Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

You will have to find another pain management clinic. If you have an addiction problem, then you can try a Methadone clinic. But, after going to the Methadone clinic, it may be impossible to get your chronic pain treated. Call your insurance company and ask them if you need a referral and if you don't ask them for a list of Pain Managment Drs that take your insurance. If you don't have insurance, it will cost app $250-$350 a month if you can find a pain managment dr who will accept cash. Your first visit will be more than that. If you were being prescribed anti depressant by your last pain managment dr, it will be up to a new dr is they want to prescribe it. A new dr may or may not prescribe you what your last dr was giving you. They will also want a copy of your medical records from your last pain dr.

Hi I was in your same situation about two years ago. I was seeing a doctor in laffayette Louisiana driving three hours once a month and did that since 2005. The clinic ended up being shut down. It was a mess. My nurologist could not write me anything but Percocet tens so that of course didn't help the doctor in Lafayette was unable to give me a copy of all my health records so I basically have no proof of going to the pain clinic all those years. We were actually told when the clinic shut down the methadone was going to be banned so I assume I was not gonna be able to get it anymore anyway. I started taken 30 mg oxycodone. I would run out early and have to spend too much money trying to find them on the streets so I ended up finding a methadone clinic in Hammond Louisiana its called choices of Louisiana. I'm back steady on my methadone and feeling good maybe worth trying out good luck hope everything works out

I seen ur reply. I use to go to Texas for my roxys. The ride and time is unable. I've tried some dr here in Louisiana but with the DEA on all the dr ass they not wanting to prescribe the medicine I need. Will u please me to a dr that will treat my pain. I'm willing to travel within Louisiana

Methadone Clinics don't treat patient for chronic pain, they treat drug addicts. If you start going to a Methadone Clinic to get your pain meds, you may never be able to find a dr who will treat your pain because you have a history of drug addiction.

Kurt , Methadone Clinics treats addicts. You won't be able to find a pain management dr that will treat you with Methadone for your addiction in their office. If you have made the mistake of going to a Methadone Clinic to receive Methadone to treat your chronic pain, you won't be able to find a dr that will treat your pain with opiates. Methadone Clinics do not treat chronic pain.

It is sad that people have ruined it for others. The misuse and selling of their meds. There are ppl that are in serious chronic pain that has to suffer. It is very hard to get methadone scripts. Most doctors think that you are drug seeking or faking. I just had back surgery and I have three cages in my back. I am in pain everyday. It doesn't matter how much I stress to my doctor how badly I hurt. He continues to give me Percocet. I hardly sleep. My husband suffers because of me. Having to take care of me. I am not drug seeking. I am in constant pain. Good luck in finding a doctor. I transitioned from Fla to La and I had no problem getting my meds for 13 years. Never had bad blood or urine. Always had the right count. I truly suffer. Again, good luck and God Help You.

Can anyone please help me. Chronic pain sufferer since 2003. Was on MDs for 3 yrs. Changed my life. Was screwed by Dr who later would lose luscence. Who's prescribing MDs for chronic pain in baton R ouge?? Thanks

Yes go find a methadone clinic and quick as posible or you will get sick with in 3 to 4 days of not having your meds goodluck with that..........

FIND URSELF A METHADONE CLINIC, ASAP...google it, u cant find a list of clinic in ur state and surronding states...good luck honey..

I have same problem as Sara & Knot does about finding real help for a real problem I've had with spinal damage since I was 25 when I first broke my back. Doctors think taking the pill is worse than dealing with pain. Of-course their not dealing with any pain. My doctor cares more about he's cows (that he has for tax deduction) than he cares for his patents. What can a person do to find a doctor who's willing to live up to that hippocratic oath they take to become a doctor. Please help if you can.

I use to go to a doctor in Galiano La. At the Lady of the Sea clinic, Dr. Walter Byrdsal and he was giving me 150mg a day. But I decided to quit and did a subutex detox in his office for a few days but it did not help my detox, I suffered for almost 3 weeks, thought I was going to loose my mind, but I finally got through it and will never get on methadone again. I've detoxed off of oxycontin and it was bad, but only for a few days. Methadone gets in your bone marrow and it is a slow gradual intense detox that i never want to experience again.

Hi I'm in Louisiana in the Baton Rouge area, my doctor recently stop practicing and gave me 30 days worth of methadone and told us we had to find a new doctor well it's harder than it sounds!!!! I was wondering if anybody knows of a doctor that's in are around the area that will take new patience??? I was hurt at Dow Chemical and lost my left leg, hip bone, and pelvic bone!!!! I'm out and need a doctor fast!!!

I had been in M for nearly 7 years when suddenly much drama happened at where I go & long story but few patients that stayed were mostly locals who didn't find doctor in time to change to SooOooo we had to wein off methadone & start MS contin + didn't help much so he tried Opana & now I'm still on that w/ Dilaudid. It is just not enough relief, my daily functionibg has drastically declined in all I do-I'm miserable & it sucks. Great. I think I'll give his office a call soon. I love my doctor with a passion! He is gentle and kind. But come August he is starting his mdvip practice. He's going to start charging 1650 annually to see him. It literally is a VIP program. The perks are great. But it's just too much. Thank you for your kindness in sharing. It is worth a try. It's nice to know there are still some good doctors out there who don't treat methadone like it's crack! Everyone is different in the way medicine works, you know?
