Rhodes/purdue Buprenorphine Hcl 8mg Rp B8 Vs Roxanne 54 411 (Page 26)

Updated

I have made the switch from the 8mg films to 8mg buprenorphine tablets only. With all the research I've done and experience I do my best to stay away from actavis mylan and nowadays sandoz. I noticed everyone has enjoyed the Roxanne now westward generics amongst hi-tech coming in second/mylan. I have no experience with mylan bup and don't want to take the risk even as mylan has always been a waste imo. I'm not a fan of allergan (actavis) taking over watson so depending on the drug dispenses I most stay away. There are as of now 7 manufacturers of generic buprenorphine hcl 8mg (generic subutex). They are in order of my preferred with not much experience except with brand name:

*roxanne (now westward pharma)- 54 411
*hi tech- 8 ^(arrow)
*mylan- M924
*teva (allergen/activas owned) crooked b 799
*actavis- moon 153
*sun pharma- 460 white round
[And the brand new released generic made by Purdue and distributed by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals the new Rhodes generic]
*RP b8- white round bevelled and pretending edges.

I currently have had a smooth switch to the Roxanne/westward and declined mylan, actavis, teva, hi tech, sun pharma as most research and reviews conclude the Roxanne/westward generics the 54 411 seem to be best reviewed. I was unable to find the Purdue/Rhodes pharma newly released generic RB b8 imprinted generic. All I know is Rhodes and Purdue are professionals in the process of making quality meds and not just quality meds but pain relief medication, as they even were the company to CREATE oxycontin. I was able to come across one image of them on the web and they look very similar to the Roxanne 54 411s in size color and mostly shape except for the rhodes/Purdue ones protrude or kind of pop out on each side beyond the bevelled edges. They look really well made and on one side they have RP and otherside b 8 which the b and 8 are fairly far apart. I have been doing great from switching from brand films to the Roxanne westward 54 411s so far. I'm hoping to get some feedback by next month on these newly released rhodes/Purdue generic buprenorphine hcl 8mg. They are the newest and just released October 2017 and look very shinny and quality made. I'm hoping someone here who has tried both the Roxanne/westward and the new Purdue ones imprinted RP b 8 tablets. I am going to try and have my pharmacy special order the new Rhodes generics made by Purdue again imprinted RP b 8 white round shinny tablets fairly similar to the Roxanne but look better quality imo but do not have much experience with generic just brand and am very well versed on pharma companies and their medicine and their quality each one has.

Has anyone tried these new rhodes/Purdue ones imprinted RP b 8? How would you compare them to the Roxanne 54 411 tablets... I hope for a response or it will be trail and error for me when ordering Rhodes next month if i stay on this route and will see how they compare to the Roxanne/westward but will not be til a month away. Please if you have any experience with these generics and especially the new rhodes/Purdue one let me know. Again I was able to locate only one image of them and they look great. They do not look small like hi tech more like a combined Roxanne and mylan with the shininess and how they pop out on each side..they look a little larger like the mylan and Roxanne not small like hi tech or teva or activas they are round tablet imprints RP b8 with b and 8 fairly far apart. Any feedback would be great and I would want to switch to rhodes/Purdue from roxanne (now westward being a factor) generics as they make quality are new just released and approved this year 2017 of October and no one how even mentioned them yet that I can find. With westward buying out Roxanne and them making changes a new generic made by Purdue may be just the one we have been waiting for and needing..again on the 54 411 ones now and looking for feedback on the new Purdue Rhodes ones and if the switch from Roxanne westward to rhodes/Purdue would be better maybe with better quality as they have always been a great and reputable company who makes outstanding drugs. Any feedback would be great.

Re: goozer (# 496) Expand Referenced Message

I know right,...its definitely crazy, amitriptyline tier 4, preferred generic, nortriptyline a tier 4 preferred generic also... but they have nortriptyline a tiny bit cheaper. It's old school medicine. I just happened to be shopping around for health insurance plan, because right now if you have SSD, or just SS Its enrollment time. I usually just accept what ever, for reasons I had to shop around this time. Out of the 21 plans in Florida I had to choose one plan.and boy did I shop around. EVERY SINGLE PLAN has these two medications listed as high tiers. They even just came down a tier for buprenorphine, it's now listed as a tier 2,. All insurance provider is different in price so it turns out buprenorphine has a limit for no more than 90 a month. It says IF u need prior authorization for 120 pills does not guarantee it will be approved meaning if u want the 120 u may have to pay out of pocket..being it's a tier 2 the final price is $10 a month.

Re: Charlene (# 502) Expand Referenced Message

Hey Charlene, sorry it’s been a busy busy month. That is exactly what the nortriptyline did to me. I still have a few because i couldn’t take it anymore. Gabapentin and Lyrica are great for nerve pain and Drs don’t mind RXing gabapentin either. It should the t2 as well.

