Anywhere To Get Tramadol After August 18?

Updated

Ive been taking tramadol for aprox 8yrs nonstop other than a 7week break. Ive back problems and my knees are broken down do to years of rough wear and tear on top of many injuries. Ive no health insurance either. Truth b told,i cannot function very well at all without taking the tramadol. So i am checking to see of anyone has any insight or suggestions as to where i may b able to purchase tramadol after the 18th of august which is when tramadol becomes a controlled substance. Im aware that ordering overseas is risky but going without the meds is not an option. I am very worried about the change in classification. I never expected anything like this to happen, had i known and not been ignorant to the possibility of not being able to order tramadol online i would have done something different(not sure what but something). I have lived 8yrs on this medicine and if i am to all of a sudden have to stop taking it i am pretty certain i am going to lose everything. My career will b gone cause i wont b able to function well for many weeks and my family will suffer due to my inabiltie to function effectively.....etc....... i am honestly scared to death and am hopeing to find a safe way to continue getting tramadol. As i stated earlier i have no insurance nor the funds to start seeing doctors not to mention the docs only seem to prescribe narcotic type painkillers and i am not willing to take them due to the side affects and the dangers they pose for me at my work.(operate heavy equipment, machinery etc....i install commercial gas, water and fiberoptic lines)tramadols effects dont cause me to be "high"so to speak.

There's actually another thread on here that someone else started regarding the same situation... but what I don't understand is how Tramadol's new classification might inhibit legitimate pain patients from obtaining or filling their scripts like any other drug?

Tramadol isn't as controlled as other potentially dangerous medications like Oxycodone/Fentanyl and should be fairly easy to obtain in comparison. From what I understand, Tramadol is non-narcotic, and is also said to trigger a response from the same part of the brain as antidepressents. This may be something to talk with your doctor about if for some odd reason you do need to find a replacement to ease withdrawal symptoms. But as I was saying, I don't see how a schedule 4 drug would be any more difficult to obtain legitimately than it already was. If someone can enlighten me on why that might not be the case, I'm open to listening.

What does your doctor have to say about it? I'm sure if you've been prescribed it for nearly 8 years by the same Dr. they wouldn't just cut you lose without any prior warning. If this truly is a major concern however, I'd really stay on top of contacting the Dr. about any possible upcoming changes to your current regimen. That way you can at least be somewhat prepared.

I can't believe this is now considered a narcotic. I take 180 a month and have 2 **refills left and pharmacists says they will not accept that as I need to get a new prescription after this one is out. Why would I chose tramadol as a narcotic pain med. If I want a narcotic I will get vicodin or percocet for God SAKES.! Tramadol has helped my pain for 9 years but I am not going to start this crap with doctors not wanting to prescribe and saying it's narcotic. Anyone who used narcotics before like myself clearly can tell it is a synthetic therefore doesn't make you high ...unless your crazy enough to take 10+ at a time .which I never would. Ughhh I am just severely aggravated about this cause I ALREADY know there's problems up ahead. For all of us who take tramadol the right way or wrong way ,whatever the case..there is problems up ahead !!!

My husband takes Gabapentin 100mg. He has type 2 diabetes and he uses it to help with nerve ending damage due to diabetes. I believe it is also used for an anti depressant. Don't know that he's really seen any benefits nor negative with these.

I have fibromyalgia along with other health problems. I'm always looking for new alternatives to help with my pain management program. Momof2glorious girls mentioned that tramadol helps with fibromyalgia and gives energy.
Fatigue is only second to the pain problems I have. Would love something that helps with fatigue.
Have you tried the gabapentin yet? My husband has never mentioned that the gabapentin helps him with fatigue or with his nerve endings. Very interested in what you find with this drug. How many milligrams a day are you prescribed? He takes 300mg daily.

Another reason any decent DR should help is the withdrawal you will suffer if you go off cold turkey. It is actually the same physical problems people taking antidepressants and then suddenly stop suffer with. The horrible "brain zapping" is the worst. It's not safe for you to take it that long and then go cold turkey. If you have any now, you do need to try to wean yourself down just in case. But I hope and pray you will be able to find a kind DR who will help.

I think he was talking about "ordering it online" - because he has no health ins and cannot afford to go to the doctor.

