Glutaphos is actually a supplement, touted to help with memory issues, it contains Glutamic Acid (Glutamine), Dicalcium Phosphate (Calcium), Thiamine (Vitamin B1) and Vitamin B12. It is available by prescription in the Philippines.
As far as adverse events are concerned, MedlinePlus [1] lists the following potential side effects associated with Glutamic Acid (Glutamine) supplementation:
That said, since each one of these ingredients are naturally present in a healthy balanced diet, the only real concern in my opinion is simply overdoing it and taking too much of any one ingredient. Otherwise, the individual ingredients themselves are generally regarded as safe in normal doses.
Hope this helps!

So far I have also tried drinking Glutaphos since high school... I was a member of the parliamentary procedures group of the school, which warrants immediate formation of arguments. It feels good that it was really effective. Frank to say, I also tried Memo Plus Gold, which was sold over the counter. It costs around 12 php, but it has never made my memory effective after 3 months of continuous drinking. With Glutaphos (which was around 9-10 php), I felt a little improvement. I have been a long term taker of the drug, pero wala pa namang side effects. My pharmacy major friend told me that it can induce hypertension (due to its Calcium content), yet nothing happens. What seems to be evident is that i feel dizzy and sleepy after 2-3 hours of drinking the tablet. it is enteric coated, I believe... So I recommend to drink it before you sleep. I hope this helps a lot!

I had just started taking the med over-the-counter because i really have big problems when it comes to memorizing since my course is nursing...i have to memorize and memorize and memorize...it was just been suggested to me by some friends...it's still too early to give proofs about the enhancement it gives my brain now or how it will do in the future...i usually take it thrice a day since the dosage indicated was t.i.d. (thrice a day in med terms)....my only concern is its effect after taking it or if I would stop using it would I have some sort of brain dis functions or something like that.....naturally it will make somebody sleepy because it helps the brain to relax....and hopefully nothing bad will happen to me... :)

hi! glutaphos helps but it gives your brain burden to function more. there's no physical side effect but if you stop the use of it, your brain cells will not work as much. you can probably have memory gaps. i'm recommending to just take vitamin C plus iron. :)

for those who already took glutaphos, is it true that your brain functions slower when you stop taking this drug? and is this side effect permanent? if not, how much time did it take for the side effect to wear off?
Hi, I've been drinking glutaphos for couple of months now.. I noticed that it's very effective.. however, if you stop drinking it.. you tend to be more forgetful. :)

i also encountered same situation as you do but i just think that when we are still taking the tablet our memory is so sharp that when we stop taking it we feel forgetful, maybe its just because we were used to have that sharp memory when taking it.. the "forgetful mind" we were saying maybe is just the original memory that we have before taking glutaphos,. just a thought.
