Rhodes Pharm 30mg Oxycodone

Updated

Hi, After 12 years of taking the blue 30's the pharmacy gave me these big white tabs. My question is why are the blue more potent than the white from Rhodes Pharm. Is it the quality of the ingredients? The brand Roxi you cant find anymore why is that?

Generic medications are allowed to differ from the name brand in the amount of the active ingredients by as much as plus or minus 20% as decreed by the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984.

They also don't have to measure against each other, just the name brand, so some generics may be slightly stronger or weaker than another.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The name brand is still available, but the pharmacy is required to provide a generic, unless your doctor specifically says that you must have the name brand.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Let me know if you see this post and if so I will further explain why you want to STAY AWAY from Rhodes Pharm. They used to only sell overseas and the fillers in these meds make people sick, creates horrible headaches, nausea, and mood swings. I want to know how many other people are getting sick from this medicine?

I have been on oxycodone 20 milligrams for years. Recently switch to Rhodes brand. I do not take them recreationally. These are making me sick and dizzy with no pain control! Most importantly!.. taking 3 pills, which I could not do from a former brand. It is like taking a motrin! What can be done?? Can these pills be reported?

Can anyone please tell me which of the generic percocet (5/325) actually works? I have a choice between Rhodes, activas, and amneal. TIA!! Just had surgery today. Took the amneal a year or so ago, and it made me itch so much I couldn't sleep...

I would get the Rhodes Percocets. I like how the RP/325 are pressed hard like roxicet, are scored to easily break, and seem strong to me.

Thank you so much! I unfortunately filled the script for the Activas today, but will be having surgery again next week, and will go for the Rhodes then. These are def weaker than what I've had in the past. about 15 months ago I got some plain Oxycodone (no tylenol) for a cosmetic procedure, and those were MUCH stronger than these. Too bad I can't remember what they were... (they were 5mg though, which is the same) I feel SO sorry for folks who are depending on this long term, and have to deal with all these quality control issues!

I am. Sorry for everyone else's illness but something needs to be done about these Rhodes brand oxycodone! I know it is not in my head. The last thing I wish to do is to suffer more pain while I'm trying to get rid of my spine pain. The most notable side effect is extreme headaches.

YES you can and should report these meds! I did but obviously more people need to do this in order to get these meds out of the pharmacies. I believe I filled out a form online with the FDA, but it's been months. Google it, that's what I did.

I actually didn't get a choice from my pharmacy. I called around to several, and these were the options available. I ended up going to the pharmacy I trusted the most, had my insurance on file, etc. I'm embarrassed to say how long that I took researching all this stuff today. I am basically a wimp with pain, and wanted something that works. I've got a bit of an update on this Activis. It got a bit better about 1.5 HOURS after I took it. Seems like a really long lead time, but maybe they'll last longer? That would be nice for sleeping through the night. They are still not as good as what I had before (the plain Oxycod), but at least they are doing something. And I have no nausea, headaches, etc. Hopefully this info will be of help to someone.

Verwon: That is crap man. Your statement is simply not true. There is NOT allowed to be a +- 20% difference. Please provide evidence to support this claim.

Agree. I am a pain management Doctor, been doing this for 24 years, so if you plan to take your oxycodone HCT 30 the correct way (by mouth) even the large Rhodes 30s work fine. I tried them myself. Compared to Actavis A/215 imprint (Actavis has very little fillers, but they are more toxic the Rhodes cellulose), so to all legitimate patients there is no law in the world that have absurd +/- 20% it's 6mg people, so one pill could be 24mg and another 36mg? Whoever came up with this idiocy is a totally misinforming you. I know that +/- 2% is acceptable, but company will get on the monthly FDA monitoring list and no company wants to do that. And 2% is .6mg so in daily intake (let's say 30mg QID or 4 times a day it will only be 2.4mg less while taking 120 MG or 117.6mg to be accurate) very few companies that make generics ever want to mess with it. But 20!!!!% IT IS TOTALLY WRONG AND STOP MAKING UP LIES!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lagatuda LAGS Pain Management (Google me if you don't believe what I say)

I don't know about your credentials but after having a thyroid storm. When my thyroid was removed my Dr put me on synthroid and told me to make sure to get name brand because generic is allowed a percentage difference. So you may want to check the generic guidelines before making this statement.

