Cmom,

Methadone is a synthetic opioid known for its long acting pain relief properties in addition to detoxification and maintenance for opiate like narcotics. It is one of the most powerful narcotics on the market so it's primarily used as a last measure protocol for intractable and terminal pain conditions. If your experiencing pain on this medication contact your doctor or prescriber, you may need a titration of dosage or possibly a change to a shorter immediate release type opiate. Sweating, nausea, constipation, and headache are frequently reported side effects with this narcotic. Hope that helps with your question. Regards.

For starters asc116dones are garbage. I've been eating methadone for years and the hold me like eating norco.garbage and 10mg of done is still 10mg. Please inform yourself b4 you post any co.is allowed a 20% loss margin. Yes legally they can be 8mg.

I've been on methadone for twelve years I've had liquid, wafers methadose, mallikrodt 10,Roxanne 10,all prescribed and one month my regular pharmacy had asc116 after 3-4 days I brought my script back to my dr told him they absolutely do not work and he said he had other people say the same thing so now they write mallikrodt or Roxanne only on my scripts.btw he said when a new generic goes on the market they usually only have 60% of the drug in each pill.He has been in pain management for 30 years and on several boards so I definitely believe him, ascend methadone is garbage!!!!

I got these because my reg pharmacy was out. I will never get this brand again. They are very weak. Now I have to deal with that awful detox smell until I refill again. There not doing much for my pains either.

There is absolutely no difference. I've been on 70mg of methadone a day since I was 19, and I'm 30 now. There is no difference between the asc 116 and the 54 142...BUT, neither of them are the same quality as the rectangle ones (I'm not sure what the brand is) The rectangle ones are of a much higher quality to the point where I can take 5 a day instead of 7 a day. The rectangle ones are what I started on, and I prefer them. Before being put on the round 54s, I had no idea that generics were legally allowed to be different? So maybe it's just in my head, but it feels different to me.

I took the 54 142 for 2 yrs and had to switch to the ASC because the CVS stores around me NEVER had the methadone in stock. I now go to a smaller family owned pharmacy and I have had absolutely No Problems of any kind. Don't make yourself sick by worrying about it. I do take it for pain control, so that is my experience. All my best to everyone!

I think it's a matter of opinion because EVERY OTHER PERSON that I have spoken to about this, including a double amputee, can tell no difference between them. The only people that have been able to tell the difference said that it helps their pain but just doesn't make them feel high. I was not mean or rude in my post. I was simply giving my OPINION just like what you have said is JUST YOUR OPINION. YOU ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL. Trying to tell a person with one leg and who has had 46 separate surgeries after almost dying in a car accident, and who has come down from 150mg to 90, "If they work for you then you don't need them, period!" Thanks Dr. Oh? You aren't a Dr? Then gtf over yourself. Telling people what they do and do not need. *****, lol.

ASC 116 should be pulled from market ,I've taken twice my dosage and hasn't affected my pain ,when I put one on my tongue there is no bitterness,I have taken methadone for 22 yrs, this is my first taking ASC 116,I have slipped into withdraws, they should be tested .

I found out these are not the same as the rectangle ones with the M scored on one side. I think the manufacturer is spelled Mallinckrodt. At first I thought they were all the same till I actually got better pain relief from the rectangle ones. I know it's not in my head as back in august of 2016 I swore there was no difference. In any case if you are using these to get off another drug the shorter you are on them the better. They are even harder to get off of because of the much longer half life. If you are just hooked on percocet or similar, you can kick the habit in one month. Don't let them drag it out. It's a racket. If it's for pain I found it to be the best thing to manage with the least amount of side effects and the drs tried a lot of different things with me.

I've been on opiates for 15 years. The methadone rectangular ones are the best , the rounds don't help with pain , i have lactose intolerance. The rectangle ones don't make me sick. They keep me from abusing my hydrocodone which work best for my pain over morphine , oxy ect. But hydro only give me 2 hrs of pain relief per 20mg

I'm not posting a reply I'm asking a question I have been on benzodiazepines for 12 years 9 on 6mg a day of Zanax and and 3 years on 4 mg of Ativan. My last doctor thinks it awful to be on these so she took me off with no weaning off of them put me on buspar and gabbapatin and my regular trazadone. I am dying here I can function and can hardly breath or cope with anything. Went to a new doctor and he put me on A new type of lexapro and wants to see if that will help. Well my old lexapro was at least an antidepressant and anti anxiety even though it didn't work. This new one is just an antidepressant. Not working. I am going through the worst withdrawals I can imagine and he wants me to go back to work. I dontake walks and do work out every day hoping that will work. I need something like methadone but for benzos. Help any ideas

