Chantix And Ovary Pain? (Top voted first)

Updated

I took Chantix for 12 days. On day 9 I was tempted to quit, as the nausea was awful. Finally (accidentally) found that taking the pill with juice instead of water gave me almost no nausea, so kept going a couple days. The reason I quit taking Chantix is because my ovaries started feeling like they were getting ripped out when I was on my period and again when I ovulated. This scared me as to what it was DOING to my ovaries, as we intended to get pregnant after I quit smoking. I'm 35 and have a history of spontaneous miscarriages. Have any of you other gals had this issue? Or is it just me?

I have had the exact same issue. I had the worst ovary pains and never experienced anything like this prior to Chantix.

"Nausea occurs commonly in people taking varenicline. Other less common side effects include headache, difficulty sleeping, and abnormal dreams. Rare side effects reported by people taking varenicline compared to placebo include change in taste, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, and constipation. In May 2008, Pfizer updated the safety information associated with Chantix, noting that 'some patients have reported changes in behavior, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions.' "

I have been on Chantix for 4 months and completely stopped smoking. However, about one month into taking this medication I noticed swellling in my right lower abdomen. Since I started taking Chantix I started exercising and eating better and I lost 15 lbs. The swelling appeared as I lost weight. I had no pain up until 2 weeks ago. It seems to get worse and worse as days go by.

finally ...there are others. ok ladies lets see if we are all on the same path. i took chantix for 1 month. i came off of it because i had the nausea and headaches instantly which worsened as time went on and by the second week i could bearly get out of bed in fact if i wasnt going to work i would only manage about 39 mins. a day out of bed. by week 4 i was a total zombie my room mate said i look like walking dead. that was the last day i took a pill over the next couple of weeks i felt more alive but then i started having lower back and abdominal pain. i went to the doctor thinking i had a kidney infection. i was diagnosised with a slight uti and given antibiotics after a week i felt better buit that only lasted about a week. so needless to say this went on for months some test showing slight infection and other were negative. in all i was on antibiotic for 6 months. during this time i aquired an exciting new symptom. i started going in to labor is the only way i can explain it. i am now 41 and i have had two children both natural meaning vagnal and no drugs. this pain feels exactly like that to me but even worse my overys hurt my back hurts my bladder and what i can only figure is my tubes also hurt. sometimes i experiance random sharp pains and sometimes its a constant ache and tenderness feeling but from the inside. anyway i had gone to the to get the chantix because my company was making me quit by becoming tobacco free and i work 12 and a 1/2 hour shifts.or i could find another job. anyway i had a complete exam as this was a new patient visit i had just turned 39 and figured i needed to establish a primary care dr. i was given a clean bill of health and all my labs came back normal. so back to the kidney infection turns out even with the negative test results i did have a kidney infection . my room mate came home to find me uncontous on my bedroom floor and took me to the ER where they found an infestion so bad that there was a pocket of pus on my right kidney. i have been to 3 gyn speacialist and a gastro dr. even having exploritory suyrgery once and they can find nothing wrong and all test come back normal yet it seems as if it just getting worseall of this just happens randomly there is no cycle to it and it seems to be becoming more often. so as if that wasnt enough i also am mentally foggy alot and my short term memory is shot which im sure you can tell by trying to read all of my misspelled wors.lol trying to keep a since of humor about it all. i have gained 25 pounds and have no desire to do anything. not sure if i got everything in this but like i said memory is shot. if anyone out there has experienced this or knows some one who could help please email me thanks

I took Chantix Oct. '06 thru Oct. '07. Two scripts, two hospital stays in '08.

Jan. '08 - - taken by ambulance in middle of nite w/horrific chest pains and stomach spasms so strong they felt like contractions! At 55, figured that was highly unlikely. Remember wishing I could just pass out...the pain was beyond blinding! Kept a week, put on oxygen, morphine drip and antibiotics while extensive testing was done. Diagnosis - - possible virus.

May '08 - - had great day at work as usual...daughter called when I got home, said, "mom, what's wrong? People are talking..." laughed, picked up keys, took long drive to rural area, singing to oldies, picked up 3 bottles of sleeping pills and razors along the way, found a closed, used car parking lot, parked on angle to blend in. Woke up six days later...when being taken off ventilator...surrounded by devastated family...wanting answers. I had none.

After spending time in psyche unit, leave from work, waiving driving privileges, babysitting my 6 precious grandchildren rites were yanked...have endured the past three years in/out of inpatient/outpatient therapy, counseling and groveling DESPERATELY to those closest to me...for forgiveness. This has been one, devastating, unnerving, embarassing, humiliating chapter in my life. One I can never un-do or take back.

I know for a fact that Chantix put me in a different place. My mind was so distorted, I decided it was funny and stupid to continue on...working...paying bills...worrying...just wanted to chuck it all...throw myself away...and let the other fools stay. I was not sad, mad, glad,...nothing....just tired. Tired of living.

I took Chantix w/hopes of quitting my 2-3 cig per day habit. Was excited when overheard pharmacist raving to co-worker about this new, miracle drug.

True, it DID take away the pleasure of smoking...but, it didn't stop there. Once in my system, it slowly, thoroughly, worked/routed its way to the inner most/deepest part of my brain....and completely overtook my way of thinking. I'm not lying. I have no reason to lie. Only God knows how/you'll land, once this is in your bloodstream. I mean it. It's real...

OMG-I am having the same problem! And this is only after 1 month of treatment and not on a regular basis. I quit Chantix 3 dyas ago. I wish I would have never started it. I have never felt worse in my entire life. I have never had a health issue until the last couple of weeks. Back pain, stomach pains, leg pains, no desire to do anything but lay around. So not me-I am the type of person who never sits. This is horrible. Am afraid to go to the Dr. for fear of what damage that stupid pill may have caused.

This is my 2nd time on Chantix, only been back on for 2 weeks and have been experiencing BAD lower abdominal pains, as if I was having contractions every 20 minutes, so BAD that I am doubled over in pain, also have headaches, vivid dreams and depression. I have stopped taking Chantix and hope my stomach pains ease up! Not worth it!
