Having Percocet Withdrawals
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I use to take 10-325 of Percocet 5 times a day.
My new doctor lowered the dosage to 3times a day. Saying I was takin too much. I had bad withdrawal and ended up in the hospital. I now take 3 10-325 along with 500mg of tyenol to control my pain. Even with that amount I'm still in a lot of pain. What should i do, I feel like my doctor is not listening to me. I feel the only reason he lower the dosage was because the CDC is being hard on them. I'm in pain all day long.

WRONG! The CDC does provide guidelines for the prescribing of opioids for chronic pain. They're a huge part of why a lot of doctors are spooked.

Hi. How are you able to do this? You're MD told you? Was your diagnosis causing you pain, cured? Most people aren't able to go off pain medications like this because the pain returns. I don't know what you had, but I think it is unusual for someone to quickly say I'm coming off this and that one after another without some sudden cure such as a surgery.

Iam presently on oxycodone/acetaminophen 10/325 every 6 hours (4) a day and morphine sulfate 30mg ER every 8 hours or (3) per day plus I take gabapentin 400 mg capsules I want to get off of everything. I stopped taking the morphine on Sunday had none Monday none so far today. The withdrawal effects now that I'm on the oxy and gabapentin alone have been loose stool shakes and very nervous I want to taper off of the oxy as well. Right now I'm taking the oxy And gabapentin together. And also 30 mg of temazepam 30 mg one at bedtime. and the gaba really helps with the leg pain I plan on Sunday to start getting off of the oxy by cutting the pill to 2/3 of it and slowly get off of that. Anyone have suggestions to help me detox? Thx

The CDC is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, they do not regulate drugs, or prescription medications. They work on getting control of outbreaks of dangerous diseases, preventing their spread, and etc.

I believe you may be thinking of the DEA, which is the Drug Enforcement Agency. They are the ones that try to help keep control of various drugs/medications, and they make the suggestions regarding what are safe amounts to be prescribed, and etc., and yes, they have issued new directives advising that doctor's not prescribe more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day, unless someone has intractable pain due to a possible fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer.

Following that, some states have further lowered it to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine a day.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Unfortunately, there really isn't anything you can. People all over the country are going through the same thing and it's terrible. I know this doesn't actually help you, I am just informing you of how things currently stand.

Does anyone else have any ideas or advice that may help?
