I am a student and want to get rid of my need for sleep so that I may study for the whole night.....what medicine should I use??? ## There is nothing that is going to be safe to use on a long-term basis, so you do not have to sleep at all while attending school. Sleep is essential to your body and cannot be tossed away that easily, without suffering severe ill health effects. That said, I do not know what country you are in, so I also have no idea what is available for you. Have you thought of just trying some caffeine? ## Actually I'm from pakistan and I've been using caffeine for the last 7 years. Insomnia can have natural causes, or it can be caused by other medical conditions and if that is the case, you will need proper treatment for such a condition, in order to rectify the problem. Some medications used to treat it require a doctor's prescription, while some are available over the counter, however, since I don't know what country you are in, I don't know what your exact options are. i want sleeping tablet i am living in bangalore without doctors prescription ## Hi Ravi, There are many different types of sleeping pills on the market that are available over-the-counter as dietary supplements and/or in the form of herbal remedies - commonly found at natural health food stores. Supplementing with melatonin is one viable option, but there are others such as essential oils (i.e. lavender), which can be great for helping a restless body/mind relax at night. I have been taking .5 mg xanax every night for the last 8 months to fall asleep. It actually works, but I think I'm having side effects. I used to wake up 3 times per night before Xanax, and now I sleep through the night, but I wake up exhausted and sluggish. I'm having memory problems and I don't feel alert. Am I addicted? What is the active ingredient of this tablet? How many of zolfresh 10mg are considered a normal dose? ## Hi Navi, I'd sure like to hope that you're not "that person" overdosing on Zolfresh. Based on my research, 10 mgs daily of the immediate release formula is the maximum recommended dose of Zolfresh (Zolpidem). There's really no good reason for a person to take anything over that; especially 50x that!! According to a drug monograph on wikipedia, an overdose of Zolpidem may lead to too much sedation as well as impaired respiratory function. Either of these could potentially develop into a coma, & in some cases death. Dr. put me on sonata 10 mg for insomnia, but I feel it puts me to sleep sometimes. However I wake up few times a night and getting less quality sleep, feel less functional next day because of less quality sleep. It has a 1 hr half life and is the mildest of all. I want to ask to try a diff sleeping pill, but nothing strong like ambien. Maybe lunesta? I don't want a next day hangover from one either. Any help would be great! Thanks. ## Hello, Ash! I am 48 years old... I have a sleeping problem and depression... Doctor told me to take Alprazolam .25mg but I feel like I am not getting a very deep sleep. The dose you are taking is relatively small but if you double or triple up, when you run out the rebound anxiety will be that much stronger and can even lead to withdrawal problems ## Asis, NO it is not a sleeping pill. I'd suggest finding a competent prescriber. By multiplying your dose you put yourself in jeopardy for increased insomnia and dependence of this very potent benzodiazepine. Granted your dosage is relatively low but these meds can create rebound anxiety...
