Metoprolol 100mg Er (and No Hbp!) Pharmacy Mixed It In With Metformin! (Top voted first)

Updated

On Oct 16th 2016 I got my normal Metformin 90 day supply. I was feeling (over the next 2 months) like an elephant was on my chest & couldn't walk more than 15-to 20 ft without feeling as though I was going to black out. On Dec. 30th eve I noticed my dose was scored, not Metformin. That's when I caught it! Never had High Blood Pressure & am 54. I normally fill 2 weeks at a time (pill containers) & nightly a week. I take 2 in the a.m. & 2 at night. So they were mixed in & not knowing what or how many - all unknown. But when I caught it, it was 2 Metoprolol 100 ER! So looking at the rest of that week & 2 nights, 2 to 3 out of 4 mornings, I had 1 with Metformin. The next a.m dose #31 I almost took 2 more Metoprolol 100 mg Er! I am totally disgusted! I have not felt well since! On top of this I have Autoimmune disease & my palettes have been extremely LOW for the last 4 yrs.. around 70-90. Plus Thyroid Disease & diabetes. Which Diabetes is looking great again now. I am only taking 1 Glucophage a.m. & 1 p.m., Plus 1 Glyburide. But NOW I have had since late Feb a higher blood pressure. This last few weeks have been HIGH. 162/90 & then 5 mins later 142/78 HR is all normal. Resting HR 62 & during BP check around 73-88 depending. Problem is I can't take HBP meds for other reasons. So any ideas as to why I would ALL of the sudden have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE? Please help... All the docs JUST want to put me on meds & that's it. Give me a band aid.

What alerted you to the fact that you were taking the wrong medication? What were the markings on the tablets? Did you inform your pharmacy?

Diabetes and high blood pressure often go hand in hand, so it can be normal to develop it as times goes by, when you are diabetic.

What are the reasons you can't take HBP medications?

The FDA warns that the typical side effects of Metoprolol may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

I am not trying to discount what you're experienced, or say that I don't believe you, please don't misunderstand. I'd just like to help you get to the root of the chain of problems that may have occurred, which requires covering all based, if possible.

Hi. So sorry took so long to read this. I haven't been on pc as to not feeling up to it. This is a Desktop. Anyhow I happen to notice that under the stove light one of the 2 I was about to take was scored. The Metformin's aren't! So got readers on & they are white, round, scored on 1 side, other is like a triangle with 832 stamped on it.

Yes, went & talked to manager at Pharm & showed & took photos of time found etc. Said after 3 wks that tape was reviewed & no way they could have... You know the drill I am sure. Total denial. Am still dealing with them on it. But I most certainly didn't do it nor do I know ANYONE on them. I only have 2 friends down here. Spouse & 1 other. I've tried BP meds & make me ill. Light headed, itchy, more nausea then before, dry cough (beta blocker) Plus with Synthroid it has a bad reaction on me. I'm so sensitive. I've had to go to a lot of BRAND name meds due to allergic reactions to one or more of fillers. Unknown. Is strange. A few things am able to take off brand. I think Glyburide is 1. My diabetes isn't typical. I 1st in 1997 started with these symptoms (I hope maybe someone this may hit & recognize) I had chronic Body Flu like symptoms. Started off ever 3 mo. Then it got shorter & shorter in time. Till it felt like severe FLU that would last 2+ wks. Throat sore.. body aches fever.. weak. Then by the 2nd yr chronic sinusitis. I had been working at AOL ph support & remember 2 other people having really similar symptoms but never got there names or talked with them. Word of mouth. At the time with no insurance I was going to University hospital in Denver.

When it was on Colorado Blvd. they NEVER ran blood work in those 5 yrs! Dr. Dalton, I always would ask why aren't you taking blood... Unclear as to why. Just we don't do that. Crazy. But anyhow... I got insurance & was able to go to my Internal Med doc that I'd seen 17 yrs earlier. Fate. Blood work showed Liver Disease. my Sgot's liver functions were in the high 300 to 400's. To this day they aren't normal. I didn't drink much so wasn't issue. They Thought Hepatitis, (negative) or Lyme's, over a yr had so many tests then a Liver biopsy. Stage 4 portal to portal fibrosis, then stage 2 cirrhosis. & more wording. In short my liver was not rejuvenated itself. Cause..? Auto immune Liver Disease. My Liver was so inflamed that my rib was bruised with sharp pains. I've had 4 biopsies over these yrs.. (moved to FL in 2005, worst mistake as far as doctors) Some doctors had said it's all due to I was over weight. obese pushing 300pds. that was cause. Then 6 to 9 months later another blood test showed out of control Diabetes 2 A1C 12.9. Then within 6 months Graves Disease. They ran the mri, cats, on & on & on...Checking pituitary, Gallbladder, pancreas... Within that yr 2003-2004 I Lost 128 pds & I started getting sick on the Glucophage & Glyburide. Went off of (doc approval) them & no sign of Diabetes at all for 7 whole yrs. During all of this over the yrs never had a BP issue. Till after those pills being mixed in. Strange. Also my diabetes strike it's head up since 2006 I started to gain a bit. 45 pds now due to spine issues & pain & unable to work out at all anymore. That's been since 2008.. Again no BP issues. Sorry to go over my life history. I am hoping that someone will read this & might have happened or something close to my story of medical issues & the meds mixed in & BP.
