I Take Hydrocodone Every Day But Do Not Test Positive With Urine Tests
(Newest replies first)

Updated

i had back surgery last year and i go to pain management. they prescribe me lortab 7.5 and neurontin which i take everyday. i go in once a month and have to take a urine test to prove that i am taking my meds. for the first few months i tested positive for hydrocodone. not anymore. i still take it just like i am supposed to but it doesnt show up in the test. my doctor says the only reason it would not show up is if i wasnt taking it. but i take it everyday. has this ever happened to anyone else? or does anyone know what would cause me to test negative?

It happened to me 8 weeks ago and again today! The diazepam show up but not the hydrocodone. I took last night's dosage and this morning and it came back negative. I don't see how this could happen. My trusted Drs. Gave me a wary look and refused to fill any pain meds knowing my pain issues. I requested another tear but was summarily refused. I even asked them to be in the rooms nd every

Re: terri (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

This is not correct, Terri. I have taken hydrochodone for several years for chronic neck and back pain. The last two urine tests have been negative with no changes in lifestyle.

I take Hydrocodone 10325 three times a day I sleep on average 3 to 4 hours a day my last four or five tests have come back negative I am very active because if I don't stay active my pain intensifies and becomes unbearable I have an extremely hard time laying down and going to sleep I can assure you that I do take my meds as prescribed three times a day no more no less

I know this post is old. But I am having the same problem. My doctor actually accused me of selling my medicine. I am in such pain. For over 17yrs I have had RA. I also have seizures, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, colitis. I take my meds, so why would it show up negative?

This happen to me on an er visit for something that was not related to my prescription pain medicine, they asked me what meds I take and at the time I was on 3 10/325 mg per day of Percocet and I tested negative in the er, thankfully the er doctor was knowledgeable about oxycodone half life and the drug testing threshold, He said it does happen to people with a fast metabolism. So it's not unheard of and does happen, If you get released from you doctor and find a new one discuss this with him before you sign your contract. You can also explain you would take a blood test which has a lower threshold or hair testing to invalidate a false negative if It happens.

Just went through the same thing. I had an appointment and someone i never seen before came in my room and said that my results were neg. Pissed me off because i had taken my meds before i went to visit and now im being told i have to see a pms

I am going through the same thing! I take 3-4 norcos every day, exact time if possible. Exactly as prescribed. If I feel I don't need one, I wait and usually have a few extra at the end of the month. Tested negative 2 months ago. Nothing in my system! I was shocked. Took another pee test last appt. I'll find out when I get there. I do drink a lot of liquids during the day, every day. Fast paced job, 10-12 hours a day. I don't know what is happening and i am confused and frustrated. They actually push a lot of medicine on me and i refuse and only take what I need!

I actually came to this site because the same thing is happening to me. I've tested negative twice and I take four hydrocodone 10/325mg a day (I have moderate-severe rheumatoid arthritis, bulging discs, etc). I'm baffled because in the past, it would show positive, but for my past two jobs, I've been negative. Does anyone know why?

I'm currently showing same results. My dr prescribes me 2 7.5 Norco a day taking a half 4times daily. Every since October it has only showed up twice in test. I was told today on monthly visit to not drink a lot of fluids a few days before next month's visit. I asked her what can be causing it and they r dumb founded because my Benzo' s r showing uup. Said my body could be metabolizing the loritab faster than other meds but she really doesn't know. I think like others it's a lie to cut people off. But the people in pain r the ones paying for those that abuse.

Yes it's happened to me a couple times I don't understand it my doctor said maybe you're a fast metabolizer they ordered some kind of photo test something but my insurance rejected it I don't know what's going on sometimes I run out a little early but still I should have it in me I don't know what to do but I heard that unless they are trained in doing urine test a lot of people are having trouble with the same problem so fight it all the way that you can even if you have to ask for blood to be drawn

I'm currently going through the same senerio. I wt lift and exercise daily for my fibromyalgia. I also take 2 herbal remedies and several vitamins. I drink 2L+/day. But I only take 2 Norco 7.5/325mg tabs in have tab increments. I tested negative for hydrocodone in my urine and my NP refused to fill my scripts. I've been on this for years. I finally have found a regime that works specifically for me and now since my regular doctor retired this new NP is refusing to refill it. I detoxed years ago on my own when I saw three separate doctors who put me on so many meds. They had to increase doses and add new meds frequently. I said that was enough and I was only 32! I'm now 37 and fear I'll be forced to return to this viscous cycle.

Someonewhoknows,

The drug half life is not the only factor when quantifying the metabolic break-down of a substance. There are many variables that determine how long a substance will remain in your system for the purposes of a urine drug screen IF proper protocols are adhered to in the collection and handling process false positives and negative findings are truly rare. That's not to say they are non existent but retest protocols with superior lab testing techniques primarily the use of GCMS will always test to near 100% certainty for the metabolites of said drug. Such is the reason medical providers are rarely formally contested in these matters.

It just happened to me.I have been taking 10/325 norco for 12years and today my doctor said they had to drop me cause my test showed negative for it.I have not abused in any way seen same doctors for the whole time. These urine test can not work or it would show in mine,

Toni, I feel you. It is very sad when 'physicians' lose their ability to 'care' for their patients.
I went to a 3rd recommended Dr. where I was told that it could be a metabolism issue. They sent me for a blood test but will not give me any results until my next appointment. So, I continue to stress while I wait until then. Great for anxiety, seizures, depression, pain and disease. I'll post as soon as I get an answer.
I am hoping that this will resolve the problem and I will request a letter be sent to each Dr and clinic to disprove their acussations.
Good luck.
