Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

From reading this thread, I may just stick with the depression... sounds more fun. Gheesh

I feel your pain. This s*** is POISON! I started taking it mid-August 2014. Within 2 weeks i started to develop a rash around my mouth. Went back into my doctor, he prescribed a steroid cream & called it eczema. Throughout the fall the rash persisted. Went back to dr and told him i suspected the viibryd was causing it. Naturally he didn't agree. 3 weeks ago i realized that the rash would subside somewhat at night and not be as inflamed in the mornings when i got up, but about 3 hours after taking the Viibryd my face would be on fire. Stopped taking it cold turkey when i realized that it was triggering somewhat of an allergic reaction. Fully aware of the warnings not to stop suddenly and i certainly don't recommend it, but i simply could not make myself consume one more of those pills of poison. Withdrawals didn't hit too bad until about 72 hours after taking it the last time. Then the s*** hit the fan. I've never been so sick physically, mentally and emotionally. Physically devastating, nausea, vertigo, headache, loss of motor skills and the worst flashes of psychotic twisted pictures in my head. Seriously, things that i've never seen before. Kept telling myself that this is a chemical reaction that will pass. This poison has triggered a major inflammatory response flareup in my body. Any kind of smells, soaps, irritant of any kind makes my whole body respond with a heated "flush", and racing heart. No "medicine" or "cure" should be this physically devastating from NOT taking it.

the reason I stopped this medication was that after 6 weeks, not a great response, but ok.enough response. One morning I woke up in a thrash....had not had a panic attack in 30 years. I cut down week by week and went back to cymbalta. You're symptoms sound like you need either cymbalta or maybe...wellbutrin. The best ever for me and many others was Nefazadone....some liver problems (miniscule) going on with it so generic is only available. (stupidly banned in Europe...read up on it as its available) I might try it again.

Oldman, thank you so much for the lengthy and fully thought out, sensitive reply. I am in a very tough spot, as I am in grad school, newly married, and also have a (benign) brain tumor, and fertility issues that mean I only have a span of a couple years to conceive and have children. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to have my eggs frozen, which would be the best possible solution.

I just know that pregnancy messes with hormones so badly that it can turn any sane woman incredibly unstable. A friend of my mothers got pregnant, and became suicidally depressed, to the point where she had to have her mother with her at all times because of the suicidal ideations, she had no previous history of depression, and after she had the baby she did a 180 and experienced absolutely no post partum depression or mental health issues whatsoever after the birth of the baby.

The added hormone issues with pregnancy scare me, as well as the possibility of post partum depression, especially since the chance of it hitting a woman who has a history of depression is so much greater.

I am not 100% stuck on Viibryd for an antidepressant, I just wonder in general which is better, the stress of depression or the effects of medication on the unborn baby (and in breast milk, as ideally I would like to breastfeed) I wish I had more time to level out and be closer to feeling better before having to make these decisions, but due to the fertility reasons I am forced to make the decision to either have kids or forgo parenting altogether in the near future, and because I have dreamt of being a mother my whole life, I don't even see the latter as an option.

Thanks again oldman, I really appreciate the wealth of wisdom and perspective you have given me, and it gives me more to think about.

Dear fellow Viibryd researchers, takers, or survivors...

I have been following a few Vii threads since I googled Vii & sleep paralysis. I've found that these threads are easier to follow, because of the email alerts. I went thru hell while on the med. & the discontinuation symptoms are serious. I hope Forest Labs is one day investigated for their products.

To anyone out there on Vii...I'd love to hear your + or - feedback on the drug! Last I heard was that they've discovered (per Dr) that the drug is causing part of the brain to wake up during sleep. I do not have exact medical terms for you, but Forest Labs & the FDA are well aware of this "problem" w/ the drug. So take at your own risk. I suffer from PTSD just thinking about Vii. But I am a fighter in many ways, & still speaking out! :)

I have just discovered that all the SSRI's & SNRI's are a waste if time to me. I do better w/ 150 mg. Wellbutrin (taken at nite), 1-2 (.25 Xanax) a few x's/wk, & then 5mg. of Ambien for insomnia.

