Gd, why do you only need a doctor in Louisiana to write your prescription for at least 2-3 months ? If you can find a doctor in Louisiana, what will you do in 2-3 months for your prescriptions ? Any new doctor will want a copy of your medical records from your doctor in Texas. Even with those records it is highly doubtful you will find a doctor that will prescribe you fentanyl patchs, oycontin and Soma.

I have a spinal cord injury on c5 including paralysis. I need a great doctor that can write a prescription for at least 2 or 3 months, who is not opposed to Oxycodone 15mg, Fentanyl 25mcg patches and Soma if possible. Every 3-4 weeks I'm driving to Texas. Anyone know of a pain doctor in Louisiana? Thanks.

I live in the Knoxville Ten. area . Recently moved from Pa. I have been on a maint. dose of oxycodone 10/325. 2tabs 3x daily for 5 years . Have no abuse record nor drug habit tendencies. I have had numerous lower back/ cervical surgeries and legally disabled. My 1st. appt: with a pain specialist leads me to believe even though my records , Mri's etc. substanciate the need for 180 pills monthly , Tenn. law will only allow 120 per month. Is this true ? My next appt : is the end of Jan.2017 . I have been in a great deal of un- needed pain due to the decrease. Yes I have been through all of the therapy , blocks and injections for years prior to saying enough is enough , no more ! I have lived a decent quality of life with this Med. dosage and do not want anything more potent. After 5 yrs. I get no ' high ' and feel perfectly in control of my mind and body. I am going on 60 yrs.old and just want to enjoy my grandchildren with minimal daily pain and a clear mind. I am hoping after a few visits , clean urine's and compassion he will take me back to my orig. dosage , Tenn. law allowing. If not the case can anyone living in this area recommend a Dr. or pain clinic who might help me. I am fully insured, up front and honest and just looking for help. Thanks..

Rowrock15,
It's impossible to predict what a physician will prescribe before hand. Medicaid providers in your area that Rx for potent narcotic opiates are frankly non existent that's the reason your having such a difficult time.normaly doctor's will provide a referral to a specialist that may consider your request with complete documentation recent Rx history and test results. Short of that most docs will play pass the buck. Oxycodone as you know can be extremely habit forming and is contraindicated for long term use except in extreme intractable pain or terminal conditions.

The doc in Laurel, Barclay, what does he charge? We're coming from Bougalusa, LA next week to see him & they said my mom would see Dr Barclay or Dr Magee but that they cover all the patients & rotate so you know both of them. My mom is going due to bone cancer (stage 3) and her BS Medicaid will not cover pain mgmnt in Louisiana. So I've had to search and search for someone & im willing to pay a doc whatever in cash but cancer is one of the most painful things. She's talked suicide before bc she was in such pain. God I hope he will write for her 2mg Dilaudid & 30mg morphine ER & post date her other rxs for 3 months. That way I don't have to shell out soooooo much money each month. But yeah, what am I going to have to pay for the first visit?

Dr. Wiemer is strict! First, you will need a REFERRAL and a RELEASE from your CURRENT DOCTOR. If you have been out of a Doctor for a month or more, GOOD LUCK! All of your RECORDS will have to be MAILED DIRECTLY FROM YOUR DOCTOR. Your MRI report also has to be MAILED DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE. And your PHARMACY RECORDS have to come DIRECTLY FROM YOUR PHARMACY. This they will accept as a fax but again, ONLY DIRECTLY FROM THE PHARMACY. NURSE LYNN DOES NOT PLAY! She is very polite and professional but don't try her even once! She is exceptionally thorough. YOU WILL BE THOROUGHLY VETTED! THIS INCLUDES A BACKGROUND CHECK! And if you have ever been to REHAB, FORGET IT! Also don't think you are going to walk in there and get what you want from the door! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! You will be examined. He is going to put his hands on you. Your MEDICATION will be PRESCRIBED ACCORDING TO YOUR CONDITION, PERIOD! And there will be periodic re-evaluations. You will be given drug panels! And I don't mean just once! Furthermore you will be called for a medication count. And if you don't make it, you had better been in the hospital or have a picture of you standing next to the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE holding today's paper in your hands. Wiemer runs a strict and tight clinic! I have been in Pain Mgmt. for well over a Decade in both MS. & LA. And if you think any old MRI will work and you don't have a serious problem, don't waist your money. Last but not least, His initial evaluation is expensive and time consuming. You will wait a month or more just to get your first appointment. The paper work, you will write a book! In fact you will do paper work EVERY TIME YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Plan on being there 1-1/2 to 2 hours for your initial then an hour plus there after for subsequent appointments. Still think he is easy?
