Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.

While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.

My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.

If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.

Richard relax partner. I've been through the cold turkey stuff myself. I think you read more into what I said. I've been reading your story for many years. I'm trying to tell you we get it. It's ruffled some feathers as you've said yourself. If you go back few years you'll see what Henry has told you. Though I don't agree with his placebo theory. Thing is Richard you are blessed that you don't have any troubles with any of the brands you've been on. But I believe you are off on telling the rest of us it's all in our heads. You're right about anxiety. But the truth is many of us are having our anxiety levels increased by these inadequate generics. This medication is given to relieve us from it for the most part. Once upon a time brand name Ativan kept me calm all day long. These generic companies took that away from a lot of us. I hope you can wrap that around your brain. My spouse would tell you to the blind test I've done is like night and day for me and others. You can't fake that stuff. Y'all take care.

Hi,

Can you tell me what issues you had when changing? And what dose and how long you have been on? I just had to switch from Watson/Actavis to Teva, and I have been having awful symptoms. I am very tolerant because I have taken 3 mg per day for almost 30 years--since childhood. I'm already on edge normally but with mental anxiety not physical. This has thrown me into what feels like physical withdrawal. I've had high blood pressure, pulse, not slept, and stopped eating. My mind feels just --I can't describe it--not "covered" like there is something missing--the Ativan, I would guess. When I take it, I feel it work to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms for a very short time and in a very minimal way. My mind is too shaken to think clearly and for very long. I can only write this right after taking the dose. Normally I can write long, creative writing and do normal things. And now I've taken to bed just waiting this out. Normally when I took the Ativan before I didn't notice a difference before or after doses--it was a steady state. This has definitely thrown me into a withdrawal--to the point I had my psychiatrist call in an atypical antipsychotic to try to calm down the agitation. I took the brand name before, which was OK but not as good as Watson (though none were as good as Mylan or Qualitest), but I don't think my insurance will pay for it anymore. I don't know how this could all be in my head, some of it I could see, but not all of the physical symptoms. I don't feel like myself at all. Even right after a dose I'd say I only feel the very edge taken off of these new symptoms. It's very scary knowing this isn't being made anymore. I didn't go into this expecting problems, as I take another med from Teva made at the same plant in the Czech Republic so I thought it would be OK.

No sorry, no lot number on my bottles or on my little paper on the bag, it just says teva usa. i do have the ndc number 0093-3425-05 if that helps.... and ya sorry to hear that about your Doctor ..... 98 percent are clueless about tolerance, withdrawal, or even how to taper a patient off....... Ashton Manual is the way to go. No more than 10 percent of your dose should be cut per month, that's a minimum. Taper of 10 months but you can go slower..... there is direct taper, cross taper, and liquid titration tapers as well. Dr Ashton was all about the cross over taper to Valium because it has the longest half life ... so not intermittent withdrawals to deal with .... Plus there's all the peripheral benzo receptors all over our entire body with makes the withdrawal like living through being tortured 24/7 for months of even years.... The peripheral receptors are on our lung, heart, kidneys, stomach, blood vessels, immune system, and even the cells' energy supply called mitochondria.

I was prescribed Leading brand. Does not work. Like taking a sugar pill. I am taking 1mg Teva nothing but fall asleep. Does not take away anxiety. I was taking Watson and it worked great. They are now Allergen in Ireland. Sigh.

Re: Jibbs55 (# 351) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you.

That describes exactly what I'm having with the current "brand"--that it is not lasting long enough for three doses a day. I'm having not just anxiety but actual physiologic withdrawal 5-6 hours after each dose. I think my situation is bad because I've been on it since I was 14 and I'm almost 40. I already have tolerance so when I switch brands and it doesn't quite measure up the effects are severe. When i take the dose I'm my normal self for a while, and when it washes out I have such bad symptoms that feel neurological--I can't even type or do anything involving thinking and start to lose control of my hands to where it's difficult to even take the next tablet. It's very scary. Unfortunately my psychiatrist regards it as anxiety and hasn't seen me in these states, but it's definitely withdrawal. Been trying to find someone to prescribe gabapentin to help me get off this stuff but no one wants to. I've read it can help with tapering. I will try aurobindo in the mean time. I stopped that after trying it once only because I had an allergic reaction, but as crazy as this sounds I think it had more to do with the pharmacy I was filling it at where the pills tasted and smelled like perfume due to them doing essential oil mixing where they filled the bottles.

