I'm taking 50 mg trazodone for insomnia. Some nights I have a lot of hip pain. Could I also take an Excedrin pm? ## It is generally best not to combine the 2, unless your doctor instructs otherwise, since the Excedrin PM also contains a medication to help induce sleep, according to the FDA. Taking them together could cause you to experience too much sedation, which may result in respiratory distress, or respiratory failure. Are you on any other medications?

Can Excedrin P.M. cause bad dreams? ## That is a side effect that's known to occur with most all medications. Other side effects of Excedrin PM may include grogginess, dry mouth, and dizziness. However, these is no way to say for sure that the Excedrin PM caused it, since everyone has nightmares, at least once in awhile. If excedrin pm and aleve are combined, what happens ## It depends on the amount that is combined. Large amounts of it could cause severe organ damage and/or a fatal overdose. However, a normal dose will usually just result in upset stomach, headache, vomiting and stomach irritation. You may also get really drowsy and dizzy. In general, they really shouldn't be combined, because you are combining medications that all do the same things, so it isn't necessary. The Excedrin PM contains Acetaminophen and Diphenhydramine: and the Aleve contains Naproxen: Also, combining them regularly can result in organ damage, or stomach conditions such as ulcers and gastritis. I have some Excederin PM that expired on Sept. 2009 and it is now march 2011. Is it safe to take it so long after the expiration ? it is hard to get where i live. thank you ## Excedrin PM contains Acetaminophen and Diphenydramine. No, neither one of those gets dangerous after the expiration date, but they will lose effectiveness, so may not work as well as they used to and since they do contain Acetaminophen, you will have to very careful about taking any extra tablets, because it can be toxic if you take too much in 24 hours. Took Excedrin PM. Every night for a month but took 4 instead of typical 2. Woke up in hospital. Dr. Said seizure but I say reaction to too much Excedrin P.M. Dr. put me on dilantin and I've never had one before or after. Was taking 4 a day but have cut it down too two and now ready to take only 1 before completely stop all together. No funny feelings or abnormal reactions. ## It could be due to either, or, it's hard to say from just the information in this post. Was a scan done by a neurologist? Usually a scan of the brain is used to determine epilepsy. I understand the doctor's concern, some medications can lower you seizure threshold, which could signify that you have a condition putting you at risk of seizures, anyway. Hello, Just started on imitrex nasal spray 2 days ago, had to use 2nd dose at exactly the 2 hour mark the first night ('alarm clock headache' at 5am). Used it tonight and an hour later vomited, felt a little better, but still have lingering headache. Is this all normal? As it is the weekend, cannot verify with my PMD, and just want to make sure I am taking it properly - should I be lying down, head upright? Any better way of administration? I think I may have failed a drug screen for pain Dr. I had quit smoking weed a 28 days before the appts, my first appt and I quit the day I made appt. For the previous 2 months before I quit completely I only smoked a cpl puffs cpl days a week. Prior to that, so 77 days before, I smoked not a lot at a time but daily. I am currently a patient at a Methadone Clinic and have been for over 3 years now. I have never failed a drug test at my clinic in the 3+ years I've been a patient. This morning my counsler calls me to tell me that 3-4 weeks ago I tested positive for buprenorphine. She resubmitted it to the lab for further testing, and it still came back with a positivie result. I take 140mgs. of Methadone daily, motrin or excedrine when needed, and Diphenhydramine at night to sleep. I've been taking this combination of meds for 3+ years as well, never having received a positive result for anything other than Methadone until now. I tested positive for morphine in my system and do not take it. My husband does and am wondering if handling his would make me test positive? ## If all you're doing is touching them, to hand them to him, then no, you shouldn't be absorbing enough for it to be detected, because the tablets are coated. There are things, however, the can cause false positives.