Yes it’s hard. I don’t need prior auth for 4 per day on mine, but I pay a fortune for my insurance. It costs the pharmacy under 10 bucks for a 30 count bottle of Rhodes Bupe. It is sad and they mark it up by like 400 percent on us. Think how much they are banking on both bup side and pain med sides. So sad and ridic. Check your formulary before anything. My insurance has my bup at a t2 generic as well but no PA and still able to get 4 a day. Check them formularies like flies on crap over and over, low deductible formularies are vital to picking your plan and meds for future year. I’m way good with insurance, so if u need help let me know.

Hope this helps. Also will be on more. Sorry for my absence. Love you friend.

Re: Derrick (# 504) Expand Referenced Message

I'd have to say your probably the only one I have ever heard say something so negative about this new subs that we have been so lucky to get..to me and a lot others have had nothing but luck using them. I'm allowed 3/day and sometimes for me one does the trick..I dont know what your dose is but I guess u have them now. I have no idea how u can be going through withdrawals

Re: Derrick (# 504) Expand Referenced Message

When ever I have had to accept a brand I didn't like because of the inactive ingredients I just got ahold of my doctors and she gave me clonadine for a few weeks until my next refill, u can try that..but being that all the generic buprenorphine has 8mg u should not be going into withdrawal, maybe not feeling up to par. Rhodes is acculy a very good generic compared to what's out there.

Re: Derrick (# 504) Expand Referenced Message

That is strange because it is the same as brand name and if not better. I have both 54 411 and rhodes, and one rhodes is easily 2 times potent and lasts two times as long. Trust me, I've tried them all at this point and rhodes is the best imo. And I guarantee you Purdue is not going to let someone take one of their products that is as bad as a 54 411 or make and manufacture a product that would put someone into withdrawal when it's made for quite the other purpose. Everyone is different, but to say they put you in wd sounds like you just trying to hate lol ... but everyone has the right to their say, but I highly doubt a purdue product would be as bad as 54 411, let alone throw someone into wd - unless u have other drugs in your system, otherwise never. But to each their own.

Re: Charlene (# 506) Expand Referenced Message

Hope everyone's doing good. I don't know why Purdue is the best. I think everyone knows at this point that anyone saying otherwise has a sensitive body or something to the ingredients or is just full of it.

I take the rp b8 subutex sublingal tabs and honestly they are great. They dissolve fast no nasty after taste and 1/4 last me roughly 24 hours. The cost is aldo way less. I went from paying 700 a month to less than 100 a month.

Re: Teana (# 510) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Teana ..you described these RP B8 perfectly!. I have also been on them since I found goozer page here, so thank god I did or I might have had to settle with the half moon that's at about every pharmacy around me. As soon as I read your sentence about them melting fast with out leaving that strong taste..I used to describe it as almost like a metal taste and I have read others call it a strong bup taste .either way I used to find it difficult to eat or drink for most of the day it just stays forever. At least with me taking 8mgx 3 day maybe a 4th if I needed one..now with these new ones I'm like you sometimes I will go most of the day and I'd forget that I have only taking one . As before on the other generics out there I used to come up short at the end of the month by having to take an extra because if I felt a sigh of w/d coming on even in the middle of the night i'd take a quarter to get me to a.m. Thx to goozer here helping all of us following this page and howl to find or get al mom n pop pharmacy to order them. My little pharmacy called after they got them in to thank me because they had no idea they were available. I believe he said they pay just around $2 a piece. So they don't jack up the price much but are making more money on them because of the new people coming in with scripts for them. As to there is not much luck walking into a chain pharmacy and asking to order them, at least here in Florida. Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, they all have their mind set on the same old ones and will not budge...

Re: goozer (# 508) Expand Referenced Message

Well hello goozer, hope all is well and u had a very nice holiday....I just finally found time to jump back into the normal swing of life as to checking out my favorite medschat page here....I'm still using the Rp b8 and still will continue to rave about howl well they have been for me..so at the end of the month I actually have left overs as per before I was sometimes a week short , well not a full week but still short. It just proves how great these are,.. and damn I worry about the what ifs.. meaning I hope they never disappear?...I only say this because of the law suits with Purdue, along with cardinal, and the other few distributors. I have been following this and they even mentioned all the way down to the truck drivers that transported the oxys to the pharmacy's...the Walgreens by me here in Florida is in a heap of trouble supposedly they should have noticed or mentioned something about how many pills coming into then out for fills..they will no longer let anyone have a script early. Meaning any controlled substance if it's due on the 31st..you can only have it on the 30th....I don't use Walgreens for my meds because I have my mom n pop shop..but my son and husband use them because they are right here in the neighborhood..... oh, p.s. I see you have another medschat page going and that one is as good as this one ....I do know that if I have a question, you are my guy to go to with your knowledge is out of this world..see maybe you were meant to be working somewhere in the medical field....lol. take care.