I really wish there were some organization that could study all the current brands on the market. I don't think these pills get tested after their initial approval which was back in the 1970s. Maybe there is something unique about lorazepam that make it more or less stable. Zantac (the heart burn drug) had been around forever and was only recently discovered to be an unstable molecule when stored too long or at too high of heat--and it was discovered by a private company (Valisure), not the FDA or manufacturer. I've asked them to investigate lorazapem, but never heard back.

I did a FOIA request to the FDA on the Teva ANDA which I finally received because Teva wouldn't release their bioequivalence data to me, and it has not been tested to compare it to the originator drug (Wyeth) since 1988 according to what the FDA sent me. Their current ANDA is based on Royce Laboratories, which obviously no longer exists, and from what I can tell the current drug is approved on the basis of that approval despite manufacturing site and ingredient changes. I think the drug supply in general is poorly regulated, but you can notice it much more clinically when it comes to neurological agents like benzos, whereas if blood pressure is up or down a little bit from variation in a BP med you don't notice it.

While this "brand" is working it seems to work fine, but it has a very sudden drop off effect. My PCP even offered to do a blood test to see what my blood level is of it to make sure I'm absorbing it correctly, but you're supposed to measure the trough level (before the first dose of the day), and the way I am now I couldn't make it to the doctor before the first dose. That was not the case before. When I get in these bad states, I have to just turn off all the lights and wait for the medicine to kick in.

Re: Marcus (# 353) Expand Referenced Message

I've only had one Pdoc that actually said that many generics aren't worth the money they put into them.

Most of the docs I've had in the past 15 years are what I call the cookie cutters. Most of them read the data and they go with that even if it's off.

It amazes me men and women with above average minds can allow themselves to feed us the lines they do.

Leading/Major does to me what you've spoke about in your post. I've told my spouse it's like being in withdrawals 24/7 on those two along with Teva, Watson and Actavis. Sandoz was pretty good but not great for me. Actavis was the worst.

Mylan, Aurobindo and the original brand has work the best in my case.

What you are experiencing is what I did when Biovail took over. And all the ones I've listed above. You feel like you completely in withdrawals. The dump off effect is just as you said.

My doctor will prescribe gabapentin. I may just try it again to see if it helps with the withdrawals. They do prescribe gabapentin for anxiety as well beside just helping to you detox off from benzos.

My sibling and daughter take it with Klonopin. Seems to help them. My only concern is being on another medication.

Makes my heart hurt reading your post along with others out here. Just isn't right what we've got to cope with to live our life's.

Yes folks the withdrawals were feeling are nowhere near being completely off. But it's still a miserable feeling that can ruin your day, month and so on.

I've tried many other benzos over the years with no help. Valium work really well but for me just doesn't last long at all. That's even with the original brand. But I have never liked the high feeling I've experience with it. Very calming but way to calm for me.

Xanax work pretty well but also didn't last long for me. Plus it gave me horrific headaches. That's when lorazepam came into my life.

I'd be a bit concerned if Aurobindo gave you problems. I think I read your post awhile back it gave you swallowing problems right. Not sure I'd want to experience that again.

Really appreciated all the feedback and what you've been experiencing. Cause I've got the same struggle as you. Not everyone but quite a few similar problems.

Okay folks it's late here I'll rap with y'all again. Hang in y'all.

Re: Larry (# 362) Expand Referenced Message

Aurobindo whatever active ingredient works pretty well with myself as I've spoke about. Only thing I can say is the fillers or the amount of active ingredient works in my body well. I've been stuck on Leading cause my folks I deal with would rather see me suffer then order it. But that's the government for you. Maybe you can do what Henry has said. For myself I don't have pvt insurance. Us Vets get stuck with the bottom of the barrel. Hope you'll find what works best for you. Peace guys!

Sandoz did it in 2014. And tried to tell people it's the same product. It went from a good medication to pure garbage. Took awhile but Sandoz finally shut down to make a new version which turned out to be just as bad

As a side - Aurobindo still showing out of stock all strengths. Too reminiscent of how Mylan disappeared in 2018. I think it's a goner

Re: Larry (# 394) Expand Referenced Message

Only thing I can figure is a different plant was producing it. Cause it was tons more tolerable then it is now. But the answer is no Larry. Don't have any clue why but I had like 3 fills and I was doing well. Hoping Aurobindo comes back and my base or VA picks it back up. But I'm thinking they are through making lorazepam. Seen this deal too many times. But Aurobindo worked very well for me. Like night and day switching from Leading to Aurobindo. Wish y'all the best!

