Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 51)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

In the past, ironically, it was actually manufactured by Teva

I'm both called Teva USA generics, and I also filled out a complaint on the FDA website.

I encourage anyone who has taken this generic for Adderall do the same!

I absolutely love it. It's the only generic I've ever taken.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO ALERT 60 MINUTES OR ONE OF THE INVESTIGATIVE NEWS TEAMS TO THIS BOARD. THEY HAVE MORE POWER TO PUBLICIZING THIS COMPANIES DECEPTIONS.The media needs to reed all of these peoples complaints. They will higher a private company and expose them
Sadly.I could get this medicine for $10.00 for unbrand, but thankfully my insurance co allows me to pay the higher tier rate $50 to get the brand name. Why pay $10 for medication that does nothing to help me.

James-

I read they don't test the same way as they used to because it's seen as "unethical."

I just can't believe how different one brand is from the next. I used to believe generics were no different, however after my recent experiences I'm 100% sure that there ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BRANDS. It's not a placebo effect for all you non-believers.

Very frustrating. Will be switching to vyvanse

When Barr left Teva the formula changed dramatically. I Saved all my Duane Reed prescription slips and it says Barr/ Teva up until last year in July. Since then Teva only.
Noticed straight away as I'm very sensitive to changes in meds. The "new" ones gives me side effects like I never had before. Hard time sleeping, dry mouth, sweating and eye twitching at the time.
The older Barr version were great! Wish I could find them somewhere

Hi

I have tried the Sandoz XR which is exactly the same as Prasco. Both companies have Authorized Generic agreements with Shire (so Shire makes but Prasco and Sandoz sell it and pay royalty to Shire).

Actually I liked them in the beginning of the month but seemed to lose steam like most Adderall meds. They were clean with little side effects. The issue I have with these are that they are capsules and I prefer the tablets as I can regulate the dosage I want.

With that said, as the present generic IR's generally stink to high heaven, I may go back to these.

Good Luck!

Nick:

What is even more interesting (and, in my opinion, both unacceptable and unethical) is the "testing process" which a generic company completes in order to complete the application (an ANDA) to the FDA, for ultimate approval.

1) The generic company --alone-- performs all the tests to ensure it is commensurate with the Brand. This information is confidential, the results are not available to the public. One only can speculate what the interval and external validity of these tests are...

Bioequivalence, as determined by the ---generic companies "tests" (the exact range or number) is not made public, only provided to the FDA, and can vary + - 20%
from the Brand Name drug.

The position they will tell you is that this range is not "clinically significant"

Another worry:

Once these companies, like Teva, begin producing their drug, most of the time in factories located in third world countries, we must hope they actually produce what they state to the FDA they will. The FDA does not have the resources to check on all plants around the world.

If you visit the FDA site, in the search area, type "warning letters" These letters are where the FDA has indeed inspected a plant, and found standards to be profoundly sub-par.

Teva has received Warning Letters.

It simply makes one worry...and rightly so.....

So the +-20 has to do with the bioavailability in the testing process? Interesting read. I also got out of this that generics "maydifferinshape, color, excipients, release mechanism, packaging, labeling and expiration date":

rwjms.rutgers.edu/education/gsbs/documents/BioequivalenceStudiespp_Nov5_09.pdf

Also some great information on generic requirements and history in this article:

Concerning the plus or -20%, check out something called the hatch-Waxman act and it's regulation concerning bioequivalency of generic drugs.. and the respective standards required

I just picked up the Teva 20's with the dp on the back, circular and orange. Better than Aurobindo by a long shot, but still lacks the essential "kick" of energy I'm used to in the medication.

I called the FDA with questions about the chemical makeup and filler requirements for generics. The rumors about being required to be between a 80-125% margin for active ingredients is false. Fillers can have adverse effects on the body though. In my opinion companies like Aurobindo are not even producing adderall, maybe they are using dirt cheap ingredients?

People need to go to the FDA site and report your issues. They have a form.

You may need to call your pharmacy and get the "lot" number of the bottle in which they dispensed the drug to you. I encourage everyone to either 1) call Teva and submit a report over the phone. You can find the number by googling Teva Usa Generics.

Anyone tried the manufacturer Global?
I have read some positive reviews of it.
I believe it is a subsidiary of Impax

My dilemma is it seems that just about all generic manufacturers of generic Adderall, not just Teva, are facing stark criticism, sometimes actually displaying harsh vitriol in their reviews

Impax's subsidiary Global Pharmaceuticals is a rather new generic for Adderall IR and XR.

Apparently global handles all of Impax pharmaceuticals' generics division.

I have never tried them, but, I don't know what to do! All the alternatives have received very poor reviews.

Back to my original point which was my research into -Teva- and the purpose of my post:

For eight years I have always taken Teva IR generic because out of all manufactures I have tried, it seemed to be the most potent and efficacious (for me).

CorePharma was horrible between the years of 2009 and 2012, then seemed to suddenly improve, but now, of course, it is discontinued, but apparently is still in circulation in limited outlets.

Teva also changed their formula in 2013.

-Important-

When I state they changed their formula, I mean that they applied, with the FDA, for a new ANDA to produce and promote a drug (d- amphetamine salts). The only reason for this would be a -change- to something.

I called Teva and conducted some basic research concerning as to when the last time Teva submitted an application to the FDA, or changed their formula (i.e. a new ANDA).

My research, both by calling Teva personally, and, researching this on the FDA site, indicated they changed it in 2007 and 2013 respectively.

No recent changes can be found, or at least I did not find them.

Interestingly, according to the FDA, -Barr pharmaceuticals- submitted an ANDA to the FDA for mixed amphetamine salts IR in 2013.

This... I cannot explain. Perhaps someone else can. As they were acquired by Teva.

I could not find any recent Teva formula changes, so I can't explain reports with respect to a drop in efficacy/potency.

The only advice that I can give is this: Whatever you do, do not except the manufacturer Mallincrokdt.

Out of every possible generic you can name, this really is horrific, and I mean horrific.

Even though I may regret this advice, I think I would stick with Teva.

- Rationale of my thinking:
_____________________________

Even though the reviews recently have been deleterious for Teva, they aren't -as bad- as many of the other new manufactures of this drug. These reviews are rampant and (invariably) profoundly negative.

I hope this helps in any way.

I have taken Teva IR Adderall for six years. At one time, It was regarded, all over the internet, as the best generic IR available for Adderall. This was between 2008-2014.

I tried Corepharma back in 2012, and it was ---profoundly-- less potent than Teva.

About that same year, they received a Warning Letter from the FDA after an inspection.

The letter cited sub-par quality control in their manufacturing.

It seems, after that, I began reading reviews (for the first time) that were very favorable to Corepharma

Now (and I mean very recently - last 2-4mo, Teva seems untenably weak.

This last refill, I experienced symptoms I have never experienced: severe irritability and depression

Something is very wrong with their product, and the dilemma is:

I have yet to find ----any other generic alternative---- in which people have responded positively.

I called them on the 1st or August and they did comfirm that they (corepharma) are no longer producing IR. I am desperately trying to find alternatives, but I havent found any other type that works for me. Holding onto hope!