Some sites simply stopped filling orders if it was at all close to 8/18. I am still trying to cut down, but symptoms make it very difficult. Gabapentin is being offered and there is some belief it helps with withdrawal

Re: Tracy (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Several years ago, my dr put me on Tramadol 2 @ 4 times a day. I was on this regime for years. After many years of taking this, I found it wasn’t working like it should have. I decided I was going to stop taking it. It took over 6 months to taper down. However I had withdrawals for a least 2 years after I stopped taking it. Irritability, sleeplessness, nightmares. I would go a few weeks or months without any withdrawals & then out of the blue it came back. My 90 year old mother is on tramadol and it scares me to death. If there is anyway you can taper off & get it out of your system would help. Just understand, it may take a while to accomplish it. I would say if you want to get off of it, just keep some for those days that you have to take one. It took me a long time to finally feel normal but I did it. There are other medications you can take instead of Tramadol. For me, my pain Dr implanted a pain pump so I didn’t have to take those meds orally. I suffer from chronic lower back pain. My dr perscribes Soma as a muscle relaxer & for breakthrough pain that I have. It’s been over 10 years since I stopped taking Tramadol & I happy to say I have no more withdrawal symptoms & glad that nightmare is over. I think the pharmaceutical companies pushed Tramadol on doctors as a better choice than taking an opioid. But at the time I was taking them, it was fairly new. Now I hear so many stories about it, I am very glad I no longer take it. I’m sure there are people out there that don’t have the reactions that you do but a lot of them do. I would ask your Dr to substitute it with something else. Keep some for those days where you feel u have to take it. Don’t go cold turkey. It will make it so much worse. Once your sure you no longer need, you can get rid of it. I hope this helps. Tramadol is not a good drug to take long term. Take care.

Re: Dora (# 19) Expand Referenced Message

This is funny to me After several surgeries , physical therapy, many alternatives to medication pain management then many yrs of non opiate medications after 8 long yrs I finally was offered mild opiate pain medication after a month of education on this subject I finally received the pain relief I had searched for & lost hope of for so many yrs.I was treated by the same pain management dr monthly monitored for over ten yrs. until 2&1/2 yrs ago when DEA charges my dr took my medical records.Ive tried to get a response from that dr as well as that area DEA Office, both have refused to reply. This opiate crisis has.forced patients who were safely prescribed opiates for many yrs with no problems related to drug addiction or diversion now are forced because these opiate guidelines written for new opiate prescribed patient not for those patients whose records prove how ppl lives were safely benifitted by these opiates now like myself are now due to untreated chronic pain suffer from severe heart problem also added chronic pain that they’d never had experienced while theirpain was under control by these opiates that are now wrongly denied.I went from a self functioning life to a bed bound exsistance of only physical suffering mental suffering ( loss of sleep ) belief in this system of control over information that government allows the public to know about the safety of opiate treatments also the denying of needed medical records all Governements way to gain more control over all Americans.Publics misinformation on this subject of opiates along with denying basic function to those who’s medical records have proof that opiates can be safely prescribed to patients who truly need these medications where many alternatives have been tried but failed for basic daily self function that would only help in those diseases where loss of physical function,& weight baring only helps these physical diseases( like osteoporosis) get out of control quicker. Most ppl, men & woman have no other treatment is available without added major side affects. Governement needs to stop interfering between medical dr s& patients safe treatment & Public proper information on this(especially for ppl in their last 10-20 yrs of life’s basic self function.

I'm amazed at how many people are in the same position as myself is crazy. I'm here in Ireland and was prescribed Tramadol (3 @ 50mg a day) to help with a shoulder injury last year and now my shoulder has healed up and I have no more Tramadol. I still have three children and a job to hold down. I am in a pickle here as I cant function. Any help would be greatly appreciated. {edited for privacy}. Thanks.

I agree. I am in need of a new shoulder and they act like tramadol is so bad. I have never gotten high off of them they make life bearable. I don't understand how they say its a narcotic or addictive.

Since the law changed there have been a lot of people going to an herbal product called Kratom. It has very similar pain relief to Tramadol as well as anti anxiety effects. It must be good because the latest news is that the feds are looking at it closely now and deciding whether to schedule it as well. But many have weaned off Tramadol using this herbal that is pretty inexpensive.

Hello. I totally agree. Im 44 and had many surgery's and on my totally torn rotator cuff and I can't even get tramadol. They gave me one prescription then I had to suffer. Im so upset about the new laws.
