I have always got the yellow 4mg Dilaudids and they worked great. This month I got white ones (4mg) that are manufactured by Mallinckrodt. They don't work at all. I need to take two to even get any relief and it is not much. What is the difference between the two? ## @iceangel, Usually when you receive a tablet that looks different from what you're used to getting, it's often the result of differences in the list of inactive ingredients; even if the dosage remains the same. If you happen to know the imprint on both tablets I can post a list of binders/fillers used in each one for a closer look at what makes them different aside from the apparent yellow dye. From what I've been led to believe, certain types of fillers can't actually be metabolized by our bodies and be...

i am currently unable to fill my Dilaudid 2mg due to no pharmacies carrying it. My dr has tried everything and feels that Dilaudid would be my best bet for pain control. I have a mass in my stomach and in severe pain. Due to not being able to find the Dilaudid I have to go to the ER every other day for pain injections and hydration. Any advice? ## Beck have you tried a compounding pharmacy? You may also try to get the social worker at the hospital to help you with resources. Can you fill your rx at the hospital where you are being treated? ## Hi Beck, I understand that none of the pharmacies you've checked carry it in their stores, but have you also considered mail-order options through Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and others? It may take longer to arrive, but at least there would be a...

My pain Mgmt. doc. stopped giving me dilaudid 2mg, 5 times a day and fioricet 2 times a day as my urine always came back negative. I mean, she just cut me off and I am afraid as I do not know or understand what I will experience. Can someone please explain to me what all to expect as I do not see another pain mgmt. doc. for four months. Thanks for listening to my problems, Sally ## Hi I feel that we're in a similar situation, as my prescribed Xanax more than most of the time comes back negative in my UA -a few times I actually ran out of them 2 days before my dr.visit and I told him that I had taken a half a few times during the month do to just felling I needed it. I'm prescribed one .25mg and one half a day which comes out to a very small dose of .375 daily. I've been warn...

On day 4 of cold turkey Dilaudid withdrawals. Severe back pain sufferer. Was on 24mg/day for about 18 mos. Brutal. So tired I can barely move, add to that the back pain with limited muscle support and you start to get the picture. Worse symptoms have been diarrhea, insomnia, headaches, mental strangeness and I'm in too much of a general fog to remember what else. Only reason I've slept at all in the past 3 days is Temazepam. But at best an hour or two at a time. Not a natural narcotics lover. No pain, no drugs. Have Diaz and Temaz for a general insomnia problem anyway. Plus if you don't sleep and have a pain problem you're toast. To be completely honest, my doctor is a total F***ing A****le and a quack. I live in a rural area and there's no choices except this idiot ...

I have been dependent on dilaudid for about a year and a half, and currently my doctor is trying to wean me off the 8mg pills by taking one off a week. I am now on 3/day. Next week I go to 2/day, but I cannot sleep and find it very very hard to get off this drug. ## My experience may sound a bit unorthodox and downright idiotic. I knew several people who where able to kick opioids. You should know there is no way to safely and happily stop. It is called precipitated withdraw with amphetamines. Basically you do not wean off of the opioid; you take a full antagonist. Sit in the bathtub for 2-3 days then start a small dose of desoxyn. Your pain will stay with you for a while; the amphetamine will help keep you from ruminating and stabilize your sleep. Also you could try wellbutrin. The tra...

My husband has been seeing the same Dr. for 12 years or more, yet he refuses to write an RX for Norco but Will continue writing them for Dilaudid, morphine, exalgo, and allot of other schedule 2 prescriptions. This makes no sense. My husband had the entire right side of his body crushed in a car accident in 1984. He's had several spine and neck fusions and has sever chronic pain. In a notification I read on the internet, people were supposedly given a chance to voice their concerns. I don't remember getting that chance. I also suffer from chronic pain due to a moderate form of Sppina beffita. What do you do in a situation like this? ## Hello, Kat! How are you and your husband? I"m sorry about the problems that you're having. Is the doctor refusing to prescribe him anythi...

Does anyone know why Dilaudid doesn't make me sleepy anymore? When I first started taking it I was very drowsy and now I don't fall asleep anymore. Nor do I get drowsy. Is this normal? ## Hello, Katrail! How are you? Such side effects usually only last for a few weeks, while your body is getting used to the medication, then they taper off. Thus, it shouldn't make you drowsy, all the time, if you're taking it regularly. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? They may be able to prescribe something to help you sleep. ## This is common with opiates. Usually if you are taking it for too long your body...