Anyone who is on Rhodes lp oxycodone, PLEASE REPORT any NEG experience to FDA. It is a very simple process. You can also google Rhodes Pharmaceutical (owned by Purdue) -your name is not used publicly. We are all aware of side effects from oxycodone therapy. However, if you have taken this medicine long enough you know what side effects to expect. RHODES not only has increased side effects- for me personally-on Month 5, it has deliver poor pain control. I believe it is low quality generic. I would not have gone to the trouble of posting this, had I not felt very strongly about this medicine. Your name will not be used probably, the pharmaceutical company will not know unless it's reported! I feel better it is unfair to chronic pain patients as well as the insurance companies that are paying a hefty price for the med. I wish I didn't have to take anything.. Since I do- I expect it to work on pain control better. I received trigger point inj's. every two weeks in addition to the medication. My pain control also includes proper nutrition, stretching etc.

I don't have to prove my credentials, I just tried to explain that it's a huge variable +/-20%. Since I am not endocrinologist, but a Pain Managment Doctor and Surgeon, I cannot speak for hormone replacement meds since I do not prescribe them, however my friend, levothyroxine is a medication that is prescribed to my wife, she has hypothyroidism and takes 25 MCG of the medication you mentioned. The generics only vary in inactive ingredients, BUT taking into consideration that you don't have thyroid gland at all you might be affected by those inactive ingredients, and if you can afford to stay on brand Levothyroxine then by all means, but I just want to make sure you don't mix hormonal medications properties with pain medications. I am sorry that you have to take probably quite large of a dose of levothyroxine, and if for some reason you ever forced to get generics only: from my own experience in a wide variety of medication prescribing, names like Actavis or Qualitest are the best. I asked a friend of mine who is an endocrinologist and according to him, he was approached by the company representatives that makes the Brand numerous times and offered coupons, samples (which we all like to share with patients) but also a donation in the substantial amount of money for telling his patients that they must stay on Brand since generics can cause negative reactions and other absurd statements. So here is my input, one day this company will abandon making the brand or will make it in very small quantities, so it would be hard to get even in major pharmacies. If it doesn't cost you nothing, then God bless you and your health, but if you pay a lot for that brand than you might seek a second opinion from another specialist. Example I prescribe Roxicodone 30 mg for years and years, but Roxane Pharmaceutical stopped making their brand oxycodone HCT 30 mg due to expiration of their patent and huge competition from generic making giants like Teva, Mylan, Rhodes (worst company ever), Actavis (great manufacturer) and others!

Actually verwon was close, and he did mention his source the Hatch-Waxman act of 1984. Look it up. You will find generic medicines in the US need to be bioequivalent. Then look up FDA bioequivalence specifications. I have a pdf from the FDA website on in vivo, in vitro testing, it seems I can't post it, but as I said, do a little research and you will find it. (It even has pictures!) The guideline is no less than 80% no greater than 125. Of course you all are missing the fact that the FDA is just as corrupt as the rest of US government.

November 4,2022 and my pharmacy says they can’t order any brand anymore, they just get what the distributor has. Anyone heard that? I got Rhodes today and I told them they cause bad side effects and the pharmacist remembered it and told me he was sorry but he could only order like OXYCODONE 30 and he didn’t have a clue what he would get until it got there. That was said at every pharmacy in town as of today. I’m preparing for a rough month.

