Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 15)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

Jerry Brown is a dirty word here. How he got in none of us knows. He is hated by almost everyone. I do not know one person who voted for him.

Our papers had an article that stated very sick crippled people were being dumped from a medical truck late at nigh onto the side walk. and they were not able to walk and had no wheel chairs. The hospitals did this. When it gets in the papers things are very very bad. Mentally ill patients are dumped and beaten in our jails. Reading the paper and watching the news is depressing.

Chronic pain patients are now being treated like addicts.

I thank God every day I went to my PCP and talked to him. He said he treats his patients the way they need to be treated and no one is going to tell him what to do. I wish everyone could say the same thing.

Dr Joey when I had my A1C they asked me if I would allow a new nurse in training to draw my blood. I felt bad because she was not getting anyone to agree. I said Yes. That was a mistake. She kept twisting the needle back and forth. I can take a lot of pain but she was not getting blood. They have to use my hands because my veins are so small. Finally I said it was too painful. The male nurse came in and it was painless and fast. This nurse was from Iran and she could not speak much English. She apologized and I said " Everyone has a bad day." She felt bad but from now on I want an experienced nurse.

Hi Everyone this will be a short one (left a longer one when it is clear on dental Oxycontin post) but wanted to correct something in regards to Prescription Monitoring and private pain contracts.

1. Make sure that you understand the pain contract you may or may not sign with a PM specialist.
2. If you have questions or do not agree speak with your physician or NP, then politely for example ask "may I cross through this sentence and write what we discussed in with an initial?"
3. Make a copy and keep on your person; I also carry a brief medical history with me in case I pass out or end up in an ER (which this nurse avoids like the plague I hate hospitals).
4. Prescription monitoring is nationwide BUT is not directly related to your private pain contract at all. Your physician will use that contract and what he or she considers an error on you at any time he or she feels your case is too complex, or "it's time to reduce these high opioid users in my practice."

Also in difficult times when physicians are gun shy due to the FDA suggestion on 120 mg. morphine equivalent changing physicians is insanity if you are cared for and have few complaints keep him or her for now it is no time to switch without good coverage. But say you've gotten in with a great physician (finally) and know you will adore him or her (not all the best have good bedside manner they usually do not), and write a letter stating you are changing physicians on such and such date, and know that "change of physician" invalidates any private medication contract you previously had (such and such date until the date of stopping care with this physician.) LEGALLY no one can harm you on either side.

Dang this is not as short as I wanted! The other issue many are having is a UA showing medication or illegal drugs they were not on. Ok make sure "chain of custody" is not lost on any specimen you provide. Legally if your physician on occasion sends out UA to these fancy drug hot labs (they make huge bucks on evaluating athletes and police officers and write specialized reports) you should remain with the sealed specimen and the physician until the transport literally comes to pick it up (FEDEX or UPS) and then "chain of custody" is complete. I will mention the one big lab in Tennessee is rife with dirty issues; when I did my legal brief for my comp situation the nutball physician they used to meet me during all this broke chain of custody but you will LOVE this...I am checking medical report and lab result which had to be sent from the physician to the Attorney General's office then the AG has to review and submit to the Judicial Court (for Workers Comp in each state) and the FREAK show who I know was paid by the employer to do the dirty work had a lab dated a DAY EARLIER then I was present for the appointment.

The appointment was out of state. I could not have peed in that container a day before; I mean I've had accolades on some miracles I've been behind in this life but urinating 24 hours earlier is not one of them you know? Further since this is a paid IME a doctor who has no credibility other then taking people in pain from work injuries or car accidents and writing explicit reports to dispute the true medical condition of the people they are paid to review. They are paid such high amounts of money to destroy a patient it would make your head spin...

Well I made motion to remove the lab of course! My intent of course had nothing to do with the lab there were no illegal medications it was the inferences made about my former top specialist in the U.S. and further this birdbrain has no knowledge of P450 results; my card which I carry at all times shows my specific DNA abnormalities not my normalcy. The entire DNA report is sent to the physician who ran the diagnostic in a binder so he can know to the letter which medications work for example and other results so this dork city IME is doing all he can to remove of course my most expensive medication LA because that is what the employer is paying him for.

