So, I had about eight days clean, after going to a treatment center and going thru opiate withdrawls. When I got home I called about a vivitrol assessment and they told me to come in on the 24th. So I went and got a 30 mg Roxy. Well, today they called and told me to come in for labs tomorrow. Is the oxycodone in my system going automatically knock out my chances of getting the injection? ## Did you ever get an answer on this?!? I'm curious about the same thing. Getting my shot tomorrow!!!!

Can u flush vivitrol from ur system? It's making me very sore and tired all day, but I still can't sleep either. I had it one week ago and I can't take it anymore. ## Hi Joz, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the FDA, Vivitrol has an estimated elimination half-life of 5 to 10 days (at which point only half of the dose you took would theoretically be out of your body). However, the FDA notes that this time frame is dependent upon the erosion of the polymer... I would also conclude that a variety of individual factors may heavily influence whether you're closer to the 5 day mark vs 10 day mark in its half life. Lastly, the FDA states that the elimination half life of Vivitrol and its metabolites occurs primarily via urine; so I'd agree that drinking lots...

I am getting a vivitrol shot tomorrow at 3:30. I was in pain today and broke down and ended up taking eight 10/325 norco throughout the day. I took 2 every 4 hours. Being that it is just norco and not something a whole lot stronger, will I be ok taking the shot, or will it send me into precipitated withdrawals? Thank you. ## It could still send you into precipitated withdrawals, so it may be best not get the shot, unless your doctor says otherwise. The typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, and muscle spasms. What did you end up doing? ## Got the shot. Definitely sent me into precipitated withdrawals. I started feeling better this morning. Wanted to die for the first 24 hours.

I have recently stopped taking Percocet. It's been 4 days and the withdrawals are horrible. My doctor prescribed me 50 mg of naltrexone to help. He said its fine to start taking them right away but I see a lot of sites say 10 days to 2 weeks after your last Percocet. Is 4 days enough time. Shouldn't he know what's best? ## Yes, he should, since he is a doctor. However, taking it too soon could cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The NIH lists those withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, seizures, rebound pain, and diarrhea. Have you started taking it, yet? ## Hi there, my last dose of 5mg oxycodone was at noon on a friday. Took 50mg of naltrexone sunday at 6pm. Took away my fatigue and letharic feeling. Feel great. Restless...

My Brother-in-law is a chronic Alcoholic...My sister-in-law has heard of this tablet and wants to give her husband...My main concern is that he is a diabetic patient and is on OHD...will taking this tablet interfere with his diabetes? Thanking you ## Dizone contains the active ingredient Disulfiram, it is used to treat alcoholism by causing severe, unwanted side effects, when someone drinks, such as nausea and diarrhea. And generally, no it isn't recommended in people who are diabetic, because this greatly increases their risk of developing severe liver complications from the medication. My gracious sister offered to give me my daily dose of Antabuse. I gave her the bottle to keep, partly so that she could that the pill description on the bottle matched what she was giving me. I had not had a drink in about 18 hours, and I did not cheek the pill. I swallowed it. I felt the need to test it about 3 hours later. I had a bucket by my side, just in case. Nothing happened. No flushing or vomiting. It has been about 4 hours. Any ideas?

I would like to know if the drug Nalmefene is available in canada and if it is can it be prescribed by a doctor? ## Information I've gathered actually states that Baxter Healthcare Corporation has discontinued production of Revex (Nalmefene HCl Injection). As far as I know, this was the primary manufacturer of Nalmefene, but there may be others out there which I haven't located. I can however verify that Nalmefene was in fact classified as a Prescription Only medication before it was discontinued by this company. I hope this info helps! ## Please, i want to buy Nalmefene to reduce alcohol consumption by my girlfriend, where can i buy in Canada, or can i order it internationally? ## Sam, did you ever find anything out? Dizone contains the active ingredient Disulfiram, which is used to treat alcohol abuse. Seizures aren't a normal side effect of it, it's most common ones include nausea, headache and a metallic taste. However, if he took too much, that could have caused them. There are also risks associated with trying to drink, while taking it. Has he been given a diagnosis? My adult son took 1/4 of a 50MG naltrexone last night and is going through precipitated withdrawals now. He asked me to post the following question. What would happen if he took the another 1/4 later in the day? He is bound and determined to making his doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon for a vivitrol shot. ## Hello, BuckOwen! How is your son doing? He'll likely keep experiencing severe withdrawals. However, the thing you need to be aware of is that precipitated withdrawals can be very dangerous, possibly life threatening. He could even suffer seizures from them. Other typical PW symptoms, as listed by the FDA, may also include fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea and insomnia. What did his doctor tell him to do, before starting the shot? ## Long ago but I hope he is well. Yea...

Hi I am was a long time opiate patient and drinker. I was totally clean for a year but lately have relapsed here and there and drinking 150mg of methadone like once a week. I usually never experienced any withdrawals so I figured I'm good. Anyway I by accident took 2 50mg of naltrexone thinking they were percocet 10s yesterday after coming home real early after drinking quite a bit on a empty stomach and took them within an half hour of partying, and maybe 2 days from taking opiates. I have never been so sick even when I weaned myself off roxys, suboxone, 80mg oxys, and methadone which I would switch on and off if my scripts ran out, etc. Has anyone else done such an idiotic thing and how do I flush this out of my body? I can't eat or drink because it burns my stomach so bad and...

what should we do for the side effects caused by esperal disulfiram tablets?? ## #1 - Esperal is not a tablet. Esperal is a microchip that checks bloodstream for alcohol and if a patient consumes alcohol and this level goes above the normal limits Esperal infuse Disulfiram in a bloodstream. #2 - don't drink while on Esperal and you will have no side effects. #3 - Disulfiram Ethanol Reaction (DER) activated by Esperal lasts for as long as 4-6 hours and can't be stopped.

dosage ## Esperal contains the active ingredient Disulfiram and is most commonly used to treat alcholism. Common side effects may include: nausea, metallic taste in mouth and drowsiness. When treatment is first started, it is usually taken once daily, in a maximum dose of 500mgs for 2 weeks, then adjusted accordingly by your doctor. Are there any comments or questions? ## Esperal contains only 5 crystals of the dry disulfiram. The reaction on this drug is cruel, but the good thing is that if the Esperal patient remains off alcohol, Esperal does not maintain the level of Disulfiram in a blood stream. It works around the clock checking the patient's blood stream for alcohol and only if the concentration of Ethanol goes above 0.08 Esperal drops one crystal of the medicine into the loca...

I have a friend who is fearful of taking the second injection of naltrexone due to the sleeplessness she experienced. My question is, does this side effect diminish with the 2nd injection or does it remain 'about the same'? ## In theory, side effects tend to lessen in severity and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to a medication. However, everyone is different, so there is no way to be sure. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, weight gain, anxiety, diarrhea, and irritability. She should consult her doctor, they may have ideas to help prevent this from happening, or they may be able to provide her with some type of sleep aid. Is she on any other medications?

Hi, I'm in a really bad situation. I have to get the vivitrol shot in 8 days. I used subutex today. I'm so scared of being extremely sick. If I drink a lot of water in the next 8 days will it help clean my system out some so maybe I won't be as sick??? ## Hello, Tinkerbell! How are you? You do need to be in full withdrawal from any opiates, before you can use the Vivitrol. However, after 8 days, in theory you should be fine. It usually only takes a couple of days, for most people, but it would be best to inform your doctor to be safe. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Vivitrol as possibly including nausea, dizziness, administration site soreness, redness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm taking naltrexone after a detox and used opiates....
