I am looking for information about neurontin giving false positive results on standard urine drug testing. Does anyone have information suggesting that it does? Thanks.

I was being treated with Gabapentin (generic neurontin) and Norco (hydrocodone) for a back injury sustained from a Motor Vehicle accident for less than three weeks. I was tested for other drug use, and I had not used anything other than what I was prescribed, and my urine came up positive for Benzos (Xanax, Valium)! I now am giong around in circles and jumping through hoops to keep my Professional Liscense! This happened less than two weeks ago. Hope you have better luck.

In Dec. 04 I was tested while on this drug and I tested positive for MJ, and I have NEVER ONCE somed MJ! I would tell them you are taking this drug for your own safe peace of mind, I was rejected due to this AND DROPPED FROM MY OWN MD!!!

I have been on nuerontin before awhile back and i have to have rendom drugs tests and everytime i tested positive for benzos.Then I stopped taking it then I tested false.Now Im back on nuerontin and the benzos are back.I was told it and any antiseizure meds will cause a false postive.But I need proof of this so I don't lose my kids I dont take zanax or valiums.Please help

For custody reasons I have 4-5 random UA's a month and recently tested positive for opiates. The facility that administers the tests contacted the lab (Redwood Toxicology) and was told that Gabapentin can cause a false positive. I have taken it on and off for about three years as a sleep aid originally prescribed at the re-hab I was in and it has only shown up as a false positive once and I am now on a much lower dose so I'm not sure why now.

My wife and I are nurse's she hurt her neck started having multiple problems they have her on nuerontin and norco getting ready for surgury we went to our family Dr today to up her meds as she can barely function r/t pain she tested positive thc I thought they we're joking we laughed then realized they where serious. They tried to refuse her refill. She has never in her life touched any drugs. I demanded retake stupid MA acused her trying to delute her urine I work ER 20years almost impossible delute thc they had to call security by time we left they wouldn't listen and looked at her like she was a loser and refered us to another Dr unbelievable.

To everyone reporting false positives on urine or swab drug screenings, if you've not taken the drug showing the false pos why would you not stand your ground demand a blood or hair stand test? Folks give false positives every day. It's very common .

This just happened to me at my suboxone doctor! I tested positive for Marijuana and perc, oxy and I have not done any of them but I am on nuerotin. Now they are making me go every week because their test was wrong! Instants give false positives all the time if your on other medications that's why I hate them÷

I know this post is old, however, I'll answer it anyways, in hopes that it could be if use to others. Especially if it was only traces, it very well, could be that you are diabetic, or borderline diabetic & your body is converting sugar to alcohol. This is a common occurrence actually.

Ativan wouldn't show up on a drug screen...where did you get that detailed of a drug screen? It would show up as Benzodiazepine like xannax or other benzos..just like oxycodone or hydrocodone..it don't tell the Dr. That you took a Percocet or an oxycotin it just reads oxycodone, or if you took a vicodin or Norco it just reads hydrocodone, that's the basic drug screens..so I'm wondering where did you get the specific reading of a Ativan on a basic drug screen it should just read on the screen Benzodiazepine.

Saw on the news awhile back that doctors (surgeons) don't have to take drug screens. When asked why, representative said because they are not 100% accurate, and why should a surgeon , who went to college for 6yrs, lose his job over a test that's not accurate. But who calls you if you fail,...doctors. and what makes his job more important to him than my job is to me?