So your physician is disputing a UA and suddenly cutting medication in half or worse pushing you out the back door and you have nothing. Stay as calm as possible, review in your mind immediately the truth was this UA clean and was I only on my prescribed medications and if "yes" tell the physician right now do not leave or it will be over you must take action now (and wait if they say he is busy until the end of the day if you must to make the point) that "Dr. I am willing to take a UA now, 24 hours a day at your request but that cannot be my specimen or result. This has to be a mix up, the specimen was not in custody when you told me you'd see me next month and I left the office before UPS came, and without medication I might as well die you know the level of my pain. I've been with you five years Dr. So and So come on think about this.

If you let it go then you will go trust me. It is a shame totally that we as a population of those in IP (intractable pain) are being treated like a waste product rather then human beings fighting suicidal pain on a daily basis. Ok I am out for now my best to all :)

To Everyone just in case you did not know Odumma who professed early on to rid our ranks in America of the chronically ill (do not treat) has offered physicians HUGE financial incentives for not treating chronic conditions. I would like to know the details for it has gotten to the point where we have gone from the greatest country in the world, treating diseases and disorders other countries could not treat to the SLUMLORD where now physicians are the enemy not your friend.

How can a physician accept a financial incentive not to treat you to make his bank account bigger well it is now in progress. For the many in this uncertain time of FDA restrictions NOW we also have this.

Perhaps it already is happening with pain specialists if so then I hate to tell you the many lives I've saved knowing that our scientific research has shown that opioids re the SAFEST and financially acceptable way to treat intractable pain (people in most cases have higher quality of life and can return to work, lower divorce rates, etc.) then I guess if we are becoming (America) a police state where this elected leader and any pain patient who voted for this roaring rectum gets what he or she deserves, is no different than Hitler massacring and destroying an entire population of innocent people.

Jew, Christian, Pain patient?

Our religion now forsakes us. If they are receiving money to NOT treat I have no answers now for I stand behind research and the MANY physicians I once referred people to. I believe a few with HUGE egos (bigger than Odumma) will forsake him but unless he is removed there is no end in sight.

Hospital ER's will bankrupt you the average visit for doing NOTHING and legally now they do not have to give you a shot is well over $10,000. That is a huge waste of time.

I thought he and Hillary needed to be tried for murder for what happened to our Ambassador, I've seen and know of things this person does that no leader in this country has ever done. Wake up and when you try to see a physician realize he or she may be getting paid to take you out.

Jasmine Odumma cannot affect federal funding on Medicaid which is done state by state. If California loses any of their federal funding it is being done inherent to your Governor (and I think it is the DEA witch hunter Jerry Brown who is your problem I saw Dr. F. Tennant in California the past five years my case is so severe I can die from pain) and make no mistake Odumma is not your curse in California.

California spends inordinate money on nothing important then cries a river when there is no funding. The biggest problem is the magnitude of wealth in the film industry, music industry and now silicon valley (computer industry) and the total lack of care for the homeless. Only in California are the homeless allowed to legally beg and if you give them a $5 bill will return it stating "I cannot get a roll of toilet paper for this thanks I take nothing less than a $20." If you are on Medicaid and need indigent care you might seek out living in Virginia for example where Medicaid even covers penis enlargements for men who are depressed due to small anatomy and Viagra. I kid you not.

People these days are being taught indigent or free rides work and that is based on Odumma attempting to disempower America and her people. He is a plague that can be cured if he and his tawdry lot were put on a large banana boat aimed toward Cuba where he might get taught a bit of his own dream of socialism.

My dear Jasi,

I'm a Type II Diabetic and never "got stuck" more than once for the HA1C. and zillion other blood tests.

Thank you both for the valuable information.

Dr Joey I know that many people are not honest and I am careful about taking reviews too seriously.

