Re: Rich (# 333) Expand Referenced Message

I got the 2 mg bars for a few years. I broke them in half and wound up having an extra 3 years worth of Xanax, still do. Xanax is basically a poison, and taking a larger dose is not suggested. My former Doc had just doubled me to 100 a month, and since then lost his license

I'm so sad that you have to suffer this agony and I can totally empathize.

I was exposed to heavy duty neurotoxins via black mold and began having extreme heart palpitations and adrenal insufficiency which would end up with a 911 call and ambulance ride to an ER. All kinds of tests, but no apparent answers, until I found an alternative health practitioner called a Functional medicine provider who also happened to be an ER doctor. One of the few in Michigan that treated patients like me with so much nervous system damage due to the poisons my body had absorbed in the 3 years of living in a horrible environment that the landlord refused to address.

After finally relocating, into a healthy home, I began researching and finding professionals who could offer me tools for healing from all the damage, including major anxiety attacks. Sometimes those attacks hit me non-stop to the point I prayed to die. I unfortunately was treated with IVs of dilaudid, morphine, and steroids in the hospital, which only caused complications.

I had taken high doses of gabapentin along with Tramadol and like you, all kinds of anti-depressants drugs (even though I kept insisting this was a mechanical problem, not a mental or emotional one). The only relief I got was from Ativan, which was a godsend, and eventually a commitment to weekly acupuncture treatments which quickly restored and rejuvenated my whole being. My vision was also badly distorted from the Gabapentin, but once I was cleansed of all those miserable medications, light sensitivity reduced and clarity revived.

I went back to my alternative doc for IV treatments of EDTA to remove all heavy metal deposits in my body and the relief I got from that was miraculous. He offered a suggestion that I transfer over to 2 mgs daily of Valium when needed instead of the ativan because it has a longer half life and better drug for my type of anxiety issue. I have successfully used it for 4 years now and have reduced the dosage to 1/2 tab at night to help me sleep. Daytime attacks are rate and very manageable, partly because I learned how to breathe through them, distract myself and also Meditate every single day. Even 5 minutes of sitting quietly and just focusing on your breath results in a calmer and more balanced nervous system.

I am 69 years old and doctors do not want older patients using any of the benzos, period. I am fortunate enough to have a supportive doctor, but I also know I can't stay on them forever, so I'm weaning off at a very very gentle and slow pace. I totally understand the battle you are going through, but you do have choices other than pills to address this disorder. The issue with doctors is they over prescribe ineffective medications that often have the same side effects as the issues they are being prescribed for.

I was a pharmacy tech for many years and learned so much about the prescription industry, that I became cynical and quit to because a holistic practitioner in order to offer safer more natural methods of self-regulation and lifestyle changes to promote well-being.

At this point in my life, due to some previous serious physical injuries, I am enrolled in a pain management program where I use off label buprenophrine/naloxone for chronic pain of my spinal nerves. My doctor was reticent to prescribe it, because of the contraindications of benzos, but I proved knowledgeable and responsible enough for my own care, so he agreed to allow my alternative doc to continue his treatment because he understands and respects what people like us go through when dealing with the trauma of whatever triggers Anxiety attacks and has the wisdom to know a person who feels secure and respected often times responds better to protocols targeting those chronic issues.

Once I was accepted as his patient but allowed to continue on the Valium, my stress levels reduced enough that pain levels reduced as well.. I know you feel like you are in hell at this point, but don't give up, and hopefully you can find exactly the compassionate physician who will hear you and attend to your needs without complicating it with unwanted advice or unnecessary treatment. Simple is better, because the body has an Immense capacity to heal itself given the correct combination of support to address body mind and spirit. I know, because I am one of those people.

Best of luck and Blessings for a healthier future

Re: Leef (# 318) Expand Referenced Message

I've got to say, Buspar gives you that dizzy, headache, sick like feeling, nothing arousing about that? Have you tried Trazodone? I only ask because it is/was used for depression/anxiety, and was known to cause arousal, that they warn you