Wow, I just read this post and you're all over the place. And your story about a double amputee is heartfelt. Ok, I'm a double amputee myself. I broke my back l4, 5 vertebra, in 1980 and again in 1993 and now a bka right leg tma on left foot open 5×5 cm on planter part of foot. I'm laying in a hospital bed now in Reno and those asc 116 are roughly 6.2 percent methadone. Ya but who do u tell? There allowed a 20% difference meaning off the top they can legally get away with only 8mg. And sell it as a teen, bottom line they suck.

You are 100% correct. There often CAN BE a difference in generics. It depends on the medication of course, but all generics use "fillers" to make the medicine larger because the actual ACTIVE ingredient could be the size of a "pin-head". (Double entendre unintentional but still funny). Sorry to go off topic, as I make myself laugh sometimes...lol...its actually good therapy both mentally and physically to laugh when you're ill or in pain. My close friend has been a doctor of pharmacology and head pharmacist at a privately owned pharmacy in Beverly Hills for over 20 years and absolutely, unequivocally tells her patients that if they need a certain generic to ask her and she will try to find it because of the fact that they DO differ, even greatly sometimes, with the result being anything from certain side effects to certain brands "working better" for them. Not all pharmacies will be this accommodating though. Everybody is different. I hope that the "pharmacy tech student" doesn't hasten to judge people once he/she works in a pharmacy of the person that takes prescribed narcotic pain pills; however I also agree that many people misuse and/or shouldn't be taking them in the first place....especially since their recreational addiction has made it extremely difficult for those people disabled or dealing with debilitating pain. Those patients that must use some sort of pain medicine in order to even be able to physically function on a daily basis will tell you that they would much rather NOT have to take any medication at all.....that's another way to tell the difference between people that suffer in pain to those who misuse medication. (Don't get me started....it infuriates me!!!) Anyway, I hope I helped someone and maybe even got one of us 'suffers' to smile. Love to all, Marie

To "allluvher"........BRAVO!!! Your posting was BRILLIANT!!! I am SO tired of people judging others when they have absolutely NO IDEA what someone is going through. It is SO difficult to live with a "stigma" attached to you. The reason it is so increasingly difficult to get the pain medicine you NEED FOR PAIN is because of those that use them for recreation purposes. If you ask anyone who has to live in constant excruciating pain, they will 100% of the time tell you they would rather NOT have to take pain medication but in order to have even the least bit of "quality of life," they have no real choice. Almost 15 years ago I was a victim of sexual assault, and the person who inflicted that upon me was someone who was spreading HIV intentionally. I am an educated woman who has always cared for others, and consider myself a good person...so when that happened to me I was distraught. I still am. After my near death car wreck, it was amazing I was still alive; however after several surgeries to help me walk again I am in horrific pain every day, so I must take pain medication. My Primary Care Physician of 20 years used to prescribe my one pain medication until I moved to a different state, (TN) and I have been to 4 different "Pain Management" doctors (the newest racquet in recent medical history in my opinion) only to come home shocked, hurt, and DEVASTATED at how I was treated because of my pre-existing" condition. (There's so much more that has happened but I've already gone on long enough so I will wrap this up). My car accident happened in 2013 and it's now 2017 (I am 53 years old but have always looked much younger) and I have had several nervous meltdowns since the accident because of the fact that since that MONSTER gave me HIV, any doctor I go to immediately jumps to the conclusion that since I am a straight female living with this disease, that I MUST be an IV drug user and a drug addict. I cannot tell you how humiliating it has been for me to have to go into detail with each doctor I see to "convince" them of my intentions. And yes, I bring my MRI's, X-rays, and always have a clean drug panel, but rarely do we get that far when they learn of my illness. SO YES, BEING JUDGED WITHOUT KNOWING SOMEONE'S STORY absolutely infuriates me....but most of the time the feeling is of devastation... So thank you. Thank you for expressing how I feel and validating that I am not the only one who finds it nearly impossible to sit by and let others be judged. Much love, M