I have a few questions about Teva. Does anyone know who the original pharmaceutical company was that made it and has it changed hands over the years. Did any of you experience it working ok at one time and has it changed formula wise and who makes it now if it did. I've never taken Teva that I know of. Wondering what it did/does to any of you that might have been on it. Is it better then Leading brand. My pharmacy gave me a heads up they've changed brands again. Does one strength work better than the other. Appreciate any feedback.

I can say Teva is total trash. For me it's the worst form of lorazepam I've ever taken. About the only thing I can say nice about Teva is it's keeping me from going into withdrawals. I've taken every generic form of lorazepam and Teva tops the worst of all. I'm starting to think that they are dumbing down benzodiazepines so we'll have to come off from them..How any pharmacy or pharmacist would sell any of these meds boggles my mind. Never thought I'd say this but at least Leading brand isn't anywhere near how bad Teva is for me. Seems like most of us are seeing one maker replacing another between 6 months to a year. Be nice if Brand Ativan was available in it's original form as well as Mylan or Aurobindo. Which now many of you are saying it's trash as well. Yes I'm on Teva as I'm writing this. Will be till this script runs out. This too shall pass.

Re: Jibbs (# 506) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Jibbs!
Yeah, I currently have no plans to continue any meds after finishing this taper. I’m burned out on western medicine: former docs tried to get me on bp meds for years had bad reactions to all, as well as numerous SSRIs and other antidepressants off label for anxiety and panic attacks. Had severe migraines daily for over a decade. Doc handed out strongest opioids like candy took them for 10 years quit all CT. Doc had me on up to like 8 meds at once. Only med I take are benzos. I cannot handle any generic lorazepam; worsened my anxiety and had allergic reactions and so I had no choice but to begin this process of tapering. Have at least 25-30 skin lesions look like chicken pox now, withdrawal has been fatigue, nausea, depersonalization/dissociation, headaches, neck and pain stiffness and pain, benzo belly, agoraphobia, social anxiety, avoidant personality, depression, anger, hatred, regret, meltdowns, etc. and the symptoms keep changing form. This is making cold turkey from opiates look like a piece of cake.

Re: Henry (# 514) Expand Referenced Message

My doc told me all benzos affect the body differently and even affect benzo receptors differently. I, in effect, with the rapid taper off of lorazepam, experienced a pretty close equivalent of CT from lorazepam while the diazepam built up in my body I order to mitigate and or prevent the horrific side effects of CT. The fact that I’ve taken them for close to 20 years and then abruptly stopping even with the substitution of diazepam does not make the withdrawal effects disappear, but simply I experience them slower and supposedly less intense. But, the first few month were brutal. I posted an explanation that is really informative but it hasn’t yet posted; I’m submitted it for posting about 12 hours ago; I really think it explains things so well. I hope it posts soon.

Re: Edward (# 516) Expand Referenced Message

I see it post #509. Im really surprised the diazepam isn’t significantly reducing the withdrawal symptoms.

Another thing you could try is Clonazepam wafers. They make them as low as 0.125mg which is equivalent to 2MG diazepam plus they’re bigger than the pills so easy to break in half 0.0625mg (1MG diazepam) or maybe even break them smaller if necessary. You’re going through some serious hell with that taper.

I honestly don't see a difference in Leading or Teva. They both work about the same for me. (Which isn't saying much) Aurobindo was the second best from Mylan. Try detoxing off Leading or Teva. It's a barrel of monkeys. Y'all would know your in true withdrawals if they actually gave you a sugar pill. You can take that to the bank. We all know by now it's the fillers and our body chemistry that makes one better than the other. I personally do not believe it's in our heads. For me Valium does not work very long at all. It may remain in your system longer but it's only a short lived relief of anxiety with me. Still trying to get over my pdocs logic. That nobody needs to be on a benzo. Yah sure. I looked up all the meds he'd like to retry me on and they have the same concern for any age doing damage to our internal organs along with dementia. This is the lie they will tell you folks. You ever wonder what our doctors take for medication to keep them calm down? I've read quite a few articles of doctors and nurses taking the same meds we're on. Don't do as I do, do as I say. Yup. Wish y'all the best.

Re: GSEMIKE2377 (# 587) Expand Referenced Message

I'm aware of that fact. But I still believe the fillers are what jack us up. Depending on how the pill is formulated that factor plays a huge roll on how it works. But be grateful you're not in actual withdrawals with nothing at all. Also not being taken off lorazepam. Because that day can come. We all know pharmaceutical companies are dumbing down the worlds meds. And we all know why. We can complain all we want but we'll never change anything. That's not a defeatist attitude on my part, it's just the truth. I've been doing this dance since 1983. Back then brand was brand and it worked great. Peace y'all!
