My husband is on 2 - 30 mg morphine daily. He feels terrible and just wants to get off. How? ## From personal experience, I can tell you that even only using it as prescribed can result in severe withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey. Mine lasted for nearly a month. The best way to stop Morphine is to slowly taper it off, that way you minimize the withdrawals. He should really consult his doctor to get the best taper schedule and be under a doctor's supervision while he is stopping it. It is a very potent narcotic. Has he spoken to his doctor about his desire to stop using it, yet?

I am forced off morphine as drug panels allowed doctors to force legitimate pain patients off meds with no legal protections for patients. The pain associations that promoted drug evaluations, did not advocate that patients be withheld pain meds, unless they had aberrant behavior more than 2 times. Veterans killed themselves because of a intolerant policy that forced them into withdrawal. I have taken off-green color *generic morphine 30mg e.R for a number of years with good results / 4 chronic pain. Now pharmacy is giving me morphine tab - 30mg e.R made by a lab called *mallinkrt. Taking it does bother my stomach, and does not last as e.R should. Seems alot of this stuff being substituted at pharmacies. Twice I've been given this made by mallinkrt lab and it doesnt work. I was prescribed a 30mg morphine gell tablet yesterday he said to take one last night at 8 o'clock, and the next one this morning at 8 o'clock and so on for a week then go back to him. After a brain & spine surgery a 1.5yr. ago (forever living w/ Chiari Malformation & related conditions, permanent damage, more surgery) I've been on 30mg. I am currently taking 60mg of morphine sulfate ER twice a day and 30 mg of oxycodone HCL four times a day. For some reason I came up short one morphine on the last day of my prescription, so I only have one I can take instead of two until I get my new script tomorrow morning. Instead of taking the last morphine this morning, I waited and took it around 4pm tonight. Will I have withdrawl symptoms from missing a dose of Morphine, but continuing to take the oxycodone 30mg? ## If you didn't have any during the interim, where you didn't take it until much later, then no, you should be fine. My mom has chronic pain due to her low back. Has been on Morphine 15 mg SR for at least 15 years also Percocet 5mg for break thru pain. Last appt. with MD we explained that 15 mg was not covering her pain. I asked to bump her up to 20 mg (I am an RN) but was told that is not how it goes and was given a RX for Morphine 30 mg q 12 hours. She was on q 12 hours prior. Sometimes the morphine 30mg doesn't last as long so I've been going going back and forth between that and the oxymorphone 10mg. I was jus wondering because. I am usually on 60mg 3x a day. Hello, I have an appointment coming up with PM Dr in a week. I am currently taking the morphine ER, 30mg twice daily, along with 4 10mg oxycodone per day as needed. .my questions are..is hydromorphone ER better vs the morphine ER in terms of pain control and how long it lasts in the body? I have been using 1 mg of suboxone once in the late morning for the past 3-4 days while waiting for a refill on my 30mg morphine tabs. I took a dose of the suboxone around 10:38 this morning, so the question is: will I be okay to take a dose of my morphine around 6:30 this evening? It will have been about 8 hours. ## Hello, Sasha!
