Is Jardiance Working?

I’m into month 4 on this journey… I just got my bloodwork back and it’s worse than when I started this drug (Jardiance 10 mg). It seemed to help in the beginning when my morning glucose was 100-105. I have not lost any weight on this…may have gained a few pounds though. So my starting blood sugar was 116-120. Well that has not changed according to my new bloodwork. Starting A1C 6.5, now it’s 6.9! Lipids are higher because I added avocado and nuts to my diet. Starting lipid panel was showing my total cholesterol at 246, now 298! This is frightening… it’s not working. Maybe I should have tried Metformin as it’s been around for so long.

Hello Sue, how are you doing? Has there been any change?

Have you also made other dietary adjustments along with taking the Jardiance?

I know you said you've added nuts, and avocados, but you do need to watch your overall carbohydrate, fat, and cholesterol intake. No medication can do it all. You likely need to cut down on the amount of red meat you consume, as well as some dairy products, and limit your intake of fruits, and snack foods.

I did some further investigating on Jardiance and one thing the doctors don’t tell you is that it will raise cholesterol levels to the point that you will need another medication(statins) to take with it.
My concern was more of it being toxic to my liver.
That’s a hell of a trade off…touted as med to control A1c in ppl who have CHF and kidney disease (I don’t have either). My doc was like this is the next gen medication for type 2 diabetes. I’ll think I’ll talk about metformin with her…anti inflammatory properties, lowers A1c and also lower cholesterol levels… who would have thought!