Re: goozer (# 508) Expand Referenced Message

Lol yeah, I still prefer my 54411 but I am almost OCD with my daily routines, and I HATE change. I’m pretty sure it’s all mental, but at least I know which brand to switch to should I not be able to find my 54’s. I've just had such bad side effects whenever I switched generics (nausea, headaches, etc) but I’m sure if I stuck with them for a month or so I would eventually get used to it. But I love this thread and get a lot of great info, so thank you Goozer and everyone else for your experiences. And happy new year to everyone!!

Re: Charlene (# 499) Expand Referenced Message

I tried amitriptyline and i had a horrible reaction. I was completely out of it for about 6 hours and speaking in gibberish while trying to put myself into the refrigerator before finally passing out for 18 hours. My dr said that is a common side effect so be very careful with those and do NOT take more than prescribed

Re: Goozer (# 18) Expand Referenced Message

I know this board is old, but I am about to switch from Roxanne's to Rhodes. I've been taking Roxanne's for 3 years and yes, I need to wean off this junk. Roxanne's have become too expensive and my pharmacy will no longer carry. I cut mine in quarters and many of the brands out there cannot be split due to their size/shape. The pharmacy is recommending Rhodes as the replacement, but I am scared to switch. It's either switch or pay $130 out of pocket each month. Can you confirm that Rhodes is better or the same as Roxanne? Thanks.

Re: Charlene (# 512) Expand Referenced Message

Well terrible news for me. Not sure if you remember the relief and gratitude I had several months ago when they put me on rhodes 3 per day. It's been so nice not having to worry about running out or if the meds will even work. God it's been nice.

Well, the clinic I go to has hired a new doctor. She didn't care about my cancer or crohns or the surgery I just had or the fact that I just quit smoking....she only cared about one freaking thing: cutting me back and changing my meds. She didn't care about anything but this so called "ceiling effect" that I've heard y'all mention but that I've never experienced. When they had me on 2 a day I was having to buy extra through other means. I do not abuse my meds, sell them, or use them in any way other than normal.

Then the Dr tells me that unless I can give her medical records of my reaction to naloxone, then next month she'll be putting me on something new called Belbuca. It has less Naloxone. Naloxone gives me crippling headaches. Not to mention I've had 6 miscarriages trying to have a baby. So all they'll do is rip me back off the meds next time I get pregnant and put me back on Subutex. People think that is easy because it has the same main ingredient, but I assure you it is not. When they finally took me off Suboxone 3 years ago and put me on Subutex it was six weeks before the withdrawals and the ups and downs went away and my body got re-acclimated.

What is wrong with these doctors? She did not give a damn to learn anything about me all she was interested in was cutting me back and changing me up. Anyone who was addicted to opiates do chronic pain anyone that is hard to use Subutex for chronic pain knows there's no ceiling effect, not unless you get up to 6 a day.

I do have some old MRI results where it showed as soon as I started taking Suboxone with Naloxone I had swelling on the brain called papilledema. And I never had it before I started taking Suboxone with Naloxone. Getting those old MRI results faxed into this new doctor might be my only hope and even that may not work. I don't know what to do. I'm so depressed all I've done is cry. I was finally a good place, a really good place. I guess it's our government forcing these doctors to be this way I don't know. I don't know why this woman would be even doing this business. She didn't give a damn to learn anything about me before she made her decision. Why are they making it so hard on us? I don't understand. I know the few bad ppl ruin it for the many, but this is the anti-drug. It doesn't even get people high. Not high like real pain pills. I'm at my wits end. I'm crushed and I'm scared. Screw her ceiling effect.

Re: Shannon (# 517) Expand Referenced Message

Shannon this is a definite time for a new doctor and clinic. Time it seems they have probably changed providers thus the way they do things. Don't lose hope, there are understanding Drs out there. Just keep your search going and if this is what she has done, say "i pay you to take care of me. If you aren't I'm taking my money and services elsewhere"... Time to find new Dr, new clinic. Look for a private suboxone / subutex Dr or the ihc or your city's big main hospital chains. Psychiatry and counseling will be a great choice. I have been there. My prayers are with you.

Re: Maddy (# 516) Expand Referenced Message

I cannot confirm this for your personal self or body, but the Roxanne you have been getting for last year have not been Roxanne. They have been westward or himka made, and yes, rhodes is made with same active and inactive ingredients as the brand name subutex. I have both the 54 411 and rhodes, and can confirm for me that they are two times better & two times stronger and longer lasting than the 54 411. Rhodes are same as brand, pretty much made by the purdue pharma famiy. They are quality tablets i assure you.

Re: Tara (# 514) Expand Referenced Message

You are most welcome and I understand I'm OCD very much so that I know every wholesaler of my valley's pharmacies and with my routine lol I get it. But the rhodes are the exact same as brand name and the old Roxanne 54 411 are non existent anymore. The new 54 411 are made out of the country, but to each their own, I understand routine very well.