Joplin or near joplin mo pain dr that will prescribe dilaudid and norco that dosent cost $ 500 for the first visit ## I'm sorry, but really that's about the average for most specialists. Do you have insurance to cover it? Learn more Norco details here. Can anyone else suggest someone that may be a bit cheaper? The only other suggestion I can make, if you don't have insurance, is to contact your local hospitals and see if they have a social work department. The people there often have a list of resources to help people that don't have insurance, so they can get the medical care they need. They may even know of a clinic that can help that has a sliding fee scale. ## Who is the doctor in Joplin? I live in Joplin, MO and have been to countless pain management specialists tha...

What kind of a pill has the number ten on one side and the letter U and the numbers 358 on the other side? ## I think the U is really a lowercase 'n'. The one I have has 10 in the middle on one side, 358 and a score mark in the middle of the pill, and a lowercase n on the left side. It is white and oval, kinda bigger than normal Vicodin. ## A white oval pill imprinted with "n | 358" on one side and "10" on the other is reportedly identified as Hydrocodone bitartrate (10 mg) + Acetaminophen (325 mg). For verification, the manufacturer is listed as Novel Laboratories Inc. and the pill itself carries a National Drug Code of 40032-358. Also, if turned upside down, the "n" could easily be mistaken for a "U" as depicted in Carrie's post. I hope this...

I have been on dilaudid since March due to severe back pain and surgery. I am slowly getting off but noticed that my hair is thinning very rapidly on top. Anyone else have this proble,? ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, which is a potent narcotic analgesic. Have you consulted your doctor? Hair loss is not a known side effect of this medication, but there are several other people that reported experiencing it, while taking it and there is really no way to say how any given medication will affect any one individual. However, if it is being caused by the medication, then in theory, it should improve, as you continue to lessen your use of it and discontinue the medication. ## I was looking up Dilaudid and hair loss, because that is the only thing that has changed in ...

Does anyone in the Denver area know where I can go to get Dilaudid prescribed? I have back issues and can't get my hands on strong enough meds yet. New to Colorado. ## Dilaudid is rarely prescribed for chronic pain. This will be hard to find in any state. ## We normally don’t prescribe Dilaudid for chronic pain. We usually reserve this potent medication for acute pain and as an adjunct to anesthesia. Dilaudid has a very short duration of action, while it does relieve pain within seconds after injection, it’s not the optimal treatment for chronic conditions.

That's awful! I am so sorry! There are actually 2 reasons for these issues. Instead of contacting doctors and adjusting the prescriptions to the proper amounts, they just filled them anyway. As ...

I've had dilaudid before it HELPED THIS DOES NOT. WHAT IS THE PUR ON THE END. PLEASE HELP. ## In case anyone else is seeking information on this tablet: The Pur was an abbreviation for the manufacturer of the tablets in question, that is also what the pd on one side of the pill stood for, Purdue Pharma LP. However, this tablet has been discontinued. Original NDC: 59011-0458 According to FDA records, these tablets contained 8mgs of Hydromorphone, which is a narcotic analgesic. Hi, my brother has rectal cancer. They did the surgery and now he has a poop bag and is waiting for his chemo treatments. They say his white blood cells aren't producing enough to do the chemo. He is addicted to Dilaudid. Not sure of the mg., but he administers it at least 3-4 times a day. He knows he's addicted. He doesn't know that I know of his problem. My question is, "do Dilaudid's affect the white blood cells?" If so that would be why he's not getting better. ## Dilaudid, which contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone isn't usually known to affect one's immune response in such a manner. Ref: Dilaudid and Immune Response Study As to him using it 3 to 4 times a day, cancer can be very painful, so can the treatments, so pain relief is usually n...

Dalaudid is the only medication I have found that helps relieve the pain in my bones from the cancer, and it helps me live a somewhat normal life so I can still get up and around. I have a pain pump implanted about 1 1/2 months ago. Pain dr. is increasing Dilaudid 1mg/ml every two weeks. I am also taking Gabapentin 300 mg 2 times a day, 2 capsules each time. Are there side effects from taking the Dilaudid through pain pump and orally Gabapentin? I have had swelling in my feet, ankles and legs since the pain pump was implanted. ## Is your doctor aware of this swelling? The FDA does warn that you should check with your doctor, if that occurs, as you may need to try a different medication.
