Hepatitis Overview

Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver tissue.[3] Some people have no symptoms whereas others develop yellow discoloration of the skin and whites of the eyes, poor appetite, vomiting, tiredness, abdominal pain, or diarrhea.[1][2] Hepatitis may be temporary (acute) or long term (chronic) depending on whether it lasts for less than or more than six months.[5][1] Acute hepatitis can sometimes resolve on its own, progress to chronic hepatitis, or rarely result in acute liver failure.[6] Over time...

Harvoni withdrawal symptoms

anyone having problems after stopping harvoni? ## Hello, Kat! How are you? What type of symptoms are you experiencing? I'm not seeing anything about it causing withdrawal symptoms, but it is a relatively new drug. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, diarrhea, headache and weakness. Withdrawal effects would usually be virtually opposite, so may include constipation, dizziness and drowsiness. How long were you on it? ## Hello, I also am having withdrawel feelings, I am constantly tired, I feel fatiqued, slight head ache, have a sick feeling in my stomach I completed the the Harvoni treatment, I pretty much had these same feelings on the Harvoni. I saw my doctor 2 weeks ago, he had me do some blood work, I go back this morning to see him, I hope he has s...

harvoni and marijuana

will marijuana interfere with harvoni treatment? ## Throughout treatment you may be given a drug panel and, should you come back positive, it can compromise your continued treatment (getting your medication...). I certainly wouldn't risk it. ## @Pepper, As far as potential drug interactions are concerned, I haven't seen documented research suggesting that there's any risk involved with marijuana and harvoni. So my personal opinion is that because you know your body better than anyone else and how these drugs might be affecting you individually (from previous experience - assuming this isn't your first time taking either substance), perhaps a suggestion would be to start with a much smaller dose than you'd typically have for the sake of understanding how your body res...

I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you ## Hi Tony, From what I've researched, "lower back pain" is specifically listed as one of the more common side effects of Sofosbuvir (the second active ingredient in Harvoni); so I'd imagine that "leg pain" may be attributed to this drug as well. If you'd like a more concrete reference, "back pain" is also listed as a side effect of Sofosbuvir on Pubmed at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25422576 That said, you may want to contact your doctor if the pain becomes too bothersome or severe. This way you and your doctor can determine if Harvoni is sti...

long term side effects of harvoni
88 Replies RSS
I had Harvoni treatment last spring. I am not the same. My nervous system is a wreck. My anxiety problems have increased, depression and lack of motivation. My eyes changed drastically. My thoughts are not focused, I am nervous all the time, can focus or sleep. I had a 2 month migraine. Ringing in the ears is intense. I also was on pigalated interferon and ribivirn, I was pulled off mid treatment because I got so sick. After that treatment, I also had long term side effects. There isn't any back support for post harvoni people, nor are their anyone specializing in the after effect of long term HCV infection, it is NOT just a liver disease, it effects the nervous system and all else. I am at a loss for support with the doctors in my area, none seem to want to do any research and they...

Curious, I've started my 5th week of treatment and am wondering if anyone has experienced similar side effects as me: Confusion, depression, crazy acid reflux, and mood swings...3 weeks left to go. ## Hello, Joe! How are you? Yes, those can be typical side effects of this medication, along with headache, nausea and dry mouth, as reported by the U.S. FDA. However, such side effects are usually transient and should go away, within a week or two of finishing our course of treatment. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Joe I would finish your treatment! Your in the home stretch. I know the sides are bad...and I live with them still but I am virus free and that is important to hang on to in your battle to get well. I also did the 8 week plan and it worked. ## Joe you are doing ...

Hello, I am Hans (71 years). I live in Germany. I've been taking Harvoni for 6 weeks. I am happy that I have no problems and no side effects. I started with a viral load of 1.1 million. The fist blood test after 14 days had a reduction to 94 (!). In 2 days I shall see my doc again. I'm curious about the new result (I hope ZERO). Good luck to all. ## 10 more days to go with the harvoni.. Did have some side effects: Confusion, anxiety, insomnia and some hair loss... I'll be glad when it's over and hope I can get back to normal. Undetected at 4 weeks. ## I did really well on Harvoni tx too, Hans. I had to be on it for 24-wks., as I was at 4th stage liver failure. I've been virus-free for 2 years. My side effects on Harvoni, were mostly fatigue, got 3 or 4 headaches tota...

2 months post Harvoni treatment edema of hands
2 Replies RSS
I did 12 weeks of Harvoni and cleared the virus, finished treatment June 7th 2015. During treatment had some edema of feet and legs, it went away. Now 2 months later having edema of hands every morning upon waking. Anyone else reporting these symptoms ? Severe joint pain also. ## Hello, Kittykat! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, you aren't the first person to have reported such a thing. It is unusual for a medication to keep causing side effects so long after finishing treatment, though, so it hasn't actually been definitively tied together, yet. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headache and weakness. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to...

Harvoni for Hepatitis c

Im halfway through a 12 week course and am exhausted for no reason.... I have only been sick twice from the drug but other than that a dull headache with sort of fogginess, and extreme tiredness is really the only side effects for me ... slightly upset in the stomache but I was before I started.... I was just reading that others felt tired too, well I hope it goes away soon... I thought I was just getting fat and lazy ... hehe ## Everything you've listed can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the U.S. FDA. You may also experience stomach pain and diarrhea. They should go away, once you finish your course of treatment, but many people have reported that it sometimes takes a few months. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I started taking Harvoni 2 weeks ag...

Side effects and lack of transparency Harvoni
91 Replies RSS
As I read the side effects I find myself getting more and more annoyed at big pharma. If you google Gilead and litigation you will see that this drug was pushed though trials and sort of held back side effects. In addition that's not really safe because the people that participated in the trials were very ill. My hepatitis was fortunately stable, as i posted on another thread 2 wks into this and i am going to the doc tomorrow and saying OFF! Of course they cover their arse and do the labs to see if its not anything else. My face is pasty white, i discussed the mood swings i am like a black box warning but alive. its taking every bit of energy to keep my emotions in tact. I DRINK a Gal easy of water, its not the water, its the freaking drug! I think they are either dismissive or don...
