Here's something interesting for all Zantac users

(Reuters) - CVS Health Corp said on Saturday it will discontinue sales on the popular Zantac heartburn treatment and its own generic ranitidine products from its pharmacies after traces of a known carcinogen were found in some of the products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA said earlier this month that some of the pills contained small amounts N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), which has also been found in some widely used blood pressure medicines, leading to shortages of those drugs. CVS said the move to suspend sales of the over-the-counter heartburn drug was taken out of caution while the FDA continues to review if low levels of NDMA in ranitidine - the active ingredient in Zantac - poses a health risk to patients. "Zantac brand products and CVS brand ranitidine pro...

I have been taking pantoprazole 40mg for almost 3 months now and while it helped my abdominal pain after 1 month of use the symptoms are now returning in a milder form. I experience sharp pain in my upper left side ( stomach area), gas and hunger pains that are normally relieved by eating. Lately, the discomfort can be felt on the right side slightly also and in my left side and back. What is going on? Shouldn't the medication help this? ## Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach, so it can help treat or prevent conditions such as ulcers, GERD, heartburn and gastritis. Alternatives to Carafate

I have ulcers that are not healing and my MD prescribed Carafate but I broke out with severe hives. Is there any alternative? ## Hello eleni, There are alternatives out there but it is unwise for me, or anyone on the internet, to recommend you take any type of medication especially when you had an allergic reaction to a previous brand of this type. I recommend contacting your doctor to see if they can determine what you were allergic to and see if they need to bloodwork to determine what the best route to take is next. I wish you the best of luck.
