Mirtazapine Overview

Mirtazapine, sold under the brand name Remeron among others, is an antidepressant primarily used to treat depression.[7][8] Its full effect may take more than four weeks to occur, with some benefit possibly as early as one to two weeks.[9][8] Often it is used in depression complicated by anxiety or trouble sleeping.[7][10] It is taken by mouth.[8] Common side effects include increas...

Mirtazapine Sleeping and side effects

Hi all. Great reading your posts. I am on Mirtazapine for the second time. Happy new year by The way. Firstly my psychiatrist put me on 30mg. It knocked me out every time. I had vivid abnormal dreams, lucid which I love. Nevertheless I had the munchies all the time coupled with lethargy, fuzziness and mild hallucinations. I kept going but was getting chubbier by the week. So i decided to ween myself of them feeling that my depression and residual psychosis from previous street drug abuse had resided or gone altogether. 3 weeks off them I was back in a dark gloomy and aggressive place my mood was irrational my thoughts racing always looking for someway to escape myself. 2 months later I went back on them and at first I felt like they were not working so the doc uped them from 15 to 30mg....

cispin for depression

## What is Cispin? ## Cispin is a common misspelling for the antidepressant called Zispin SolTab. Active Ingredient: Mirtazapine Method of Administration: Orodispersible (e.g. Tablet is placed in the mouth where it rapidly disperses in saliva so that it can be easily swallowed). Indication: According to medlineplus.gov, Mirtazapine is a prescription antidepressant drug that works by increasing certain types of activity in the brain to maintain mental balance. Controversy: Studies indicate that it may take up to several weeks or longer for you to feel the full benefit of Mirtazapine. Hope this helps! ## In my experience, all treatments need to be tailored to each individual. It is almost useless to say "Try this, it worked for me!" When I was first diagnosed with depression, I wa...

Mirtazapine 15mg Overdose Effects & Safety

My 24 year old overdosed on paracetamol and aspirin last week. She took over 40 tablets. After being released from hospital and seeing her local GP she has been given 14 day supply of this drug. I am concerned to allow her to keep all the tablets. ## Hi, I had overdosed on 15mg mirtazapines and had the Dr's check me over about 3 days later. Do you think all is ok? ## This is an antidepressant that is used to treat various mental health conditions. If you are concerned, it might be best for you to keep the tablets and dispense one to her each day, for her own safety, that is often what is done in mental health units, when someone is suicidal and they want to be cautious. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings, headache, ...

coming off mirtazapine 15mg

I started on 15mg mirtazapine 7 weeks ago and titrated up after 4 weeks to 30mg for 1 week; then back down to 15mg for the last week. I want off this awful medication. I feel completely spaced out all the time but am aware withdrawal is horrendous. I have been really agitated the past 48 hrs so I want to limit withdrawal symptoms as much as possible. I was going through a bad divorce, serious debts and being staked for 9 months by my ex husband of 26 years. I have had extensive counselling and am mentally in a much better place so I want to come off this poison ASAP safely. Thank you for your reply. ## Hello, Beth! How are you? Overall, divorces always suck, even if we have to do them for own good, I dealt with one back in 2009 and my new husband had to deal with one back in 2015, so I ...

Dangers of mirtazapine

It seems to me that Mirtazapine is a potentially dangerous drug with little information known about it. My veterinarian prescribed this drug in small quantities for my cat as an appetite stimulant, so I began reading articles on the drug and its effects. Although it is supposed to be used as an antidepressant for humans, it has a wide reputation for causing suicidal tendencies in children and young adults. It causes weight gain (the side effect my vet was looking for in my cat's case). It also can cause feelings of depression, and wooziness. I spoke with a nurse who took it and she said the effects of sluggishness and dizziness lasted 2 to 3 days. It can also cause nausea and headaches. It seems to me that these side effects are anything but what a person who is already depressed sh...

Long term effects of Mirtazapine

## I started taking 15 mg of Mirtazapine a month ago and for anxiety, feelings of fear and worry and depression. I’m still feeling some worry and fear. I’m having some bad dreams and very over anxious. I’m having headaches and constipation. These dreams are the worst. Do these side effects get less powerful over time? ## Many people on Mirtazapine report a worsening of their symptoms of anxiety and depression in the early weeks of starting Mirtazapine (same as many other anti-depressants). It can take several weeks for the drug to begin working and then symptoms improve. Mirtazapine usually works faster than newer SSRI anti-depressants (many people report improvements between 2-5 weeks). However some people may need their dosage adjusting to get the full benefit. Docto...

Mirtazapine: strange back pain

Hello, I am taking 30mg daily before going to bed (male, 43 yo). I have started with a very low dosage of 7.5mg and over the course of about 1.5 months I reached the current level. I experienced clear drowsiness (which is a good as I was having trouble sleeping) and dry mouth from the beginning. While the effect of drowsiness right after taking the pill persists, the dry mouth seems to be mostly reduced (80% from the top at the beginning). The reason why I'm writing is a strange back pain that started about 6-7 weeks ago. Here is why I find it strange and why I would like to hear from others if they experienced it like this: 1. I wake up every morning with acute back pain over all my back (bottom to below the neck) 2. Due to the pain I can hardly move in bed when I wake up. Often it...