Right now I am getting what I need to get by. I know there are people who are on more pain medication, but as long as I can do the things I need to do,I am going to stay with my program. I doubt anyone here gets the pain relief that they really need.

Health care is so bad right now. I had a simple blood test for my A1C this morning and I am punctured in three places.

I read that Obama is trying to cut off some funding of Medi Cal also called Medicaid here in my state and Medicare recipients will get cuts too. My MIL will lose one check in a year. She has no pension.

Jasmine DDD is one of the worst pain syndromes mine is end stage and have over 400 diagnoses directly related to my work injury in the 90's. DDD is basically if you can imagine shards of glass touching nerves and muscle; it can and does to me cripple me at times and also folks with OA and DDD shed Ca2 (sorry Calcium) so they throw stones (yeppers kidney stones) more often. Patients who tend to be overweight and more sedentary NOT treated for pain even suffer more.

CMS is your huge regulatory body formerly known as HCFA am sure Joey and I remember the earlier name since we both are not kiddo's which I am glad to say with some authority. They control Medicare program through what was once called Healthcare Financing Administration. Each state shows off about financing Medicaid but without financing (50% sometimes more if a State has astute financial controllers) from the Feds no state can implement Medicaid. Some states came under fire in recent years (Ohio is one) for I had specifically written medications I felt would work for several RSD'ers that I initially evaluated (thorough medical history and on line physical examination of discolorations etc.) and their PM specialists diagnosed based on my history of them in my support settings. As most know getting that diagnosis is difficult but I've always had a HIGH trust factor with the physicians who come across me and vice versa. So I had one woman in her 30's who did well on Duragesic and most with RSD need some Oxycodone for either PRN or LA but to use two opioids always hits different receptors allowing for better coverage.

Suddenly Medicaid decided this patient could not have brand well we all know from my earlier post that brand 100 mcg/hour patch gives you 16.7 mg. Fentanyl; Watson only 10.0 mg., Mallinkroft 11.0 mg. A brand 75 mcg/hour patch gives 12.8 mg. Fentanyl so now I'm dealing with a woman who must go to generic and LOSING pain control and suffering withdrawal. Her GP was doing her PM so I wrote a note we increased her from the 75 mcg/hour to all 100 (she had been on both) and allowed 6 BT doses of morphine as opposed to 4. Did I mention they were cutting out Oxycontin for Medicaid folks as well.

OIG is Office of the Inspector General since I've done interim CNO and DON positions around the country if I had bad status with OIG I could not operate in leadership or even as a licensed medication nurse. Not even a CNA. This can occur more so for physicians through fraudulent attacks (double billing) but here is the kicker it appears these days under Odumma SSA and OIG and DOJ have more financial impact on suffering Americans due to this piss poor economy so they are actively reducing program costs by throwing the innocent disabled off the ranks.

Shards of glass exactly what DDD does. We have no surgery to fix this process so the guy with OA is suffering and one Norco a day certainly won't cut it. The issue is Oregon is a cold state just like Louisiana used to be. I was shocked to see how many pill mills were running rampant over in Coon Azz State I'm currently living on the border so need a referral and saw a few physicians (none up to the caliber of the famous Dr. T who I was seeing in California) but most would be interested in the complexity of my case.

Jasmine: Don't trust patient reviews. I'm sure I've had some (actually, I"ve seen them) that describe me as "cold," "uncaring" "does not listen to the patient." Now, I never claimed to be Jeanne Dixon, but the tell-tales they left let know these were puts I would not let tell me what to prescribe and how much. And I do accept suggestions. "Doc, I was on Klonopin before and it did work pretty good." I usually have the other docs's name and telephone # on the patient info sheet and ask if I can get more details. If I can right then, I will,; otherwise, theres a telepathy that we shrinks develop (nothing close to forma) where the other guy tells me if this one;s a drug seeker or abuser. In that instance said, "Bill's a good guy, very responsible. I don;t think I had the skills to help him as much as I should have. He responded well to Klonopin." Translation: The guy's not looking for benzes ti arty with and this doc is exceptionally honest." TAKE ALL PT. REVIEWS WITH A 1/4 TON OF SALT, JASMINE, DEAR!