Bottom line is I don't need a mood stabilizer (other than PMS times--which SSRI's work nicely) but I do appreciate the SSRI's, etc, that help w/ anxiety.

Viibryd made me gain 30lbs., sleep paralysis....
Prozac eventually caused tremors, kills libido, hardly worked
Cymbalta caused more wt. gain, exc. w/ GAD, but too sleepy, also killed libido...
Lexapro...kills libido/yet visual (weird), & stopped due to being so exhausted from the nonsense vivid nightmares!

Rather freaked out by any AD med. at the moment. It has been so long since I've had a break from them & skipped the 20 mg. Prozac last nite, in weaning process (had to take to wean off of combo CYM. & Lex. withdrawals (I had NONE...weird!!! Because Viibryd was HeLL!!!!) and anyway, I felt like I could SPEAK normally today. Lexapro has a way of almost altering personalities.

So Monty....perhaps you also need a break. Vii at 20 mg/ for me was nothing. Then 40 was obviously too much w/ the sleep disturbances.

Also. If you've found your libido is high for the 1st mo. on Vii, & then it drops off, you're not alone. That's common w Vii. I swear they lace it w/ Viagra & reel people in on the drug because they feel like a porn star the 1st mo. Hahahaha Then the libido is uncontrollably dropped like a bad habit.

Sneaky little coinkidink with the name, eh. Viibryd/Viagra.

Ready to start slamming the pharm. co's for screwing w/ so many people. Just need to get my hands on a few books. Until then, still staying somewhat on course, will be seeing my Dr/ soon enough to proudly tell him that Lex. was a big NO for me.

I have taken about a dozen various run of the mill anti-depressants over the years. Maybe some minimal side effects, but I honestly hardly even noticed them. My one month experience with Viibryd has been a nightmare. This med is AWFUL.

Amanda, get off of the Viibyrd! I started to take that drug (from the VAMC) back in July 2014 and it induced lupus. Private doctor ran diagnostics (sept 2014) and proved that the lupus was caused by Viibyrd.

If I were to pick a stellar anxiety removing AD, drum roll, it would be Cymbalta. Reason being, it really works well for GAD. But for some weird reason, I began to feel depressed on the CYM (after 8 mos?)

It "was" labeled for depression, but it works poorly in that category, works perfectly for anxiety (you will love the sleep, but people around you won't...lol) & surprisingly helped my allergies & erased much of my back & neck pain. My neck is back to feeling tight all over again 3? wks. off cym. It didn't help my feet pain neuropathy, as it's advertised for, but that could be because mine is from a toxic nerve damage, vs. the neuropathy that diabetics experience.

Lastly, Effexor & Viibryd are similar (per neuro). She was so mad when showing me the similar names, as if she was upset that drug co. tweak chemicals this way & that & stick a new name on it.

I see AD's in a whole new light after trying Lexapro. What an artificial feeling that drug gave me. By day 3, I felt tremendous, but then too many pockets of not feeling covered by any AD while on Lex. Def. not a long acting AD.

Thanks, and keep me updated on how you feel. I take Welbutrin and am adding this med. Used to take Lexapro with the Welbutrin, but it just make me feel like nothing, so I got off it. Hopefull, and from what I have read, this is a lot better!!

Yeah Edna...oh my... No cold turkey!!! I know you don't want to go thru more trauma on Vii, but you have to step down slowly. Ask Dr....but Prozac was my answer in getting off Vii.

So last nite I hit the HOME section & couldn't believe there were 2 suicidal messages & glanced at one where someone wanted to pay cash for Oxy. Sigh. Never getting roped into suicidal posts again. The lady barely speaks English & how do I go about removing myself from that conversation so I stop getting replies from her on that thread?

Regarding 'oldman' suicidal ideation... :( it's really frustrating to hear anyone talk about feeling suicidal. I have so much anxiety because my past cancer. I just want to live. And have witnessed it all. Aside from smelling salts, suicidal thoughts are selfish & cruel & maybe anyone who has obsessive thoughts about suicide needs to experience actually being told that you're dying. Go shopping for caskets. Ask to see the cremation process. YouTube it. Whatever you gotta do to get ahold of yourself.

Serenity now! Lol
