WITHDRAWALS. If you are going to stop taking the Suboxone, you have to reverse what you did when you started it.

1. You have to stop taking the Suboxone long enough that you are on the brink of full withdrawals, (this insures the Suboxone is out of your system)

2. Then carefully start taking the pain medicine. But be careful, the protocol is that you DON'T take opiates while on Suboxone, and the Dr that prescribes your Suboxone will know that you were prescribed an opiate, no matter where you get it filled.

3. I would strongly encourage you to stay on the Suboxone, it does have pain relieving properties, though not as strong as hydrocodone. And make sure your dentist knows you are Suboxone, just in case something goes haywire and your dentist feels the need to give you an opiate, or has to send you to the ER and they give you something.

I have taken 1/4 Suboxone strip merely like five hours before taking an opana. I still feel the opana working. So when you want to get wasted and your on Suboxone all you have to do is just take a very little tiny bit of Suboxone to get you through the morning and then late at night you can get f***** up

I have been doing no more than .75 mg of suboxone a day for 3 weeks now, and getting ready to come off of it will I have bad w/d from that short of time? The reason I started them from the streets can't afford sub dr. I have mutiple sclerosis and was on pain meds for 25 years and I'm sick of running out bc the pain dr will only give 2 percocet day and a fentyl patch which made me throw up all the time, and the dr told me I would get used to that, but I never did so I quit putting the patches on. The 2 percocet 500s a day barely does anything, and it was costing me a fortune for injection all the time and these pain drs don't care if you're in pain here where I live. I just wish they could be in my body once and then they would see how much pain I deal with, lot of back problems too! I took about .25 mg of suboxone and I'm in alot of pain would one percocet work if I took it? I took seven 8 mg strips in 21 days I started with about a gram, and cut it down to .25 of a gram now, will I get bad w/d now that I'm done after Today ?

Sorry stood e sweetie e. I took a 8 mg sub his morning around 7or 8 give our take. Will it b okay for me to take a oxy15 right now or in the morning, at least? I have my sub script in the pharm and can pay for then but the docror needs a approval from my therapist doc I'm seeing in order to get then filled. The therapist, which I am regularly seeing but it takes FOREVER for all that to go thru. And Im scared I'll b sick bc I suppose to take 2 8mg strips a day. Please if anyone can help if appreciate it ASAP thx again. :-) :-) I just am scared it won't thru for a few days and I don't have the cash to get then out. So would it b okay to take a oxy 15? If you are on suboxone you won't need or even feel the affects of Vicodin anyway..and if you were an honest person at the dentist office they would ask you what prescriptions you were on you when you told them about suboxon they would not give you Vicodin..and if you do not misuse drugs you would be asking the doctor who gave the subs and not a website..subs are given to keep people away from opiates anyways..taking both would be drug abuse.. man up and call your first doctor and hope he doesn't cut you off your suboxone addiction of over a year..

So if I took a 10 mg Hydrocodone after not taking a Suboxone for 24-28 hours, will it throw me into withdrawals? That would do me in after surgery to end up in wd's.

Sorry to say but 8 mg of Suboxone is way stronger then any hydrocodone. It would take a year for you to even feel the effects. Tolerance takes forever to come back to normal.
