Many people that are being turned away from opioids (and maybe other drugs) are refused based on the requirement that the prescribers check this database. For more information this is a Wired.com article. PLEASE read, ask you doctor if this is a negative report. ## This database isn't new, it has been around for quite awhile, and was put in place to help prevent opiate abuse, and doctor shopping. Doctors can check the database to see if someone is having the same medications prescribed elsewhere, if they've been caught doing so, are known for abusing medications, or are just a patient in need of pain relief. This site provides more details on what it is, and how/why it's used; NarxCare Database This is why I usually warn people that ask about not trying to get multiple dupli...

Has anyone else been prescribed Belbuca? I'm unable to have any other opiates prescribed to me and now I'm on this med. I'm surprised how well it works after a few adjustments to get the dosage right. I'm currently on 600 mcg 2x day. I have lots of back issues and I used to take Hyslinga 30 mg x 2 day and oxycodone 10 mg 5x day. This stuff is much easier to manage then the pills, and the pain relief is great.. ## That's awesome, so very glad that it is working so well for you, since it tends to be hit or miss for some people. The FDA warns that Belbuca does carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Is anyone else also experiencing good results on this medication? ## The dosage ...

I have been seeing a doc for 4 yrs for pain management who put me on 100 mg. Methadone. He left his practice and his replacement won't prescribe methadone. I have called multiple pain management docs who will not take me at this mg level. I have tried everything else before and need a LAS VEGAS area doc who will see me soon. ## In a way, you may be creating your own problem here. If you are calling other doctors and asking if they will prescribe Methadone at your current dosage level, then just about all of them are going to say no. The reason for this is due to the fact that doing so is considered drug seeking behavior and doctors are warned to avoid taking on such patients. The best thing you can do is to make an appointment with a new doctor for a consultation and make sure that ...

My brother is a disabled vet of the gulf war with a lot of chronic back pain and he's got a lot of health problems. Are there any doctors in Joplin MO taking new patients? ## Hello Cindy! Sorry to hear about your brother. How is he doing? Does he currently have a PCP? If so, that would most likely be the easiest way for him to get the help he needs, he can ask them to refer him to someone. Most pain management specialists have been swamped, due to the change in regulations this year, so it's difficult to get in, without a good referral. ## Did u ever find a decent pain doctor in Joplin mo?? I am new to the area, but I am familiar with dr Knudsen ( I use the title of Dr very loosely) nobody should ever use this dr... I have multiple problems.. Desperate for a decent dr.. I need i...

if i ad 1000 mgs of tylenol to my 15mg oxycodone will i get longer pain relief??more hours? ## If your doctor approves, it is only necessary to add a regular dose of Tylenol/Acetaminophen of 325mgs. It can help augment the action of Opiates for some people. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You also need to remember tylenol can be toxic to the liver and you should be closely monitoring tylenol daily intake. Most sites say 3000mg a day is,safe but that's not for long term use, short term pain relief only. My pain dr says it's more like 2000 for chronic patients on these med's for years and still could ...

Has anyone found out if Lortab or Lorcet is a better hydrocodone option for chronic pain, if you're one of MANY people that have had BAD reactions to many of the defective, generic 10-325 Norco? Serious answers from chronic pain patients, please. ## They all contain Hydrocodone as the active ingredient, with Acetaminophen. Thus, there won't be much of a difference between them, they are all different names for the same opiate. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What type of bad reactions have you experienced? Can you please post back and clarify?

Don't want to overdo it. But pain is horrific. How many Vicodin 's(10-300) are potentially lethal? ## Hi John, While there's no exact number of pills for a potentially lethal dose, I can tell you that for your own safety, the FDA recommends NO MORE THAN 4000mgs a day of Acetaminophen, and that is to be spread out over a 24hr period - NOT to be taken all at once. They also state in their warning that anything over 325mgs in a sitting has been shown to cause liver damage/failure; which from my understanding can eventually lead to death if liver damage is severe. So why don't you just ask the doctor for something stronger if Vicodin isn't cutting it? A lot of chronic pain patients are prescribed much more potent medications WITHOUT Acetaminophen, such as Oxycodone, Opan...

I found a pill in my sons room in the floor today, I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what it is. It is a white round shape and has the letter E on it with the #311 underneath, any ideas? ## No, that is not ecstasy. Your pill is made legally by a company called Eon Labs. The white round pill marked E 311 contains Tramadol hydrochloride 50 mg (NDC 00185-0311). TRAMADOL 50mg (Ultram®) is an analgesic that can relieve moderate to moderately severe pain following surgery such as cesarean section, hysterectomy, hip replacement or other bone surgery, and dental surgery. This drug also helps relieve chronic pain associated with cancer, nerve pain, or low-back pain. A warning: In some patients tramadol (ultram) has been known to cause seizures with doses over 100mg per da...
