In December I was in the hospital for 7 days for lung issues. I also have a lot of other issues with my back and kidneys. I my primary doctor has had me on noco for several years and sometimes when the pain is bad she gives me oxcodone to take in between for break though pain. In the end of December I had lipotripsy. The stone didn't break enough and I was in a great amount of pain so kidney doctor went ahead and done another lipotripsy 3 weeks earlier then he would have liked to. That was at the end of January. They put you to sleep to do this so you are totally out of it for most of the day. Kidney doctor gave my husband several Rx to fill on the way home. One was for oxycodone. How can I find a VA doctor to prescribe oxycontin? I have chronic pain. This drug helps to relieve it, and it doesn't make me loopy. However, because there are those who abuse it, I have not been able to find a VA doctor who will prescribe it. ## I know a few veterans that go to the VA for all there primary care doctors but go to a pain management clinic because the VA is very strict on giving narcotics. They do have a pain management program at the VA but they will start you drugs like tramdol, baclofen and gabapentin and I doubt you will ever get oxycontin. i have herniated disks in my neck and had a complicated cervical epidural which left me in worse pain. Currently i take 10 mg oxycodone x4 a dai feel like it isn't working as well ,i want to be re evaluated by a dr who can manage the medication better right now im using my primary but he will leave the practice in a month and also just doesn't really understand the medication well. I have been given one prescription for 5mg of oxycodone after a spinal fusion surgery on L4&5, one prescription of 5 mg oxycodone for total hip surgery, and another prescription for the same for shingles within the last four years at different times. I had surgery in May for disc replacement in C5 and C6 and was taking 10-325mg of Norco for pain, on October 12th I had a disc replaced in L5-S1 and my surgeon put me on 10-325mg of Percocet and Valium 10mg. I have been on this now for 2 years & my heart and G.I. doctors know I take this prescribed by my primary doctor. I don't want to have to be put through the wringer for I didn't ask for this pain med. My primary changed it to this from norco due to the acetaminophen in my others meds. My pain Dr. has okayed it for me to take Ambien (Zolpidem) at night. I take Oxycodone during the day only. He said I do need a primary care Dr. to prescribe the Ambien. Is it okay to take both of these within the same 24 hour period? ## Yes I did for awhile. I liked restoril better but they wouldn’t let me take a benzo sleeping pill with oxy. ## You can take them both, if your doctor(s) approve. However, the FDA does warn that doing so may worsen the severity of some of the usual side effects, which may include nausea, sedation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and disorientation. Ref: Zolpidem and Oxycodone Information. Zolpidem has also been known to cause sleep actions, and next day hangover-like effects. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking 10mg of oxycodone hcl per day for 2yrs; that down from 30mg 5yrs ago. Last visit to doctor, he wanted a UA. No prob til I was told it was going to be $150!!! I had a few left at home so I walked out. Now I'm out but I have 50mg tramadol.