As a legitimate CPP (chronic pain patient) for last 20yrs, the quality & efficacy of Generic PERCOCET OXYCODONE/ACETAMINOPHIN in the last couple of years has declined & getting worse to-date, causing the worst noticable negative side effects ever as if I’m taking an over the counter sleep side or something!

At first I thought it was a tolerance issue...not. Then I thought I was losing my mind...but thanks to all of you & your experiences I ruled that out, too.

I finally was given MALLINKRODT Brand from CVS, which compared to all, gave a positive effect. However, they no longer carry it & each month I never know what ineffective brand I’ll receive. I can’t even special order the MALLINKRODT or even the name brand PERCOCET! Yes, we now all know it’s due to the pricing/profit margin’s for pharmacies so they carry the cheapest they can get.

Where or how can I get the MALLINKRODT BRAND? I live in N.East FL, St John’s County.

Blessings to all; hang in there fellow CPP’s; pray other’s who throw rock’s of stigma & judge us are NEVER forced to live a day in our shoes due to undeserved, unavoidable, unexpected, unwanted circumstances beyond our control! #CPP #ChronicPainWarriors

Re: Darwinski (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

You are absolutely correct. In order for other pharmaceutical companies to sell for example the 30 mg Oxycodones they need to stay a helluva lot closer to than +/-- 20 % thats being mentioned, and I mean a helluva lot closer, I'm talking within granules. Whatever pharmaceutical company holds the original patent for the 30 mg Oxycodones, when they submit their patent application, it also goes to 2 or 3 other Gov't overseers who along with the people who accept and file all registered patents not only for all USA companies and their legal residents but worldwide also. Now when that particular patent is submitted, it will also include the exact combination and precise measurement of everything that goes into the production of the pill. Because of all the years, money, and countless testing of the "finished product", little to no variation of the original product is clearly emphasized and enforced in order to be another pharmaceutical order who is given the proverbial "green light" to manufacture their own generic form. These guidelines are again strictly enforced by not only the patent people but also the DEA and Food and Drug Administration too. This all done with exact proficiency in order to protect the integrity of original product manufactured by the original maker of the drug itself. And that's it in a nutshell, as much as today's internet can be a necessity for all, it also can be considered a dangerous thing for others.

Yes, how can we tell Rhodes pharmaceutical, that their ripping people off with their lousy 20mg oxycodone. They should be reported to FDA, that the stated dose is wrong, wrong.

Rhodes oxycode 30s should be illegal here in USA.They do nothing for the pain and my roomate just got those for first time and never seen her so bad. There 10 times the weight give y headachs and she said she was seeing cross eyed.I get precribed the sme ones but never got those and if I ever did I would just refuse them.Shes thinking about checking into the Hospital to see why these things arent working or why shes in so much more pain than useually.

Re: KF683 (# 24) Expand Referenced Message

I am a cancer patient, have been on 30IR since the start. Went through several different pharmaceuticals before finding the one that actually relieved the pain to the extent I could function like to do my laundry. I certainly wasn't looking for a high. I have never been a drinker, never been drunk, was an athlete for years and took care of my body. I had no idea about pills until Sarcoma came into my life and I can tell you that no all generics are the same and Rhodes is crap. They don't even touch the pain I endure, so until you walk in shoes like mine with the grade of pain I live with, I don't feel you can address which company has the right combo that works. Everyone's system is different so is there a threshold for pain and for me its Mallinckrodt. I have been on them for some time and they have no side effects and work great.

You're statement of "Do Not Mix Hormone Drugs with Pain Meds is FLAT OUT WRONG.

Long Term use of opioids can casue hypogonaism in Men. Untreated can cause HPA syndrome and inactivity which will lead to Endocrine issues.

I know I suffer with these issue.

But unlike you I have competent doctors that are treating both my pain and hormone issues. I'm being successfully treated and take both pain and hormone drugs and they work when prescribed and monitored by an Endocrinologist.

Stick to treating your wife and the Title 10 kids Doc...they can't sue you.
