I am prescribed roxicodone 30mg, 4 a day. I have been suffering from chronic neck and back pain for the past 12 yrs. The pain medication works really well, but I guess my body has got immune to it and they dont seem to last as long. He doesnt want to increase the amount but they do not last the whole month. I have been obtaining a few percocets to get me through. My question is, when they drug test me to make sure I'm taking my meds, will the percocet show up the same as the roxy or should I quit taking it? I cant afford to lose my script but I also need to get out of bed and get things done. Any help would be appreciated, thanx

Percocet is the same thing as a roxicodone... Roxicodone is just stronger than a Percocet but they are the exact same medication.

Only take the medication you are prescribed and only medicate as directed. The two drugs have different opiate base so they synthesize differently in the kidneys. It all depends on the type of drug test used and the NG cut off. The opiate base in oxycotin and oxycodone are so similar it is common to have a false positive for either drug. Hydrocodone is also common to bring up a false positive for oxycotin, but not oxycodone hydrochloride. The only true way to determine which drug is which is by lab testing if you test positive it will go to a lab for further testing. Codeine will also synthesize to its purest form in the kidney which is morphine. Which making an accurate positive for morphine even if you had taken only codeine. However the lab will only test for the drugs identified on the original test. If its a standard test opiate coc meth amph marijun they will find any drug with an opiate base synthetic or not. Most test now have 10 panel that break down by the opiated base. So if you take hydrocodone and you get a positive for oxycotin they will only check for oxycotin. If its a lab initially they will only check for the drugs that should be in your system and the level. If its a multiple panel test to check for other drugs also you, will have some splaining to do. There is different chemical make up for oxycodone and Percocet even though oxycodone is the generic version. Panel test will not make a difference but lab test will

One hydrochloride and acetametaphine plus two different opiated bases chemical make up like most synthetics even though one may just be a generic form they the opiate base is still different. field panel test probably not but lab test will be able to

Oxycodone is oxycodone... Contin simply implies time released. Now MS Contin is Morphine Sulfate that is NOT oxycodone in any form. That will show different on a lab or panel test. Some misinformed people will tell you the hydrochloride (hcl) will show up different from percocets to OxyContin or roxiecodones (contins). This is bullcrap as well all oxycodones (percocets, generic percocets, oxycodone hcl roxicets ect) have hcl . Hcl or hydrochloride is a binding agent. It is found in many substances even toothpaste and diahrea medicine. So to answer ur question yes oxycodone and OxyContin and roxiecodone will all show the same. However this only applies to the old formulation of OxyContin. The new AP ( the crush proof) that has the new gel in it I'm not sure about. That new tamper proof binder might have chemicals that could show up in a lab UA. As others have mentioned most PAin clinics will test the level of medications to make sure a patient is taking the correct amount. This is to ensure a patient isn't diverting ie selling thier meds or taking more than prescribed. On a side note opiate dependence is a rough way to live. Feeling like a zombie only crankier because you didn't have enough pills to gobble up is a terrible life. This is even worse for those people who are not only dependent but addicted as well ,as this type of person usually abuses the amount of meds and must then resort to buying them off the street and then stress about UA, pill counts ect. My advice is to ween yourself down to only the prescribed amount and follow your doctors orders. If you are not receiving enough meds to live near pain free impart that to ur doctor. However a lot of addicts simply use that as an excuse to obtain more pills so they can stay high longer and more often. A good way to insure you never run out is to use what I call the "every other day" approach. Every other day only take half of what you are prescribed. Then you have the option of the next day using a little extra or just using the prescribed amount and having some extra for a rainy day. This method still allows a person to enjoy a buzz without the added stress of cutting every day down to just getting by.

This exact same thing happened to me. I take Oxycodone and Oxycontin for severe nerve damage and one of my pee tests a few months back came back as positive for morphine. They asked if I had taken any other medications and I told them I had not and I was concerned about the test. I have been with this Doctor for more than 2 years and this is the first time this had happened. Anyway, their policy is that I needed to take another test right there and then, so I did and the test came back fine. I was still upset about it because that is how I am, but they chalked it up to a false positive.

If I am prescribed Percocet and take a few of my girl friends roxy 30 because the Percocet just aren't doing it will they come back different on a 10 panel test for random at work? It was sent to the lab and they contacted me and said it was positive for oxycodone. I told them I had a script and faxed it to them waiting to hear back. Anyway it's been 7 days or so since I taken a perc and I took a roxy the night before the test. Will my Percocet script save my butt?

It will both show up, as Oxy on a Urine screen. I'm prescribed Oxycodone 30mg and also Percocet 10mg, for break through pain and they both show up, as Oxy. In the past I was on Hydrocodone, for breakthrough, which shows up as Hydrocodone, on a Urine Screen.
