Re: Luisa (# 19) Expand Referenced Message

Tapering off the opioids is so much better than using Suboxone or methadone because you will someday have to come off of that and it takes like a month instead of less than a week if you were just to withdraw from the opioids.

Yep, and I recommend some thing for sleep for the third night. That was the worst for me. Magnesium also helps you just have to be careful not to take too much or you will get diarrhea

I don’t think Kratom is strong enough to make a difference.
Immodium AD should help.
What did you think of that bladder medication? I took it for an overactive bladder and it made my bladder ache so badly. It worked great for the excessive urination, but my God the pain. Lol I couldn’t take it. I even tried cutting it in half, oh my God the pain.
Magnesium may help the sweating/anxiety just be careful because it also will give you diarrhea if you take too much.
Have you tried the Imodium A.D. though? Be careful, don’t overdo it, but that’s a game changer

First of all, there are a few states that did not expand Medicaid so people don’t get insurance just because they are poor and they need it. I assume that’s the case for this person or why wouldn’t they.

Second, I think you are incorrect about not getting withdrawals from this medication. I didn’t use methadone, but I used Suboxone because my doctor told me I could get off long-term pain medication and avoid withdrawals by using Suboxone. That was a huge lie. I slowly tapered it down over six months like he suggested, by the time I stopped taking it I was taking it like an eighth of a 2 mg or maybe 4 mg tablet. So I thought it would be no big deal to stop. I had withdrawals for like a month it was pretty uncomfortable. Later on in life when I required long-term pain medication again, I decided to just wean off of that and stop taking that when it was time. The withdrawals were totally gone in a week, the third night was the worst and after that it was pretty much fine.

Like I said, I’ve never tried methadone. And also I was just using the Suboxone to come off prescription medication that I was taking as directed, maybe it’s worth it if someone is abusing something hard-core but if someone is just trying to get off pain medication I would recommend skipping the methadone or Suboxone and just weaning off the pain meds. You’ll save yourself weeks of withdrawal symptoms Seriously.

Why not apply for state insurance so you can go to the clinic? This medication is meant to be tapered off. Extremely slowly. At 1 to 2 mg per week, not any faster. If you try to go any faster, you will be miserable for weeks. If you follow this speed, you won't feel any withdrawal. If you have no money, you should qualify for state insurance just fine. No one should be without insurance. At this point, it's pretty much required in this country now. And it's only about $80 a week. Speak to a local charity or church. Many of them will help pay for that, but they will pay it directly. They won't give you the money. So if you want the withdrawal to go away, you need to go take more methadone. Nothing else is gonna do it. And you're not gonna be able to function at a job or school or take care of your family or do anything for several weeks if you stop going from a higher dose of methadone. Because it's not meant to be stopped that way. Go hustle at eighty, go pay the clinic week to week and taper off properly or stay on it. The medication has no negative long-term effects, health wise.

I'm on 33mg Methadone with 6 carries. This last week has me in full-on withdrawal. I noticed today that I had some restless legs then heart pounding, cold sweats, cold hands/feet...ALL OF IT. Finally I went to my pharmacy to discuss my situation and I'm visibly in agony. I still had 2 sealed bottles and was really just wanting them to redo the 2 in case the dose indeed was made incorrectly. "We all know their first thoughts" so I knew ahead of time for it to be a NO. But I'm visibly in major wd's. Just as I thought, they said, "it can't be wrong, the machine calibrates it for us". They wouldn't hear of me questioning anymore and said maybe go to the hospital. Anyone else know their juice has been made incorrectly and just made out to look like a liar? NOT fun when in full wd's. In 3 years on this program, this is the very first time this happened.
What can I do? I never want to have this happen ever again.

Hey everyone, I am trying to come off green liquid Methadone, the liquid handcuffs. So my question is, how do I come off it with as little pain and sweating as possible? I keep meaning to come off it but I keep on getting takeaways and even dipping into them too. Because I've got a strong mind, I can go a day without it anyway. I heard of a drug that's meant to be for your bladder called Oxybutynin but it also stops the sweating, plus I found a site that would finally send me Kratom to take instead of Methadone but I was still sick. Is that normal or did I get scammed with fake Kratom?

Kramton it will help a lot. I have seen on other sites people do like a mix of things they use several types of medications when going through withdrawl I do not wish that on anyone. so a google search of withdrawl of off Methadone might give you info you need from others who have experienced the same thing. Unfortunately I have not so I am not an expert but I know many who have been able to safely withdrawl off of Methadone and hydrocodone, oxycodone by using Kramton, Anti-diarrhea pills IMMODIUM, even Marijuana sorry for all the spelling errors.

I told my PM Dr. that I want off opioids after a 8 year long addiction. I've taken every known opioid there is, and currently I'm on methadone 30mg a day. I have failed my last 3 U/A's because I consume Marijuana for my chronic pain, and I told my doctor that it works better than his poison, he wasn't too happy about that. So f*** my doctor and his U/A's, I'm 62 years old and I don't need any more bulls*** tests. A**holes! So by myself I'm down to 15mg a day now. I'll dribble myself off this horrible drug and be done with it. Opioids have ruled my life and I'm taking my life back.

Yes! If there is a Costco near you (even if if was a 100 mile journey it would be worth it) go to the rear of the store and buy (NOT behind the counter) and look for double boxes of Anti-Diarrheal pills. They are NOT prescription but contain a chemical called "loperamide." Each tiny green pill contains 2 mg which is fine for controlling diarrhea, BUT you must take at least 4-50. About an hour or 2 later you will be comfortable enough to sleep. Cut back on these daily, drink a lot of water, and take benadryl (dollar store). It won't be a cake-walk but you can do it.

The only thing that will help with Methadone withdrawal is either opiates or benzos. Benzos WILL take the edge off but u need to realize they will also cause dependency if taken everyday for a couple weeks. It might be worth it tho since Methadone is withdrawal is so severe and long. It's definitely easier to detox off benzos. They won't completely get rid of your symptoms but they'll definitely take the edge off. Be careful about taking too much while still on Methadone, also.

I feel so bad for you, but this too shall pass. Albeit very slowly for you. Do yourself a favor try to tough it out. Don't substitute one pill for another. Our feelings demand to be felt. I was on 9 10mg of methadone a day. My husband freaked out and threw them away. Boom I was on the floor in a motel bathroom. Physically sick, methadone has a long half life so withdrawals last weeks, but soon you will feel better, then better still, and learn to read up on anything a Dr. gives you. I was on Methadone for 6 years for pain. Withdrawing from it was the best thing I have ever done. You can do it!

No substitute over the counter. You cannot cut corners!! All of you listen and save yourselves some nightmarish days and nights.
Subutex to Suboxone
Methadone taper
Other opiate taper
That's it.
