Percocet Dosage Limits 5/325 (Page 9) (Top voted first)

I am taking the percocet 512 white tablets 5mg/325 for severe back pain due to degenerating disc(s). I have been told 1 pill every 8 hours, but find the pain so excruciating after about 5 hours that I cannot even stand... even to use the bathroom or shower. My MD cannot get me into a specialist until August, but I am having real stress here. Will it be harmful for me to take more than the one tablet per 8 hours??

I was in a accident in work -all disc in neck messed up 5 in back, 2 shoulder surgeries, fluid in hip ---left side messed up, rsd disease, neurophathy 3 kinds----after surgery 23 ---10 mg perks 1st night then 19-17-15- now 9 a day for 5 years, 4 rehabs, chronic pain---- it sucks. The pain specialist wont give perk 30tys. I need 4 a day instead of 6 -10mg and 3 -30 mg of morphine every day. It sucks.

You should not take more than 4 grams of acetaminophen in a 24 hour period. That is providing your liver is healthy. Also check with you doctor in using an alternate pain reliever that has a lower amount of acetaminophen. They are fairly new for this very issue of pain management.

OXY IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AND VERY DANGEROUS,,,,PLEASE GET ALL THE INFORMATION YOU CAN ABOUT OXYCONTIN. I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO TOOK IT SHORT TERM AND GOT ADDICTED AND ARE NOT ON METHADONE BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T STOP TAKING IT. THEY COULD END UP ON METHADONE FOREVER CAUSE THEIR DOSES KEEP GOING UP BECAUSE THEY BECOME AGITATED. I HAVE BEEN ON PERCOCET FOR 13 YEARS TO WALK BECAUSE I HAD ONE ANKLE CRUSHED AND THE OTHER IS FULL OF PLATES AND BOLTS. WITHOUT THEM I WOULD NOT WALK,,,,,,,,,,,,,I DO NOT WANT TO GO ON OXY BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO BECOME SEVERELY ADDICTED TO IT. I BELIEVE ITS SAFER TO TAKE MORE PERCOCET THAN IT IS TO TAKE OXYCONTIN. THERE IS ONLY 5MGS OF OXYCONTIN IN PERKS AND THE ACETAMINOPHEN WORKS WELL WITH IT.

It would depend completely on how many you end up taking each day, of course, but let's assume that you take one tab every four hours for a total of four pills a day.... That would give you a ten day supply. If you take more than that, the less total number of days supply you'll have, OK? I hope that makes sense. Good luck to you and may God bless.

Im a 17 year old female and weigh about 130 lbs. I just took 5 oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325 tabs. What will happen?

Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, so yes, taking more than prescribed CAN BE DANGEROUS!

Aside from risking addiction to the Oxycodone, Acetaminophen is actually very toxic, taking too much of it in 24hours can result in sever liver damage, and has the potential to be fatal.

Since so many people don't understand this and have a tendency to double up on these medications, that is why the FDA is considering pulling them from the market.

A high dosage can also compound the side effects, which may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness amd constipation.

Hello Proudwife, As I stated before, I had a small discussion with my MD about percoet5/325. He pretty much confrimed what Mr. Verwon stated. Most MD's do not like to prescribe Percocet unless the pain is almost embearable. Taking to much or too many can cause liver damage, and are highly addictive. Since I told him about my bout with pain in my shoulder when I stopped taking them for about a day, he prescribed Viccodine5/325 which isn't as strong but still very addictive. Nonetheless, they seem to be working well for me. I only have 8 more to take before my surgury. Hopefully, I will done with taking any meds at all. Thanks everyone for the feedback. By the way, I had been taking them for about a month before I realized the discomfort in my shoulders, and it really did let me know when it was time for another pill or two. So as I said before check with your MD, and try to notice any withdrawal semptoms. Taking the two pills did not make me high or drowsey, they just eased the pain somewhat