Thank you Dr Joey and P450

I have to learn what OIG is and CMS. I am just learning the medical short cuts. I had no idea what P450 meant when she said she has DDD and I saw it means Degenerative Disc Disease which I have myself.

I was really pis-d off today on the community channel when a physician stated that DDD and herniated bulging discs cause no pain. He said it is all in the muscle. People pay to have that channel on. He also stated MRI's are useless.

The people in this country are being punished for having pain.

You definitely have that right, my friend! I have a dissertation read and decide whether to accept as it or require revisions. I'm the first because the topic is in my area of expertise. I got my PhD from another university, not the same one where I earned my MD and, while they're were courses I could waive or do research in lieu of, a for-real original research dissertation was expected and required. I don't like the "tack on" degrees conferred by medical school with double-dipping credits and double-credit for the same work. I got a call from a close buddy who said, "You're the English expert and you're there psychopharm exert. We're looking' for reasons to reject this dissertation because he's getting a second doctorate literally for no additional work. You know research, too, but if your not sure, check with your Moms. She helped me with my dissertation research." He was one of the professional friends I had nettled of my mother's death in May 2015. I barely chocked the words out and he offered to keep her and me in his prayers, closing with, "Linda Carter looked like Wonder Woman; your Moms WAS Wonder Woman, bro. Call me if you need me or any meds."

Hi, Jasmine! Sorry about that. I was referring to the drug TRAMADOL (Ultram in the US). It came on the market here in the 1990s and in the course of doing a little research, I was REALLY surprised to find it has been a valuable (presumably on Rx only) in a number of European countries since the early 1970s

He was referring to my research Jasmine. Most physicians are more in line with Medicare or CMS credentials. If a physician lacks CMS capacity in billing they are usually on the OIG list.

Once on the OIG list you might as well hang up the lab coat and hitch hike.

Pardon me Jasmine, many drugs were created in foreign markets first in fact long acting Dilaudid has been used successfully in Canada for years we had it for about 8 months before they (FDA) nixed it and removed it from the American market.

Why? Fear of overdose but clearly in America the only OD important is the addicts abusing medications prescribed for proper patients not the patients taking it who do not OD.

We also discussed high seizure threshold so I am sure Joey like myself reads several pages back another phobia we have in the medical industry keeping track of documentation.

Doctor Joey could you please address the person to whom you are speaking to? I was trying to figure out your last comment is about. what you said something was available in Europe. I scrolled down and see nothing regarding that. I am just puzzled.

Thanks

Would you believe its been on the market in Europe — at least in some places —since the 1970s!

I fired a veteran RN "for cause" for referring to a 18-y/o kid as a "lousy junkie". She had just been named Employee of the Month. Hr excuse? She was an ?OR nurse covering for an absent colleague, This kid was y private patient too so she really did the wrong thing. There were hearings and such but my hidden Ace was that I"d filed with the /Office of Professional Conduct if she didn't go quietly and surrender her license for one year. (Docs in tx can dip that with a time limit.) She didn't like it, but she'd have to live with it. I was so F-----g appalled that I called her out in my :lecture voice" in front of other staff, the patient, etc. How could she think that I 25 feet away — would think this is even close to OK?

I have to apologize Dr Hursey is in Salem Oregon. I saw many links and it looks like she may have changed her location.

I am seeing what a problem you have in Portland. I hope you can find out more about Doctor Daniel T Jones.

BL is right. But one of the doctors sounds like she will write for anyone. That is what I was looking for. There is a long wait but if a person is in a lot of pain then it is up to that person to decide. Woodburn is in Oregon and I looked at a map and it is about 25 miles from Portland. Check out Yelp. I wish I could have copied and pasted.

Check out both and also the other name given here.
