I have been on oxycodone 30 mg 4 times a day for years and it seems not to be working as well. Should it be ok to ask my Dr to up my amount taken daily? ## There are higher doses that your doctor can prescribe, though they likely won't direct you to take it more frequently throughout the day. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. There is also a time released formulation that you can try, if your doctor approves, it is available under the name brand Oxycontin. Are you on any other medications?

I am taking Ibuprofen for knee pain, wrist pain, arthritis. I just want to know how many times a day I need to take it? I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs. I've been taking it twice a day and it has not helped much so I'm really hoping that more will help. I need some relief. ## Hi AJ - the Advil label states: "adults and children 12 years and over; take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist... if pain or fever does not respond to 1 tablet, 2 tablets may be used... do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours, unless directed by a doctor." So, you can technically take up to 2 x 200 mg tablets, 3 times per day. It sounds like you aren't taking that many yet. Also, it is not recommended to take Ibuprofen over a long period of time since it can increase the risk of s...

I've been on dilaudid 4mgs for 9 years for damaged pancreas and now I have hip problems that are very painful, and the pain medication is not controlling the pain.. It's maddening....hopeless. ## Hello, Joy! How are you? I am sorry that you're in so much pain. It goes as high as 32mgs, so there are higher doses you can try. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What other medications have you tried? ## Since the year 2000 I was prescribed 180 60mg at a time of morphine extended release and morphine 15mg extended release three times a day each +184 5mg oxycodone instant release tablets per day. The reason for this is because I jackknifed a forklif...

I ha e an old bottle of oxicodone 5mg that I have been keeping for a rainy day. Well, I just had surgery and the pills are now almost 7 years old. Can I still use them? I live in the desert, so it's very dry. Thanks, ## Hi Alice, While I usually don't condone the use of expired medication, there are several reports (namely one from Harvard University as well as one from the LA Times Newspaper) confidently stating that many medications still retain up to 90% of the active ingredients after 28 to 40 years past their official expiration dates. Hydrocodone was among those medications listed in the LA Times study, and even though Oxycodone was not, my understanding is that it probably still works just fine depending on how it was stored. So in cases like this it seems as though you w...

Hi everyone, this is my first post here but I am looking for some answers and opinions. I am a 21 yo female who was first prescribed Viibryd last year after lifelong GAD. I took 5mg regularly, at dinner, for three months with little to no side effects besides slight insomnia. It seemed to work well but as a forgetful person, I missed my dose many times with no withdrawal. After forgetting to take the Vii, I eventually stopped altogether, I was completely off the Viibryd for about 8 months. After a rough semester at uni, I fell into a depression after becoming ill and missing class. I had the flu for a week, and then bronchitis that I am still recovering from (this was two-now almost three- weeks ago!!). I began the medication again, about one week after getting the flu. I now take it be...

How many hours apart should you take nitrofurantoin suspension - 4 hours? It's for a 5 year old girl, for a urinary tract infection. ## Taking it 4 times daily would be around 6 hours apart. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea. How is she doing? Has there been any change?

i have been on tetrecycline for 10 years then stopped over night, ever since i have aching feet, elbows and general aching feeling very old, only stopped because i was told my teeth would go grey ## Why were you taking it for so long? What you're experiencing are probably some withdrawal and rebound effects, because your body does get used to any medication that you take regularly for that long of a period of time. Learn more Tetracycline details here. It is amazing that your teeth didn't turn odd colors quite awhile, as Tetracycline is very well known to cause that. ## Have you taken an acne drug during your past. Accutane is many times the culprit of joint pain. Propionbacterium acnes is the bacteria that cause it. An Xray or MRI will not show it. I recently started takin peni...

Hi My daughter has 2 bottle of amoxicillin in the refrigerator. Never used but already mixed. The pink one. The expiration date in the bottle says January 2018. Will it still be good to use? The actual date mixed was July 18 2016 ## In my opinion it should be perfectly fine to take. I say this because I would personally feel comfortable taking it based on the info you provided. Depending on storage conditions many prescriptions can reportedly last up to 40 years after the listed expiration date (with few exceptions such as tetracycline). Harvard University and the LA Times both have articles online recognizing this... But since it's not even January 2018 yet I wouldn't even begin to question its efficacy (especially because it has been refrigerated)... Does anyone else have thou...

I have suffered from Syphilis now for the 8th year. Please advise me on what I can do for treatment? Will Eryocin 250 help? I'm worried. ## Has a doctor diagnosed you as having syphilis? Did they tell you take this medication? Generally, in modern times this condition is easy to treat an eradicate. It does not usually linger for so many years. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of most antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Are you on any other medications?

Have been taking 250 mg capsules 4 and now three times per day for 20 years for seizures that started at 35 yrs. due to pregnancy.Baby was fine but seizures continued though now, with pills not for many years. Should I try and reduce and end to try something else as I am 60 yrs. old now. ## Hi Cindy, I think it's great that you are reassessing the situation and are open to suggestions. From an outside perspective, I would only continue to take the medication if natural alternatives and/or healthy dietary changes are not conducive options. I would also consider getting blood work done or any other type of health evaluation to determine if this medication is having a negative effect on your overall well-being. Listen to your body and go with your gut on whether or not it is negatively...

Is it safe to take or has it expired? ## This medication does not become dangerous once expired, but it does lose effectiveness over time.
