i to had a problem with over eating ,binge eating and then wanting to sleep after i had eaten and the sleep was like a drugged sleep where i couldnt keep my eyes open.i was irritated all the time and no motivation and have suffered with deep deppression where nothing really mattered and food was all i had .i have been on zorloft , mirtazapine, efexor and many more through my life time none of which helped i even tried duromine in desperation i am a non practicing alcoholic for 10 years and have attempted suicide twice in my youth after reading about pristiq in the blogs i had nothing to lose so i started on 50mg and went to 100mg and continued to 400mg i was lucky and only had slight side effects pressure behind my eyes, sweating ,and nausea which i only experience slightly every now and then . and i take quick eze for.it the other side effects slowly disappeared.Taking pristiq is worth it to me as my life has balance i eat normally 3 times a day i no longer obssess about food and my deppression is no longer there and im interested eveything that i need to do.this i s the best i have ever felt.i just regret that i did not discover pristiq 50 years ago im 58 and i also can control my anxiety i have therapy once a month it helps me to improve my life. i hope this might help you decide but take in this thought that this experience happened for me and may not for you but i wish you all the best.

Hi Jamie,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Based on my research, Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine) is in the drug class: Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It is used to treat major depressive disorder in adults. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances (serotonin and norepinephrine) in the brain and could improve your mood, feelings of well-being, and energy level.

I imagine that your doctor prescribed this to you because of your history of depression. You mentioned anxiety though, is that also something you're dealing with?
