Updated

I need ppl who have tried the new Xtampza er med to tell me if it works the same as oxycontin? I need to switch so I wanted to know the strength of the new med in comparison.

I am on the 27mg and they have worked great, it took about 3 days to get into my system. After that no problems felt great and and could function without feeling high or tired. I've even noticed when I run out of my Dilaudid for break through pain I'm not feeling the WD symptoms like the other meds I was on! So it's allowed me to cut back on them unless I really need them.

Best of luck.

I was on 3 30 mg OxyContin for 8 yrs until my Insurance co started charging $400 copay so Dr put me on 36 mg Xtampza 2 times every 12 hours I just started on Oct 3rd. First, it takes about 2hours to activate and does not last 12 hours. The pain relief is similar to the oxy I hope they will give me break thru meds next month, then I think it will be ok. The Xtampza also cost me nothing.

My insurance co. forced me to switch to xtampza. I opened a pill to taste the powder and it had no taste at all. I believe it should be bitter. I think it's fake. I'm gonna get a u/a to check it, unless somebody knows what it should taste like or knows a better way to check it?

Some ppl simply can't handle pain of any kind, always looking for something to cry about. I think the word is "hypochondriac," and all the crying i's typical snowflake behavior. I think they just want ppl to feel sorry for them, so they can achieve a higher victim status.
So before ant of the crybabies here start wandering, I have 4 ruptured discs in L-section of my back, 2 of which have completely disentegrated and don't shoe up on a CT scan. Also have 2 dics's in my neck that are bulging from 9 years of football. I have 2 broken stainless steel screws in my right leg, arthritis and neuropathy in both legs. Severe osteoarthritis in my lower back, as described by a licensed radiologist. I tooknow opana 30mg 3 times a day, with oxygen
10-325 4 for break through pain. I was switched to Embeda 60mg 2 times a day, because as of now opana will be pulled from the market, and you can Google that, I was also given morphine 15mg 3 times daily to takw with the morphine. Embeda and morphine IR are a joke, mild relief. But after anext alergic reaction to it I was pulled of morphine. I forced myself to only take Oxy 10-325 4 times daily for a month. Yes, it was hell for 7 days. But in return I lowered my tolerance, and was put on the xtampza 27mg about 4 days ago. And I'm having just about 75% of about what the opana gave me. The main thing is you should be optimistic about how and what you take. I watche'd so many people die, OD, and go to jail because they were addicted to fentanyl, oxycontin, oxycodone, etc,, I can't write laws, or implement them. So I do what I can, and I'm not gonna ruin someone else's day or life because I think I need 200mgs of opioids a day. This is the way it's gonna be from here on out. I don't like either but I'm not gonna cry about it. I told my pain clinic today, what you see on tv, and read about on the Internet about pain med's is NOT what goes on with me, or in my house. So don't confuse me with them. I've been going there for almost 5 years. And if they shut the down all the pain click Monday then I would learn to live without. Because I went from 2000, till 2012 withave no meds. I didn't like it, but I had to make money, and pay bills. I done commercial and residential ceramic tile, and hardwood floors. So nothing easy. All I see on the Internet is ppl so upset that they didn't get their way at the pain clinic. And that's the reason why things are like they are concerning pain meds. Suck it up, most of it is physchosamatic, maybe you should try tramnadol. But I will never let my frame of mind be so completely negative about my situation, it only makes the pain worse.
