I have some white oblong white tablets scored on one side and printed M525 on the other. I believe these are Ascend Labs Metformin HCL ER 500 mg tablets from a couple of months ago that I didnt finish up when I got my refill prescription. They also could be a different brand that the pharmacy used to fill my prescription. ## These tablets are manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 120mgs of Diltiazem. The FDA classifies this medication as a calcium channel blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Metformin not being digested

I take Metformin 500 mg twice a day.Recently I have noticed that the pills are in my stool not digested.I have noticed my glucoses are not stable. What could be causing this and does anyone else experience this. ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? Are there any markings on the tablets that you're taking? Are they by chance time released ones? If so, then what you are seeing in your stool is just the outer shell. It isn't intended to be digested, but the medication is released and used by your body. The FDA lists this as an oral antidiabetic medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. What have your numbers been?

can i use tab.Metformin for weight reduction? i wanted to know the side effects of Metformin ## I wouldn't count on using an anti-diabetic drug for weight loss. Your best bet is a healthy change in eating habits and regular exercise. A pill won't lose the weight for you. Sorry to sound blunt, but it would be ignorant to think otherwise. As far as side effects go...the most common adverse effect of metformin is gastrointestinal upset, including diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting and increased flatulence; metformin is more commonly associated with gastrointestinal side-effects than most other anti-diabetic drugs. The most serious potential side-effect of metformin use is lactic acidosis; this complication is very rare, and the vast majority of these cases seem to be related to com...

metformin smells ## Yes, Metformin is well known to have an odor and it can vary, somewhat, from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some of them seem to smell like old fish and others like dirty sweaty socks. It really doesn't make it a very appealing medication to use and it has so nauseated some people, that they were forced to quit using it. The odor is especially prominent in the new instant release versions of the medication. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## My Metformin has a distinct grape smell. Its not unpleasant at all *smiles ## That's good to know because mine smells and tastes like grape also. I was concerned that the drug had been altered accidentally in some way. I really like the grape taste compared to what is was before!!

why does it smell like fish? ## I got my script refilled the other day and the new one smells like fish too! My first bottle (different manufact) did not smell like fish. Beginning to wonder if it is of good quaility ## It is an odor from one of the fillers they use in making the medication, nothing to worry about. Since each company that makes the generic version of med can use different fillers, then some might have the odor and some won't. ## Yes, it is too something to worry about! With all the horrible cheap fillers being used these days by money grubbing foreign countrues - killing our animals and probably us too. The brand I got from Walgreens is fine - even old pills dont take on a smell. But the cheap kind sold by Walmart and as I know of, Strogers hospital in chicago smell...

Does this medicine help loose weight while trying to control my diabetes. I have like a burning in throat and belch like acid, is this normal? ## Hello, Wanda! How are you? By improving control of your blood sugar and your insulin resistance, you may experience some weight loss, but you will still have to eat healthy and get plenty of proper exercise. The FDA classifies this as an oral antidiabetic medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, flatulence, headache, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. So yes, the acidity is normal, as well. Is there anything else I can help with?

What does Metformin 1000 mg look like in all forms? ## Metformin is a generic medication, so it is manufactured by several different companies and they will all have different markings to enable their identification, thus there is really no way I could post what all of them look like and the descriptions. Just to give you a few examples... White, oblong, 93 on one side, 7214 on the opposite. White, oblong, GP 128. I am 46 and suddenly had a sugar spike to over 315 ( fasting), triglycerides over 300; have been put on a jalra -m 50/1000 dose twice daily. Feeling weak with muscle weakness but doc sez is normal. Anyone with same symptons ## Jalra-M contains the active ingredients Vidagliptin and Metformin, both of which are oral antidiabetic medications. And yes, those symptoms can be normal for two reasons, one is the medications themselves, they can cause side effects, just the same as any other medication. And the second is due to the fact that your sugar was so high and is now being brought lower. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am 80 years old and i had hypoglycaemia Dr prescribed JALRA 50/1000 twice a day before the time of high sugar and now my sugar level fasting 120 and ...
