Are you certain that this is the correct name?

I can't find any listings for anything under this name or something similar.

Can you double check and post back, please?

What country are you in?

nicovas 500 = inositol nicotinate tablet BP

Side Effect

Inositol nicotinate seems to be safe for most people. It can cause some side effects such as stomach upset, headache, nausea, burping, and hiccups. It might also cause liver damage like other niacin products in some people.

Some inositol nicotinate products are promoted as "no-flush" niacin because some people think they don't cause as much flushing as regular niacin. But this possible benefit has not been proven in research studies.

Special Precautions & Warnings

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of inositol nicotinate during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

Allergies: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, might make allergies worse by releasing histamine. This is the chemical that triggers allergy symptoms.

Heart disease/heart-related chest pain (unstable angina): Large amounts of niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, can increase the risk of irregular heartbeat. If you have a heart condition, check with your healthcare provider before using inositol nicotinate.

Diabetes: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, can interfere with blood sugar control. This might require an adjustment in the dose of medicines needed to control diabetes. Increased blood sugar monitoring may be necessary, particularly at the beginning of treatment. If you have diabetes, check with your healthcare provider before using inositol nicotinate.

Gallbladder disease: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, might make gallbladder problems worse. Use with caution.

Gout: Large amounts of niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, might trigger gout. Use with caution.

Low blood pressure: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, can cause low blood pressure. Use with caution.

Kidney disease: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, might accumulate in people with kidney disease and make their condition worse. Don’t use inositol nicotinate if you have kidney problems.

Liver disease: Niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, can cause liver damage. Don’t use inositol nicotinate if you have liver disease.

Sensitivity to niacin: Niacin is released when inositol nicotinate is processed by the body. If you are sensitive to niacin, don’t use inositol nicotinate.

Ulcers in the stomach or intestines (peptic ulcer disease): Large amounts of niacin, a chemical that is released when inositol nicotinate breaks down in the body, might make peptic ulcer disease worse. Don’t use inositol nicotinate if you have ulcers.

Dear Friends i am Dr. Harsha(MBBS MD DNB) ... Medical Advisor with Micro Labs. I am working on Nicovas . Nicovas is chemically Inositol Hexa Nicotinate. It releases free nicotinic acid slowly. It is a drug used for raising HDL. HDL is known as good cholesterol and it should be more than 40 in men and more than 50 in women. Nicovas gives advantage over conventional Nicotinic acid since it does not produce flushing... Since flushing is a major problem with Nicotinic acid, Nicovas provides a great advantage of no flush Nicotinic acid.. Right dose of Nicovas is 2 to 3 gram/day.. Trust me none of your patients will have flushing.. We have made two publications on clinical trials done with Nicovas.. Any one intends to know more please email me at [email protected]

Hello All,

I am looking for a treatment for high Triglycerides( TG ) levels ,over 1000.for a 19 year old patient.
The physician has prescribed Finolip 145 X 2 per day.
But the TG level does not go below 600.
I have read thath Niacin lowers TG .
My pharmasist suggseted Nicovas 500 and Nialip 375.
I read ,Nialip has many side effects.
Please extend a help-share your views/experience.

TNJ, I got my blood report 2 days ago. I am on Nicovas 500 one per day.HDL which was 35 is now 40, LDL which was 73 is now at 63.The previous test was done in the month of june'11.
The above could be the result of Nicovas. I do not take any other supplement.
Any one know about Kefir ( water or milk)crystles & how to get them

Ravi, As far i can gather from your write up, Nicovas is good for bringing down LDL but it may not take the HDL higher. For HDL there seems to be no prescribed medication.Using olive oil in the diet seems to be working for me. The HDL of mine is around 35.
I also have included swimming & playing Tennis in to my regime.
I have BP,no sugar, have a stent in the heart.
Take care
